BUILDING SERVICES DIRECTOR CALLED UP BY M.O.M AFTER WORKER FELL THROUGH ROOF

0

The Ministry of Manpower said in a statement that the Managing Director of Le Fong Building Services Pte Ltd, William Lim, was called up by them to account for a serious workplace accident.

A worker had fallen more than 8 metres through a roof after the sunlight panel that he was stepping on had broken.

MOM inspected the site and found unsafe work practices that led to the accident, and Lim was called up to personally account for the lapses to MOM.

MOM’s statement

[Heightened Safety – Managing Director accounts to MOM]

MOM called up the Managing Director of Le Fong Building Services Pte Ltd, Mr William Lim, to account for a serious workplace accident and major safety lapses found at the worksite.

The workplace accident on 1 Sep 2022 involved a worker who fell more than 8m through a roof after the skylight panel he stepped on broke. He was fortunate to survive the serious fall, but sustained multiple bodily injuries, and is still warded in hospital.

MOM inspected the worksite and found unsafe work practices that directly contributed to the accident and posed imminent danger to other workers. As a result, Le Fong was ordered to stop all work at height activities across its worksites.

In line with new Heightened Safety measures, Mr Lim had to turn up personally and account to MOM.

Mr Lim acknowledged the company’s failure to implement a proper system to address safety hazards from working at height. He will need to ensure that rectification actions are carried out and a robust workplace safety and health system put in place before the Stop Work Order is lifted. Le Fong has been debarred from employing new foreign employees for 3 months.

Company leaders are in the best position to set a positive culture and shape safety practices on the ground. MOM urges company leaders to subscribe to the Workplace Safety and Health Council’s WSH Alerts (go.gov.sg/wshalerts), to incorporate lessons from past accidents. All company leaders must pay utmost attention to workplace safety and health.

MAN WANTS TO BE NICE TO FEMALE COLLEAGUE BUT KENA TREATED LIKE A CREEP

0

Ok so the context is I’m 23(M) got this job about two months ago and I got promoted to a manager after about a month.

I’ve made friends really quickly (people have commented at how fast I was accepted into the friend group) and everyone is pretty cool.

We had a work function and everyone was drinking and I met a woman who works at another office who is about 30. She is also a manager and I went over and talked to her and quickly noticed how intense, rowdy and drunk she was.

She seemed to immediately come across as a really strong personality and was kind of hitting on me? But I don’t drink so I didn’t really try to talk to her for the rest of the night although she intrigued me a lot. I feel uncomfortable talking to people who are drunk when I’m sober, because they’ll be more friendly and open than usual and I kind of feel like I am less vulnerable than they are.

Fast forward about a month from the party and I talked to this woman very minimally since then. (And not seen in person) There was a work hike organised for this weekend and I noticed that she is one of the ones who put her hand up to go.

Probably good to note our big boss recommended we carpool as a group of us stay in the same area.

I decided to message her on our work app and ask if she was going, after she said she isn’t sure yet I told her to let me know if she is because her drive is the longest out of everyone’s and she can cut it in half by stopping at mine, and the hike will be very early.

To this message she didn’t reply at all, then left the work group chat for the hike the same day.

I can’t help but feel like I may have creeped her out. I am really forward but I feel much more confident and natural talking to people irl and over text it’s much harder

Do you think I was being too forward/creepy? Or is that a genuinely nice gesture to look out for her for the long drive.

I do think she is attractive but I am not necessarily interested in her

DJ TENASHAR FORGED DOCUMENT WITH ATTORNEY-GENERAL’S NAME, CHARGED

0

37-year-old Singaporean model and DJ, Debbie Valerie Tenashar Long, otherwise known as DJ Tenashar, was charged on 7 September with the forging of a document.

She had allegedly filed a letter in court with the name and title of “Lucien Wong” and “Attorney General” in the signature.

The document had allegedly stated that Attorney General Lucien Wong had given his consent for court proceedings for contempt of court to begin.

However, details of the forged document were not mentioned in the court documents.

Long is set to undergo psychiatric observation at the Institute of Mental Health and she is currently in remand; her case is scheduled for another hearing on 21 September.

If she is convicted of using a forged document and passing it off as an authentic document, she faces a jail term of up to 10 years as well as a fine.

