WOMAN THOUGHT SHE WAS MOLESTED BY GHOST TURNS OUT IT’S HER LANDLORD

0

Renting a home is not just for foreigners but also youngsters who wished to move out. It is going to be a more and more common practice as many people prefer ‘freedom’.

However, those who legitimately rent a place in Singapore as they are working here often have all sorts of stories about crazy landlords.

In this story a perverted one.

Landlord Charged

According to Shin Min Daily News, The girl and her boyfriend rented a place together. One night in June last year, she was touched while sleeping in the house.

When she woke up, she found a “shadow” standing beside the bed. Because of her boyfriend’s bald head, “Black Shadow” has hair, which makes the girl puzzled.

The boyfriend returned to the room after showering. After learning about the incident, he asked whether his girlfriend had encountered a “little ghost”, pointing out that he suspected that the landlord and his wife had the habit of raising “little ghosts”.

The two later secretly installed a CCTV. The girl was touched again in August, and the person who entered the room happened to be the landlord.

Yesterday(Aug 30), the landlord has been charged in court, but he has pleaded not guilty and the trial is still ongoing.

What is a ‘little ghost’?

According to folklore, there are primarily known as ‘Kum Mantong’, ‘little ghost’ or sometimes known as ‘toyol’.

Various cultures believed that they are able to attend wealth and success by giving the ‘ghost’ an offering.

SCAMMERS “HIRING” VICTIMS TO RATE APPS, MORE THAN $780K LOST SINCE APRIL

0

The Police would like to alert the public to a variant of job scam where victims participated in jobs requiring prepayments to rate applications. Subsequently, victims were unable to withdraw their commissions. Since April 2022, there have been at least 43 victims, with losses amounting to at least $781,000.

In these cases, scammers would reach out to victims via online messaging applications such as Whatsapp. Scammers would inform victims that they could earn commission by rating applications.

Once victims agree to the job offer, they would be provided with a website link to register an account and instructed to top it up by transferring cash into bank accounts maintained by persons unknown to them.

After the cash transfer, the equivalent USDT would be reflected in victims’ accounts, and they could then start rating the applications.

Rating an application would cost victims some USDT, and once the account of the victims depletes, they would be instructed to top up their account again by transferring cash to another unknown person.

Initially, victims would be able to withdraw their commissions, which convinced them that the work was legitimate.

However, victims would later discover that they were unable to withdraw their commission and realise they had been scammed.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following precautionary measures:

• Do not accept dubious job offers that offer lucrative returns for minimal effort;

• Never download applications from unverified sources; and

• Never send money to anyone whom you do not know or have not met in person before.

If you have information related to such crimes or if you are in doubt, please call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000, or submit it online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness. Please dial ‘999’ if you require urgent Police assistance.

For more information on scams, members of the public can visit www.scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam Hotline at 1800-722-6688. Join the ‘Spot the Signs. Stop the Crimes’ campaign at www.scamalert.sg/fight by signing up as an advocate to receive up-to-date messages and share them with your family and friends. Together, we can help stop scams and prevent our loved ones from becoming the next victim.

CHAOS ON THE ROAD – MAN FINDS LIZARD ON HIS MOTORBIKE, PANICS & SCREAMS FOR HIS LIFE

TikTok user @ragexnerdz shared a video of himself riding with a friend on a motorcycle along Bukit Batok, when they had a little encounter with a lizard.

The pillion was seen in the video screaming for his life and pointing out to his friend that there was a lizard on his motorcycle.

He was heard shouting in fear “EH MUSIBOT ADE CICAK LAH SIAL! OIIIIII! BODOH! CICAK BODOH CICAK!!!(rough translation: “damn there is a lizard lah sial!”)

What followed was a back and forth between the rider and the pillion over the lizard hitchhiking on their motorcycle.

The pillion then said that if the lizard falls off the windshield, it would “fly” and land on them, and the motorcyclist then told the panicked pillion to put his visor down to protect himself from the “cicak”.

The lizard was then seen dangling on the edge of the windshield and the pillion then begged his friend to stop the bike because he can’t take it anymore.

WOMAN QUEUES FOR 5 HOURS AT JB CUSTOMS, HAS PICNIC ON THE FLOOR TO KILL TIME

TikTok user @mitsueki posted a video detailing her experience waiting 5 hours in line at the customs of Johor Bahru.

She described it as the “longest immigration queue ever experienced at JB Customs”, sharing that she reached the complex at 11.50am and only entered JB at 5pm.

Long snaking queues could be seen at the complex, and even after 3 hours, the situation was still roughly the same and the queue barely moved.

Several other travelers were seen sitting down while waiting in line, and Mitsueki and her friends, who were starving by this point, decided to sit down and have a picnic while waiting.

She added that she could “even read a book” while waiting for the queue to dwindle down, and after they managed to clear immigration at 5pm after 5 hours, she said that she “can’t believe we endured this”.

SUSPICIOUS BAG STUCK ON MRT TRACKS, SCDF ACTIVATED TO RETRIEVE IT USING CRANES

TikTok user @jenita.darmento posted a video on 27 August showing officers from the Civil Defence Force in action.

The SCDF officers were seen in the video deploying a Combined Platform Ladder under the MRT tracks near Queenstown MRT station and trying to retrieve what appears to be a suspicious IKEA bag.

