Although he checked left and right but he did not notice that there was a camera in his face.

S’PORE GIRL MOLESTED BY MALE MASSEUSE AT M’SIA SPA, PUT HIS LIPS ON HER CHEST

0

A 20-year-old Singaporean girl and her mother were having their holiday in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, when the girl was allegedly molested by a male masseuse at a spa.

The man had allegedly used his hands to “play” with the girl’s chest and put his lips there, as well as nearly putting his finger to her private parts but was stopped by the girl.

The mother of the girl reached out to local influencer Diah Mastura (@etrangle) for advice after exhausting all options, with the Singapore embassy purportedly telling her that there is nothing that the Singapore police can do because the incident happened in Malaysia.

The masseuse was allegedly arrested on the spot and held for just a few hours, and the Malaysian officer were allegedly making jokes about it.

Here is Diah Mastura’s post on Instagram

Dear IG fam,

This post is at the request of a helpless mommy who DMed me to ask for help.

What can she do for her daughter? What can we do?
Constructive comments pls.

Anyone can help her?
Thank you so much!

EDIT: I have decided to turn off commenting for this post because some of you were not even helping. Some even started arguing/fighting with one another. Kind of sad that victims are always held accountable in molest and rape cases. Hence, not many are brave enough to come forward to share their stories. Humans have a tendency to victim blame. Rather than blame the victim, try putting yourself in that person’s shoes and perhaps try a little empathy instead. Regardless of his gender, the masseur WAS EXPECTED to be professional. Yes, perhaps the mom’s mistake was to trust the massage spa too much, and hence she didn’t mind if it was a male or female massaging the daughter. Let this be a lesson to all. But it’s not our job to judge her.

To those who asked:
Spa name: Royal Spa @ Bukit Bintang ( it’s either they have deactivated their FB or blocked me for exposing them.) I think it’s the latter.

And just so that you know, we have several individuals who are helping the victim right now as I’m typing this. Hoping for the best. Insya’allah.

POLICE SHARES HOW THEY UNCOVER FATAL HIT & RUN DRIVER WITHIN 24 HOURS

0

A 70-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident that left nothing except a few bits of broken car parts at the site.

But the Police were able to find the perpetrator and serve justice within 24 hours of the accident.

Hit & Run

Back in 2019, Police responded to a collision involving a motorbike on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 near Upper Thomson Road. When first responders got to the site, they discovered an elderly rider immobile on the road, with debris and newspapers strewn about near the motorcycle. Paramedics pronounced the 70-year-old senior rider dead on the site.

A witness told the police that he heard a collision at 5:50 a.m. and spotted a small lorry going towards Upper Thomson Road. He also noticed a lot of newspaper copies falling on the road behind the van.

Through video footage retrieved from traffic cameras in the vicinity and in-vehicle camera footage provided by motorists travelling along that road around the time of the accident, investigators were able to piece together the video footage to determine the sequence of events that led to the accident.

The driver was later identified as 28-year-old Muhammad Amin Bin Mohamed Noor who was working as a food wholesaler delivery driver. Traffic investigators were also able to locate the lorry at a workshop shortly after.

During the course of investigations, Amin had revealed to the investigators that he had several drinks before getting behind the wheel of the lorry on the night of the accident. He also admitted to not rendering assistance to the deceased after the accident as he knew that he was in trouble.

He was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving from all classes of vehicles for 10 years.

60 S’PORE EMPLOYEES RETRENCHED BY FOODPANDA – “PAINFUL DECISION” TO CUT COSTS

0

Foodpanda reportedly retrenched 5% of their staff members, with about 60 employees being retrenched by the food delivery company, according to CNA.

The retrenchment comes less than 2 months after the company launched their regional headquarters at Robinson Road.

A spokesperson for Foodpanda spoke to CNA and said that their parent company, Delivery Hero, is hoping to remain competitive and trying to become “Ebitda-positive”, which is a reference to achieving profitability for their core operations.

As such, they have decided to retrench their employees, describing the decision as being a “painful” one.

Jakob Sebastian Angele, the company’s CEO for the Asia Pacific region, previously addressed the employees back in July about the cuts and informed them to be prepared to the cost cutting measures.

The company added that they are also “supporting impacted employees to help them through this transition, through employee assistance programmes and extended insurance and benefits.”

They also apologised to the employees who were affected and said that they are “very sorry we let them down,” before adding that “we will forever be grateful for their contributions and dedication to Foodpanda.”

However, according to Straits Times, Foodpanda Singapore is still hiring for roles in their marketing and media departments, as well as still providing internship opportunities, as reflected in the company’s LinkedIn.

WAITER IGNORES MAN WAITING FOR TABLE, TELLS HIM “COLLECT MONEY MORE IMPORTANT”

0

Was at the branch at Hougang Mall on 8 Sep 2022 at about 5.40 pm. Queued behind a guy who was making payment at the counter.

When he was done, I expected the service staff to show me to my table as I had been waiting for a few minutes.

Instead, she totally ignored me and went on to collect payment from another group of customers who got up from their table and walked to the counter.

