CAPITALAND CHARGED AFTER WORKER FELL THROUGH TAMPINES MALL CEILING & DIED

0

CapitaLand Retail Management, which runs Tampines Mall, was charged in court yesterday (4 August) with allegedly lapses in safety, following an incident in 2020 that resulted in the death of a worker.

TODAY reported that CapitaLand was charged with failing to ensure the safety of everyone in the mall, as well as being accused of failing to provide and maintain adequate lighting at every part of the 5th floor where people were working or passing by.

They are being accused of failing to provide effective guardrails to prevent falls through openings along the walkway.

The incident happened on 25 January 2020, when an Indian national was performing cleaning works along the walkway on the 4th floor, and crashed through a false ceiling, landing on the 3rd floor.

The SCDF responded to the incident and arrived on site at about 1.20am, and the man was later sent to Singapore Changi General Hospital, before succumbing to his injuries and dying.

The deceased was a worker of Cleaning Express Pte Ltd, while the mall was run by CapitaLand Retail Management, according to MOM.

If convicted, CapitaLand Retail Management faces a fine of up to $500,000.

MAN SICK OF WAITING FOR WIFE WHILE SHE SHOPS: “YOU DON’T NEED SO MANY EYEBROW PENCILS”

Waiting for my wife while shopping

We have been together with each other for 5 years now , every time we go shopping i’ll just wait outside for her at the store while waiting for her

I have friends who will accompany their girlfriends & shop with them all these and I really salute them as being inside the shop is often very suffocating for me as it is usually super crowded & very squeezy , especially places like sephora & sometimes I just don’t understand how girls could shop at watsons / guardians for 30mins & more (No matter the size) that’s super impressive btw.

However , seeing her smiling whenever she exits watsons really warms my heart till this day , it’s just so adorable , she always look so proud whenever she walks out of watsons with her new eyeliner or mascara ?? or eyebrow pencil idk ?? She always says she running out of those at home , but I found like 5 6 eyebrow pencils at home which I’m sure that’s not what we consider as running out .

She used to mention about how she wished that I could be like some people in the store who will accompany their gf/wife to shop , which I did tried , I’ll try to accompany her for awhile but after 15mins or so my legs just gave out. Now she got so used to it to the extent that she’ll only ask me to accompany her to the store if she sees a bench/ sofa inside.

Although I may not be the type that accompanies her for a 30mins watsons trip , but i’ll try my best to be the one she sees first whenever she leaves watsons

P.S Ladies please keep your watsons journey sweet & short , there’s no need for so many eyebrow pencils

Singaporeans JJ Lin and Stefanie Sun, among man other celebrities, were called out by netizens in China for not supporting “One China”.

An internet user in China posted a list of names of the celebrities who have not said anything to show their support for “One China”, including singers Jay Chou and A-Mei, Hebe Tien, Jolin Tsai, Angela Zhang, Elva Hsiao and etcetera.

This comes in the wake of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan on 2 August, drawing the ire of the Chinese government.

The netizen who posted the list of celebrity names said that these celebrities “have something to hide” because they didn’t share CCTV’s post.

Another netizen tried to talk reason with him, saying that JJ Lin and Stefanie Sun are not from China and didnn’t need to share their views, but the netizen then asked:

“Did they not earn money from the mainland? Are they not a part of the local showbiz?”

GIRL ASKED TIRED NSF TO STAND IN MRT, CALLS HIM A “BABY” FOR HAVING SORE LEGS

I posted this in a different platform and got ripped apart, probably because of culture differences, so I’m posting here to have a more understanding viewpoint, please be kind and give your honest but fair opinions.

I’m from Singapore. In Singapore, all men aged 18-20, with some exceptions/delays, must do their duty and serve national service for 2 years.

A majority of these men live out on some of the islands surrounding Singapore, in camps, where they do jobs to aid in the defence or functions of our country.

These men used to live out there for the full 2 years, with some breaks in between, but now because ppl were complaining, they come back into the city every weekend.

These men often use public transport on Fridays and Sundays, as they book out of their camps on Friday nights, or evenings and return on Sundays.

I have bfs who’ve served NS, respectfully and dutifully, and my father did it too, when it was much harder, and he never complained.

A “tradition” or unspoken rule is that NS men do not sit down on public transport. First reason for this is that they are bearing the coats of arms of our country, second reason is that they’re meant to be serving our country and a lot of people believe they shouldn’t even be out and about in the first place.