Jenita added that the SCDF officers took quite a while to retrieve the suspicious items, as they were wearing protective gears.

The mag was eventually freed from the tracks by one of the officers who used a metal tong, and it was then immediately checked to make sure that it was safe.

The netizen then asked the police about what happened, and they purportedly told her that it was nothing serious.

There were at least 3 SCDF and 5 police vehicles at the scene, and Jenita said it was her first time seeing so many officers around.

She then praised Singapore for taking safety to another level.

MAN LOST $15K TO JOB SCAM AFTER HE GOT GREEDY AND THOUGHT HE WILL BE RICH

0

A man shared his story of how he got scammed for over $15,000 and warned others not to fall for the same trick.

Here is the story:

Chatted with the person for quite some time and got introduced to how she was making quick money by fulfilling orders on the site luisaviaroma.

Basically, the scam goes like this:
1. They provide you with a link to the product and ask you to transfer the amount to a given bank account (money mule). The given bank account names are both Malay names based on what I’ve experienced so far.
2. They start off with products that cost < $100 to bait you into thinking its a good deal
3. You make the payment and get the initial sum refunded plus a 5% commission.
4. Slowly the items get more and more expensive and the conditions suddenly change from 1 quantity to 3 quantity and they request that you make that payment twice.

I did not notice the change and only make the transfer for 1 item. They then contacted me that I’ll have to make the payment for the other 2 items (Which i did, thinking that I’ll get back my money).
Then later they told me that I’ll have to repeat the process again as it was a double order.

It then did i realised that I’d been in a scam all along.

When confronted, the scammer would make all sorts of excuses to get you to pay that balance amount. Even to the extent of offering to pay up to 10k of the balance amount).

IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, ITS MOST LIKELY A SCAM, DON’T BE BLINDED BY GREED.. THIS WAS INDEED A PAINFUL LESSON TO LEARN.

NO MORE PRE-DEPARTURE COVID-19 TESTS FOR SOUTH KOREA FROM SEPTEMBER 3

0

Those who want to travel to South Korea and do not want the hassle of going through the COVID-19 pre-departure test will finally be able to do so.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the country will no longer mandate a pre-departure test from September 3.

South Korea lifted most of its coronavirus-related restrictions in May but kept strict border measures requiring incoming travellers to show a negative test result before departure.

Existing rules and situation

Currently, South Korea requires all entrants to present a negative certificate of the nucleic acid test (PCR) or rapid antigen test (ART) before entering the country.

They still require face mask wearing in indoor settings.

Despite strong vaccination rates and extensive mask use, South Korea has recorded some of the greatest numbers of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, despite the fact that the vast majority of illnesses have been mild.

Since the outbreak of highly transmissible Omicron sub-variants in mid-August, daily cases have hovered around 100,000.

GOJEK DRIVER ALLEGEDLY DROVE AIMLESSLY FOR 20 MINS TO GET PAX TO CANCEL BOOKING

Facebook user Joyce Zhuang, shared how she booked a Gojek ride yesterday at 1.47pm, which was accepted by a Toyota Isis driver.

However, from 1.47pm to 2.10pm, she claimed that her driver was seen in the app either not moving or allegedly driving around aimlessly.

Here is what she said

Booked Gojek.

1.47pm to 2.10pm driver either never move, or purposely keep driving around aimlessly. Was it just to force me to cancel booking?

If you don’t want the job then just cancel it and gojek can find me another driver right? You all look at the route and see is it the driver playing punk.

KOREAN ACTRESS YOO JOO-EUN DEAD AT 27, LEFT BEHIND “GOODBYE NOTE” TO FAMILY

0

South Korean actress Yoo Joo-eun died on Monday (29 August) at the age of 27, and she reportedly left behind a goodbye note to her family.

Her elder brother, shared her note on Instagram, and it was translated by Soompi:

What she said in her note

“I am sorry for leaving first. I am especially sorry to Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Oppa (older brother). My heart screams that I don’t want to live. Life without me may be empty, but please live on bravely. I will keep watch of everything. Don’t cry. You’ll be hurt.

I’m not sad at all in the slightest right now. I feel resolute and calm. I think it’s because I have thought of this for a long time.

I’ve lived such a happy life that was more than I deserved. That’s why, it is enough for me. This is enough. So please live without placing blame on anymore.

I’m not dead, so everyone, please live well. I hope many people are called to my funeral, and I want to see everyone for the first time in a while and check in on anyone who is having a hard time.

I wanted to act so badly. Perhaps it was my all, and it was a part of me. However, living that life wasn’t easy. I don’t want to do anything else. That was so hopeless. Having something you want to do is a blessing, but I realized that only wanting to do that thing is a curse.

God loves me, so he won’t send me to be damned. He will understand my feelings and care for me going forward. That’s why, everyone, don’t worry.

And to all my loving family and friends and my loves. Thank you so much for treasuring me and loving me. That was my strength and my smile. I lived with unforgettable memories until the end, so I think I’ve lived a successful life. Thank you for understanding and embracing me who was lacking and impatient. I’m sorry I can’t express it well. But you’ll still understand how I feel, right?

And to all those precious relationships I’ve made, especially the teachers, I was so grateful, and I respected you all. Thank you so much for teaching me the many things in life.

Mom, Dad, I love you. Don’t cry. Please”