Previously jailed for drugs

DJ Tenashar, also known as Debbie Valerie Tenashar Long, was previously sentenced to 18 months of jail back in 2019 after being convicted of 9 charges (including drug-related ones), and another 10 charges for theft and harassment were taken into consideration during sentencing.

Long was previously jailed 18 months for numerous offences that included drug consumption and she was released early from prison in 2019, where she was subjected to a remission order where she was supposed to stay out of trouble from 29 May to 25 November 2019.

She reportedly reoffended during that time period and failed to report for a urine test.

Because she breached the order, she has to serve an additional 72 days of jail.

Left Singapore illegally

Long also unlawfully left Singapore on 4 July 2019 without the approval of her supervision officer, she then returned to Singapore three days later.

She had apparently left Singapore despite being reminded repeatedly to seek approval from CNB.

Also, Long had recorded a video in CNB’s office at Jurong Police Divisional HQ, which is a protected place.

UNI STUDENT STARTS INTERNSHIP, FINDS OUT HE HAS TO “EARN & FEED HIMSELF” ONE DAY

0

Optimal salary to live comfortably in SGsociety

As a naive university student, I am completely oblivious to society. Just study and play. But during my internship search I come to realise I will have to earn and feed for myself one day.

My Parents can’t be there to feed me all the time. Hence I am curious how much should one make to live comfortably here in SG.

Here is my definition of a comfortable lifestyle. I am a very simple man. I generally eat at hawker centre/ instant noodle. I don’t plan on getting married since that’s BS.

I also plan on getting the cheapest HDB in SG maybe a 3 room flat at a cheap area once I hit 35. I will only install 1x aircon in my house.

Won’t be buying a car as well since our transport network is the best.

Hence generally how much should I make per month to live relatively comfortably.🥲🥲🥲 I have no ambition so pursuing luxuries like condo/car is out of my scope.

Netizen’s comments

You seem to have good spending habits and values, based on your simple lifestyle, assuming you don’t have any other expensive hobbies and that things won’t change in the future.

Of course, with time, inflation will eat up your savings so don’t just focus on saving what you earn, prolly need to learn how to invest too.

Housing is the main factor, will you be ok with a HDB in the outskirts or are you looking for central region? There is a big difference in price and will be a major factor to consider in terms of your monthly mortgage…

MAN EXPECTS GF TO DO HOUSEWORK EVEN THOUGH SHE WORKS DOUBLE HIS HOURS

0

My boyfriend expects me to do majority of the housework even though I work double his hours. How do I resolve this without an argument?

Background: I’m 30f, he’s 38M. We’ve been together for 7 years and have lived together for 2.

Throughout the 7 years we’ve been together, I have consistently worked full time. He on the other hand is on and off with work and hasn’t lasted for longer than 4 months in a job. I would say in total, he’s worked perhaps one and a half years in our relationship.

The place we live in is his. We split the bills, but I would say in total I have contributed more financially if we are including socialising, holidays, groceries.

One thing he has always done while being unemployed is cook for us (almost daily) once a day and throw away the rubbish. He also did laundry once a week. I did dishes, bathroom and other stuff. To be fair, it’s a relatively small home and just the two of us so there’s not a massive amount to do.

I was really happy with this arrangement because having healthy food cooked every day took a massive mental load from my mind. I had no complaints.

The issue is 6 weeks ago, he got a part time job (20 hours a week) and now I do the cooking 5/7 days a week, plus all of the rest of the housework. The only thing he does is take throw rubbish and do laundry once a week.

I feel like on top of working full time, it is a lot for me to do alone. The worst part is, he will always pick at small, minor things I’ve forgotten to do or haven’t done to his liking. As an example, I cleaned the whole bathroom until it was sparkling and the only thing he said after he saw it was “you left the soap dish on the wrong side of the bath”.

This really hurts my feelings as I feel like I’m doing a lot, for nothing. No praise, no recognition that I do all of this on top of working double his hours.