The last reason is that they’re men in their physical prime, meaning they can easily be able to stand for a while.

In more recent times these men have been forgetting themselves, and have began to say they deserve to sit because they actually stand for this country. I think that is bullshit because they’re meant to be serving our country, not sitting on their lazy asses.

So I saw a man sitting on friday, full on decked out in army uniform, on his phone while many women and children and elderly were standing. I walked up to him and tapped him on his knee.

At first I was polite, trying to say there were people who needed his seat more, but he was being a baby saying his legs were sore and “dead”. I reasoned with him some more but eventually just demanded that he get up, citing all the reasons above.

People started staring and pulling out their phones, and I pointed out that he had his name on his chest, so he got up and just walked out of the train.

I told my friends about this, and most agreed that I did the right thing and he should’ve stood, but some of my male friends are refusing to talk to me now.

TEEN LEFT WORK ABRUPTLY DUE TO ANXIETY ISSUES, DESPITE GETTING CHANCES FROM COMPANY

0

I turn 18 on Monday (the 8th). My family life has been an absolute wreck show and it has caused a lot of stress on me. The TLDR of that context is my mom was an alcoholic and my dad kicked me out of my house. Obviously, that has caused some pretty hefty grief on me.

I miss my family. For those of you that are worried, I am staying with my partner’s family. They are wonderful, but they aren’t the same. On top of the family drama, I have severe anxiety and depression already. It sucks.

I recently got a job to try and kickstart my life. I’ve had jobs before this one as an attempt to combat my depression and it’s worked pretty well. This one was perfect, too. Great starting wage (especially at 17), hours I can get behind, and really welcoming coworkers.

During my interview I mentioned I have severe mental health issues, explicitly saying that they might get in the way.

My interviewers said that they would be willing to work it out with me so it wouldnt be an issue.

A key thing about this company is that they are a food company hired to feed another company’s employees, but because of quarantine there weren’t many people in the office. That included chefs.

Unfortunately, my mental health was an issue as I had started getting awful stress-induced anxiety attacks AT WORK, and my medication to help combat them was struggling to work. I was told that I can take small breaks to recover from them and I even stopped taking lunch breaks to compensate for the time.

In their defence, these anxiety attacks were happening pretty frequently, at least twice a week. I still feel very bad about it.

Insert today. I start having a terrible panic attack 2 hours into my shift. I’m talking, I-want-to-peel-my-skin-off terrible. I sat in the bathroom on the verge of throwing up for 30 minutes.

Right as it started I texted my boss to let him know where I am, worried that they’d think I went home in an attempt to get out of work. He responded “Chill out and work through it.”

So everything was fine, right?

Wrong

I then get a text telling me to go to his office when I can. When I get in there, which I was expecting another conversation about how they’re worried about me, I sit down and he tells me to suck it up. My bad, he said “wrap it up.” I was still shaking at that point and he looked me in the eyes and said I need to get over it.

I was over it. I decided that, in order to save my sanity and work on myself, that I needed to leave. I took off my uniform, grabbed my water and bag, and left.

Part of me is proud of myself for standing up for what I need, but I also feel slightly bad. Am I in the wrong?

FT PUSHED TAXI DRIVER INTO BUSHES & ATTACKED POLICE OFFICERS, FINED $4K

0

37-year-old Briton, Carlie Jayne Guy, pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt and two counts of use of criminal force, and she was fined $4,000 on 4 August.

Two other charges were considered for her sentencing.

She had apparently gotten into a dispute with a taxi driver over the taxi fare and pushed him into the bushes nearby, before scratching and kicking police officers who were called to the scene.

What happened?

On 2 February 2019, Guy boarded Mr Simon Tan’s taxi towards City Square Residences at 2 Kitchener Link at about 5.15am.

Tan then wanted to collect his taxi fare from her, with the latter claiming that she had already paid for the fare via the Grab app with her credit card.

The two then got into a dispute, with the woman then pushing Tan into some bushes nearby.

Tan then called the police and followed Guy, who was walking away – she was later stopped by police officers and placed under arrest, before being escorted back to the drop-off point where she was dropped off.

Guy then used her right thumb’s nail to scratch one of the police officers who was holding on to her, and the officer then moved his hand away in pain – he was later found to have a scratch mark that measured 2cm.