I told the service staff I’d been kept waiting and she hadn’t even the courtesy to acknowledge my presence.

Instead of a simple apology for the delay (which I’d have gladly accepted and continued waiting a little more), she YELLED at me in Mandarin WITHOUT EVEN MAKING EYE CONTACT: “I need to collect money first. Collecting money is more important”.

To the management at Saizeriya, I want you to know that I have zero tolerance for this sort of garbage attitude. If this is how you train your service crew, you aren’t fit to be in this business.

While “collecting money” is important, do you not realise who pays your salary, rental, operating costs, etc.? I’m not expecting royal treatment, but if you can’t even treat and speak to your customer with basic courtesy, you don’t deserve my business.

In case you’d like to know what happened next – I spent my money at Ichiban Boshi that’s just next door. The crass attitude of your staff led to about $75 less in your revenue today.

On average, my buddies and I have been spending about $200 a month at your Hougang Mall outlet (we dine there several times monthly).

From now on, we WON’T spend a single cent with you. Please go compute the annual financial loss that crass attitude of your staff has cost you.

Of course, I’m sure you won’t go bankrupt without our business. And don’t bother apologizing – not gonna change my mind about putting a darn cent in your coffers!

TEACHER TAKES A LEAP OF FAITH, GOES INTO ENGINEERING & STARTS MAKING BIG BUCKS

0

This is my mid-career switch experience from teaching to software engineering. If you are thinking of doing the same, I hope my post would help you in some ways. Long story ahead.

I graduated from NIE with a bachelor in arts degree and was bonded to MOE for four years. During my four years of teaching, I gave my all and was performing above average. However, I always knew I wanted to try something else besides teaching. At that time, I didn’t know what the alternative was but I just couldn’t see myself in teaching for the rest of my life. Towards the end of my four years bond, I wrote my resume and applied to various job adverts on LinkedIn. I was lucky as one of the companies replied me. While I didn’t have the necessary skills they needed, I promoted myself as someone willing to learn and keened to work for the company. I was prepared to take a pay cut as I knew I was starting from scratch again. I settled for a 40% pay cut for this new job.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out well for me as I found the job to be rather mundane. I knew I wouldn’t get anywhere with the skills from this job and decided to cut loss by ending my employment with the company at the end of my probation period.

The good thing that came out of this was I realized I wanted to work in an environment where there would be minimal face-to-face interaction and it should be stimulating enough for me. During that period, SkillsFuture was encouraging people to join the IT industry and they were promoting this professional conversion programme for mid-career switchers to train them in IT programming. I decided to go for it. At the same time, I made use of my $500 skillsfuture credit to purchase programming courses on Udemy and continued with my learning at home.

To be honest, the courses provided by the training institute were insufficient. I was expected to learn OOP, MVC programming in 5 days, which was just impossible for someone like me without any programming background. But I was determined to figure it out. So when I was not in class, I would be following my Udemy instructor and learning on my own. The entire conversion programme took around 6 months. I updated my resume with a few mini projects I did and began my job search process. In total, I applied to close to 100 job applications and only heard back from 4 of them. I still remember the agony I went through to this day. You must understand teachers have it easy when it comes to getting a job. Our jobs were handed to us even before we graduated. We didn’t have to go through this excruciating job searching process and I was jobless for more than half a year. All the self-doubt, anxiousness and negative thoughts were just eating me up every night. While waiting to hear back from the companies, I practised my interviewing skills, did leetcode, continued with my Udemy courses and prayed. I also gave part-time tuition during this period to help with my daily expenses.

After being unemployed for more than 7 months, my breakthrough came. My friend referred me to their company’s HR internally. I was given an opportunity to do an online technical test which I passed and was subsequently interviewed by the project manager and MD. What helped was the mini projects I did and knowing the basics of OOP. They extended an offer to me and this ended my 8 months drought. I was drawing a fresh grad pay. It was 20% higher than my last drawn pay. While it was still lower than what I was last drawing in teaching, the opportunity to work and learn in this industry was more important than the salary. I knew I had to be humble and learn from my colleagues who were all younger than me.

The learning curve was steep but I enjoyed every part of it. I’m coming to 3 years in this industry and in these 3 years, I attained two cloud solutions architect associate certifications and was promoted to a senior position. I burnt many nights and weekends away studying and upskilling myself in new technologies.

Looking back, leaving teaching was a leap of faith

With a degree in arts and four years of work experience only in teaching, it was really difficult to find something comparable in the commercial sector. To those who are thinking of leaving teaching or even joining the IT industry, I would advise that you try out those programming courses on Udemy first during after office hours and weekends. It’ll minimally take you 3 months to figure out what you are doing. But you must persevere. Rewatch the videos until you get it. Figure out if this is for you. Most of the udemy courses will teach you by building projects. Make changes to those projects and customize them so that you can show them in your resume. If you plan to go for the diplomas or certifications provided by higher-level institutes, make sure you have enough savings to do so.

Even if you don’t plan to, you should also make sure you have enough savings for your expenses in case you need to settle for a pay cut. Those in teaching, at least leave after you’ve collected your 4 years connect plan.