Sometimes I don’t feel comfortable confronting him because part of me feels ashamed about complaining about housework as a woman. Almost as if it makes me less of a woman to not be ok with this

I really feel like I’m going crazy because he doesn’t even acknowledge the big difference in what we do. What’s scary is we actually have the same dynamic as my parents. My mum did ALL of the housework and paid ALL of the bills while my dad was in and out of work his whole life. I don’t want that life.

Can someone advise on how I can navigate this without starting an argument? It always becomes an argument.

LANDLORD TRYING TO CHEAT TENANT WHO IS MOVING AWAY, WANTS TO MAKAN DEPOSIT

0

Just to give some background, I moved to a new place mid Feb 2022 and signed a 2 year lease. It’s a 2 bedroom house so I found a flatmate for the other room who’s added as an occupant to the lease.

Cut to Sep 2022 I have been asked by my company to relocate to the US, so I proposed to my owner to transfer the lease to my flatmate who wants to continue staying and I will compensate agent for the pro rated commission for ending my lease.

Now the agent/owner are being unreasonable and forcing me to forfeit my deposit and pay the agent fee on top or pay 7 months rent(time to diplomatic clause) to get the 2 months deposit.

If my flatmate is taking over the lease and owner has 0 financial loss as he continues to get the same rent and he will get new 2 months deposit from my flatmate, so I don’t understand why he needs to forfeit my deposit?

Did anyone face similar issues with owners in singapore? Also even if am willing to let go of deposit and pay the agent fee, on the day of leaving if the agent creates any issues in order to extract more money from repairs can i just ask them to use my deposit for repairs and leave the country? What are the implications after leaving the country? Can they reach out to me?

To add more context, owner lives in Canada and recently came down to SG in June when me and my flatmate met him in person and he verbally agreed my flatmate to take over the lease and for me to find a replacement for the room. Just yesterday he entirely flipped on us that yeah we discussed and we didn’t agree.

Literally at this point I feel like laughing at the ppl who have never been a tenant and have not gone through what tenants go through and give lectures on rules. You do know the rule in the Tenancy agreement that states if I find any defects in the first month the owner needs to get them rectified? A clear rule in the agreement that owner signed. Here are 3 screenshots of my agent responses for the issues I identified within the first month.

Every house has lizards suck it up Haha who uses a bell anyways ask your guests to knock on the door hehe

No extra AC remote, lol just share the other one

Gate remote not working, fucking go down Grass is totally worn and coming off, haha fuck off owner won’t change. Owners can break rules set for them in the agreements and get away?

GUY SAW GHOST WALK THROUGH DOOR AT HOME, FLEES & RUNS TO NEIGHBOUR FOR HELP

0

This Happened years ago, I don’t remember when was it but I still clearly remember what happened back then.

It was exact 3pm in the afternoon when I last checked the clock I was home alone almost everyday because my school classes ends earlier than my siblings and my parents (both have works) go home around 8pm.

I was playing GTA: San Andreas that time on our laptop I clearly still remember that I was playing motor bike racing when suddenly I got goosebumps all over my body and I really felt that something went through my body from left to right and when I looked on my right side (where my bedroom door is) I saw a figure of a human and its transparent but I clearly see it has a human figure I only see its outlines and its walking through the door and I suddenly shut the laptop off and when I leave my bedroom the thing was gone and I quickly ran off to my neighboor.

This was the one only paranormal thing that I have experienced and I hope its the last too. Im 22 now and a science guy but that thing that happened to me proved that not everything can be proven by science, at least not yet.

I think humanity is closer to unlocking the secret of the universe than to be able to make a sense of all these paranormal stuffs in our world.

NEW CRYPTO TOKENS JUST HOURS AFTER QUEEN DIED – “QUEEN ELIZABETH COIN”

0

This is a bad look for crypto, Hours after the passing of Queen Elizabeth over 30 new tokens created. creating crap coins of Queen Elizabeth’s death makes all of us look bad.

It’s a bad look for crypto when mere hours after the passing of the Queen Elizabeth already over 30 new tokens on Binance Smart chain and Ethereum have been launched.

most of them don’t have any liquidity or transactions but I did find one that was created six hours ago and has over 1,300 transactions with $4,000 in liquidity.

Most here already know that these are shitcoins that will soon pull the rug on any one who puts money into them but from the outside looking in the average person is Judging all of crypto by these tokens.