Guy was then escorted by another police officer into a police car that had arrived, and she then kicked the police officer’s leg.

FATHER SPENDING LOTS OF MONEY ON SICK MISTRESS, DON’T CARE ABOUT OWN FAMILY FINANCES

0

My father has a mistress on the side and the entire family knows about it. However, my mother advised me to keep quiet for the sake of maintaining the status quo and I reluctantly agree.

However, recently, the mistress developed a long-term medical condition and my father is spending alot of money to try to cure her.

As a result, our family finances are badly affected, e.g. our june family vacation had to be cancelled and the COE on my car will not be renewed.

Should I still keep quiet about the mistress or is it time for me to do something about it?

Also, another related question: Whenever the mistress is hospitalised, my father always likes to spend the night at the hospital with her.

On the other hand, when my mum or I are hospitalized,  my father never stays overnight with us.

I want to ask: Is intercourse common when someone of the opposite gender stays the night in your hotel room? In other words, I want to know whether my father is staying overnight just for the s*x or if he loves his mistress more than my mum and me.

Netizens’ comments

  1. QQ- why does your dad have to pay for your COE of your car?? Dun you work?
As for your parents, word of advice. Stay out of it. Even if you voice out your unhappiness, what kind of outcome u want? Think carefully before you blurted out everything.
  2. Your thinking is messed up. You’re more worried about getting money from your dad than him hurting your mom and the family.
And no you have no right to speak up. Your mother tells you to shut up then you shut up.

GF & MOTHER ARE UNHAPPY CAUSE MAN REFUSE TO SHARE HIS 4D WINNINGS WITH THEM

0

I won some money, $8000 to be exact from 4D on the weekend.

And my GF and mum are not happy I’m not sharing with them. My GF said if it was her she would give me half and my mum said she would treat us both if she won.

A bit of back story. I bet on 4D every week. Nothing big only what I can afford. Usually less than $5 every Saturday. My GF and mum don’t go to Singapore Pools at all. I’ve won a few times my biggest win was $2000 and I gave my girlfriend $500 then. But nothing near that big any other time

I said they won’t get any money but I’m going to treat my GF on our holiday coming up to something she wants.

My reasoning is because they never gamble I would never get any money, which I’m fine with and when I lose every week they don’t give me any money towards my losses which I don’t expect them to, so why would I give away anything when I’ve won.

Plus if I give away say $2000 to various people because of the losses I’ve made so far I wouldn’t be in that great of a position afterwards.

I’m not advocating gambling. Never risk money you can’t afford to lose.

dealing with this sectionmate who absolutely hates getting arrowed.

once tried to volunteer him for ic as a joke and he got so triggered, he started hurling vulgarities at me. relax ah bro also not asking u go fight war ic only will die meh.

often tries to use his educational background to try to get out of doing stuff. “bro i from xxx only sia idk how do this kinda thing” bruh its not even related to studies or anyt, he just doesnt want to do it. we all know what hes tryna do and it just makes the rest of us feel damn awk and uncomfortable as we nvr meant for it to be discriminatory.

worst thing is that after someone else gets arrowed he starts telling us how and what to do, acting like a know-it-all. just pisses me off. at least follow thru with the acting man.

got called out once for it, eventually admitted that he is just lazy and doesnt want to do it, asking why he should do it. “im only paid $630 a month” we all same rank same pay bro. none of us want to do it either but what makes u so special that u can be exempted from it. this calling out literally had 0 effect on him, still walks around thinking everyone owes him a living and being the most entitled person in the saf

one time we were all called for a job, we were told after finishing it we could all break for lunch. hearing this we all started work immediately. all except for this guy, mf eyepower only. halfway thru the job i heard him go: “eh cb can hurry up not, i damn hungry sia”. i then found out this guy been slacking thruout and replied “bro u not even doing anyt u complain so much for what”. he then proceeded w the usual “i from … only bro idk how to do”. i was getting more pissed and said “ok but everyone here doesnt as well”. he had the balls to ask me why shld he do it as if we were his personal slaves and at that point i had enough of him. gave out a slight chuckle as i cldnt believe what a pathetic waste of life he was being and walked away.

yes i know. you just want to siam arrow, fine by me. just dont be a dick about it.

just wanted to give a quick rant, its been a tough week. this dude is my daily motivation to rso.