I got headhunted by another company during this recent tech hiring spree with a happy increment. I’m now drawing a salary higher than what I would be getting if I were to stay in teaching. Most importantly, I’m doing something I can see myself doing till my retirement. Was it scary? You bet. But I grew so much in these three years when I chose to leave my comfort zone and I’m glad I made that decision 4 years ago. Oh, and not to forget the benefits of working from home.

To those who choose to stay in teaching, I have nothing but admiration for all of you. The working hours are tough and there is no such thing as work-life balance. You are a teacher to your students 24/7. Thank you! To those who need a way out, maybe this could be an option for you to consider. All the best!

UNI GRADUATE DON’T WANT TO WORK CAUSE HE EARNED $35M FROM INVESTMENTS

0

I just graduated from NUS and am jobless. Not by circumstances, but by choice. You see, I have been trading and investing since I was in JC, and throughout the years, I have accumulated a sizeable amount. Coupled with some businesses which I founded (some sold), I am currently sitting on a net worth of over $35 million dollars. My passive income alone stands at about $1.2 million a year, or $100k a month, which is more than enough to live a life of luxury.

However, my parents do not know about this. I come from a very average singaporean family staying in a heartland HDB.

Being typical parents, they want me to secure a good job with a decent salary. They see me being so relaxed and have started to nag at me for not finding a job.

What should I do?

Here are what netizens think:

  • Hello friend its so simple just transfer the fund to me i will take care of it , you will be less stressful and follow what your parent wants you to do or maybe working me how to invest those money you transfer to me, good idea right
  • If real, here’s some legit advice: Find an attorney, and don’t get one through connections. Go to a law firm, ask for an attorney for a consult (someone who has 0 connections to you) and then discuss your financial situation. Important for you to NOT tell anyone about your financial situation until after you speak to an attorney.
  • Despite what people tell you, about blood is thicker than water, or family is family or what not, money will affect your relationships no matter what. People will try to be your friend, or try to offer you advice (lol the irony here), or sell you services and what not. This is why most TOTO winners become bankrupt even after winning millions.
  • Get a will, adequate insurance, and a proper financial manager who charges on a fixed rate (not a % of capital managed rate) to properly protect your wealth. At the same time, set up a fund for your family (assuming you’re wanting to leave them something in terms of money). This fund can be set up with ~3 to 5 mil, with a monthly or yearly draw down rate predetermined by you to them. The rest would be set up for yourself.
  • After you set everything up and ensured you are represented, insured, and protected your wealth from all sorts of people (friends, family, coworkers, random people on facebook), then you can start to reveal it to people. I’d only reveal the fund you’ve set up for them (siblings for maybe their first HDB house, parents as a supplemental income on the condition that they retire, so that the principle is protected or something like that).

SISTERS MOVE OUT TOGETHER, END UP ONE OF THEM DIRTIER THAN AN ANIMAL

0

So my sister (28) got a job offer that would require her to move as it is a shift job at Tuas and it would not make sense for her to commute hours away from our parents who we were currently still living with.

She didn’t want to move out on her own alone so she asked me (25F) to move out with her, which I happily obliged. For the first couple of months, things went smoothly. I did have trouble finding a job since one wasn’t waiting on me, but I made my due by cleaning the house.

After a few months of me cleaning though, I decided I wasn’t going to spend hours every couple of days going through the house and cleaning her mess if she couldn’t do the bare minimum to keep it clean for at least a few days. We were renting a 2 bedrooms, and I cleaned it almost 3 times a week because my sister is a slob.

She never did her laundry, she would constantly take my towels from my bathroom cause she didn’t clean hers and she wouldn’t return them and just left them on her bathroom floor where her cats and dog would pee on them.

If she ever did wash clothes, it was only her 1 work uniform. When she cooked, she didn’t do the dishes or even put up her food. There would be mouldy food still sitting on the stove in the skillets/ sink until I cleaned it. She has 2 cats and would let the 3 litter boxes get so bad that she would open the windows to dilute the smell instead of cleaning them out, and when her dog pissed or crapped on the floor, it would sit for weeks.

When she ordered food or had snacks, instead of throwing the trash away, she put it behind the couch or on the ground where her dog would proceed to tear it up. After I stopped cleaning, she called me out on it and told me if I wasn’t working to provide for the house, the least I could do was clean it up which, she has a point, but she has never had to provide for me while I was jobless.

Other than paying her bills (which me living with her does not affect how much she would be paying), I made sure she didn’t have to do anything for me. She didn’t have to buy my groceries, sanitary products, gas, or any other necessity I needed so it wasn’t like she was spending any extra money as a result of me living with her.

I stayed in my bedroom almost 22 out of the 24 hours in a day and it just frustrated me that she would not take any steps in making sure the hours I spent cleaning didn’t go to waste. She told me it wasn’t fair to her that she had to work all day and come home to a mess and cleaning is the least I could do since I’m not working but all I wanted from her was to at least make an attempt at keeping the place clean.

Not once has she ever thanked me and just watching her eat and throw the trash on the floor when the trash can was 3 feet away sparked an anger in me I didn’t even know I had.