Crypto will continue to be judged by the worst among us, events like this only helps to bolster the hate that many feel towards crypto.

Cryptos strength is Decentralization but it’s also it’s biggest problem.

Netizens’ comments

  • I doubt the average person knows these coins exist. People aren’t looking at crypto in general for them to notice this and conclude that it’s a bad look
  • And now this post is bringing even more attention to it lol
  • Anyone buying these is going to get royally screwed. Next up will be NFTs. Buyer beware.

PRC MAN IN S’PORE UNDER WORK PASS, FLED CHINA AFTER CRITICISING GOVT & SHARING MEMES

Is it difficult for a WP holder to find a IT job in SG without diploma?

Thank you for providing me info. I‘m Chinese.(only nationality)

I’ve been working here for a month and gotten used to life here . I could chat with Indian-Singaporean taxi driver. I joined badminton court from Fackbook. I even hanged out with a girl and walked with her from east coast to downtown. That’s unimaginable in my past life. Anyway,SG brings me brand new life.

I was in hurry when I got my passport back(confiscated by CHN National Security Department only because of some meme pictures and criticism). So I just chose the storekeeper job to get F out of China asap. Tickets and agency fee were about 4000SGD.

I had been computer salesman for years. I also worked as technician in a IT company which mainly provided service to net bars. I even worked in a hydropower station to test and fix those mining GPUs.

Unlucky I dropped out of school too early at the age of 16. I found a lot of IT jobs on Jobstreet.com require diploma. Well, that’s the biggest problem for me. I’d like to listen to your opinions. 1800SGD per month is really too low and I‘m planning to change my job next year.(not immediately, for showing respect to first employer)

Netizens’ comments

  • You can look for a sales job, maybe try startup where they’re not so fussed about degree + the startup bosses are Chinese too. Your English is pretty good, shouldn’t be an issue
  • Wait, you had to leave China because you shared memes? LOL

GUY TOOK $7K LOAN FROM GIRL THAT HE LIKED, THEN GOES MIA BECAUSE NO MONEY RETURN

0

During my uni days I have this hot female friend who often visits me when she visits the country that I was studying in. Once she even agreed to enter my lecture hall and sit next to me. I feel damn sut among my peers then. We would have a meal or hang out with my friends or our common friends whenever she visits. I know she doesn’t like me romantically even though I had a crush on her in my earlier years of knowing her. I’ve resigned to the fact that she’s out of my league but I’m also open to meeting her other hot female friends as sometime she would introduce to me.

Once I asked if I can stay over at her hotel in a joking manner. I slipped and said I may hop over to her bed in the middle of the night. She had a boyfriend that time and I think I may have startled her. She said she trust me but she’s going to ask her boyfriend. She said ok but I changed my mind. I chickened out as I don’t trust myself.

Not long after I got into an accident. I wasn’t seriously injured but I needed money for surgery. I hid it from my parents and some friends but I confided in her that I needed money. She didnt hesitate to loan me a sum. I know she was earning at least $6,7k a month and can help me out easily.

The thing I regret doing was, after I had the surgery and got better, I avoided her. I didn’t have the money to return her as I was still a student. I was living on cup noodles and selling off my stuff to tide through. She didn’t chase for the money for over a year until I missed her deadline then she called my parents. So in the end I took money from my parents and returned her the money. After that I never heard from her again.

Its been years and I regret what I did. I stayed single, I had a few ons but none of these women can compare to her. She’s pretty, slim, had the right figure and height, a great job. Always happy and positive. I’ve always thought she’s like a real life goddess.

She has since married her then bf and became a mother. I tried to message her but she never replied. Sometimes I look back and think if I didn’t make such a mistake maybe I could have a chance to be with her.

This is my regret. Don’t live life as though there’s no consequences to the decisions you make. If I can turn back the time, I would have been a better man and hopefully be able to attract her to be mine.

Netizens’ comments

  1. You are truly the worst kind of friend. People lend you money during your hard times and you ghost them without returning the money. Good that she ditched you out of her life
  2. You totally deserved not hearing from her again. It’s not too late to be a better man for yourself but doesn’t sound like you’ve had much growth.
  3. Err don’t think u could have gotten her anyway sorry bro
