INDIAN NATIONAL KICKED INSIDE MRT, ASKS IF S’PORE BECOMING UNSAFE FOR FOREIGNERS

Is Singapore becoming unsafe for Foreigners?

Today (4th July – 8:30Am) I started to commute from Bukit Panjang towards my work place. As usual the MRT was crowded, I was standing at a corner and was using my phone.

At Beauty world MRT, I got a hard kick on my calf, I ignored as I thought MRT is crowded maybe by mistake someone kicked, and I ignored the situation.

Later I got kicked again harder than before. I looked back, one bulky man mixed race – around 30+ staring at me, one of the passengers told me that this guy is kicking me out of no where, I ignored the 2nd Kick.

At Bugis he kicked me again infront of my eyes. I couldnt stay silent anymore and asked help from the passengers but no one, trust me no one, gave a damn.

I got down at Bugis and he followed and even chased me to try to pick a fight, I got very scared and traumatized and started tearing out of fear.

Idk what joy that guy got out of it but he was literally laughing looking at me being helpless like that. Even now at the travelletor, I asked for help but still no one bothered to move an inch towards me.

I somehow managed to go to the MRT security person and escaped from that man. I made a police report on this but I dont know how helpful will they be.

I have no idea what actions would be taken on this officially, I have not engaged a lawyer.

I need advice if there’s anything I can do about this situation because I am super traumatized and this is definitely not something a daily commuter like me or especially a foreigner of an Indian nationality like me should go thru in a country defined safe like this.

That man did not even looked mentally challenged. He had a well built body and it seemed like he was doing that to me out of racism.

I dont know how long it will take for me to recover from this. And it is definitely not fair if that man can still roam outside freely and without any fear when I am hesitant to even take trains now.

Netizen’s comments

It’s crowded on the train. Do not be afraid to ask him why he kicked u. U sld speak in loud tones too. Challenge him to go to the control station to retrieve the CCTV for viewing on what he has done. Most likely he will hum ji n run off.

HUSBAND CALLED HIS WIFE A “FAT COW”, NOT KNOWING SHE’S PREGNANT

0

We’ve been trying for two years, however, i suffered from an eating disorder when i was young and being so thin made it difficult. My husband has always wanted a big family, I was never so keen and could have been childfree. I work with kids and like them, however so I wasn’t opposed to the idea. (We’ve been married 5 years now.)

My husband left on a trip with his friends, I was excited for him because i had gotten to travel with friends after graduation and so i encouraged him to go with his friends without me so he could have a similar experience (I hadn’t slept around during so i don’t think i got anything better being single while going haha…). I even put 5k into it for him as a surprise.

I found out i was pregnant pretty early after he left. I am now 10 weeks.

I didn’t tell him (or anyone else) because i thought it should be something done in person and I didn’t want him to feel guilty about being away for the first few weeks. Which has really just been me feeling horribly ill.

While he was away my doctor suggested i really work on putting on weight. (Healthy weight) and i have mindfully added about 300-400 cals to my daily intake.

Its been shocking and effective, and finally, since i was a teen, i am in a nearly healthy weight range.

I threw a party for him when he arrived and had some family and friends there, i had meant to tell him in private and offer to tell everyone that day, if he wanted to.

I literally had the ultrasound in my hand and was coming around to where he was standing outside and heard him and his sister talking. SIL has always been kind to me and I thought we were good friends but she laughed and said (paraphrased) “OP was always so thin, what happened. maybe she’s got a medical condition. Never thought she’d been the cow in the family.” and my husband just laughed, and said, ‘maybe not quite a cow, but she’ll need to loose it now that im back. I’ll take her for a couple runs with me.”

I was just frozen. And i just left and drove to my freinds house on autopilot.

At first i was so numb, but now I feel like i suddenly hate him. I feel gross knowing this fetus is half his. And I’m just in such shock.

He knows how close i came to dying so many times while i was a teen from my ED and hearing him call me that has sent me into a spiral. I haven’t told him I’m pregnant now and i don’t want to talk to him.

He’s been messaging me raging about how i could have left him after months of not seeing him but im just staying at my friend’s house and have been for the last 3 days. I’m trying to get an appointment with my therapist before i talk to him because I’m just not okay right now. I honestly dont know what to do. I feel like everything is just ruined and i wish he hadn’t come back because i really just dont know how to move on from this.

I feel like i need to respond, but i just dont know what to say to him; my therapist doesn’t have an open spot until Friday.

I need some advice, ANY advice because it feels like i’m drowning in my resentment for this man i seriously trusted my whole world to.

MAN SICK OF BEING POOR – “MOST OF US ARE ONLY A FEW WEEKS AWAY FROM POVERTY”

0

I am sick to death of being poor and debt and being desperate, stressed and tired. I am sick to death of getting notifications for payments due, and tearfully paying them because I can’t take the interest.

I am sick to death of my partner and I working so, so hard and such long hours and having to maintain a house and prepare a meal.

I am sick to death of letting my friends and family down because I am too tired to hold a conversation.

I am sick of going to work and pretending to be a happy go lucky person. I am sick and tired of things starting to get better and then something just comes up. I am sick to death of the fact that we did what everyone says to and get “good” jobs, only to find that it only makes life marginally better.

And I am really, really, really sick of rich people exploiting people who are already drowning and are desperate.

We don’t even have it worse than a great deal of other people, we don’t even have kids so I understand we are not as easy to sympathise with. But it’s hard.

Please, remember, most of us are only a few really unlucky weeks or month from abject poverty. The struggle is real.

SIS-IN-LAW ACCIDENTALLY SENT TEXT INSULTING BRIDE TO THE BRIDE

0

My future SIL accidentally sent a text about me to me, insulting how I looked in wedding dresses I tried on.

I (28F) have been with my fiancé (40M) for 6.5 years. We got engaged in December 2020 and our wedding is in March 2023. It has always been pretty clear that his family, mostly his sisters-in-law, don’t like me. For 6 years I have been trying so hard to be accepted by them, but their disdain is obvious and they do not hide it well. That was outright proven last night.

I tried to involve them in the wedding planning process so in a group chat I texted his three SILS and his mom some favorites from when I went wedding dress shopping. His mom commented that they were all lovely dresses. SIL1 (40s F) put a “heart” emote on the dress she liked best. SIL2 (30sF) was busy at work and chimes in later, doing the same. Immediately after that, another text from SIL1 comes in: “I hate how you can see her tattoo in most of them.” (With a face palm emoji.)

I was crushed. Not even that the comment was that bad, but this just confirms that she’s been talking about me in a mean way to another family member, and that really stings. I’m not surprised, the two SILs are huge gossipers, but it doesn’t stop it from hurting. This day is so special, every bride wants to feel beautiful….and I just wanted to be nice and involve them since they are future family.

To make matters worse, she tried to say that it was meant for a different text message, where they were talking about somebody else. So not only does she think I look like crap in the dresses, but she also thinks I’m an idiot.

Both SILs tried to cover the mistake in the chat by acting more excited, asking questions and saying compliments, but that only made it worse. I haven’t said anything.

How do I move forward from this? Do I say anything at all? I can include screen shots of the texts in the comments if requested.

FIRE AT BUKIT PANJANG, MAN SEEN SCREAMING IN PAIN ON THE GROUND

A fire broke out in the early hours of 3 July, in a car at Block 216 Petir Road at Bukit Panjang, as onlookers gathered at the foot of the block to witness the horrifying scenes, according to Shin Min Daily News.

They watched on in horror as a man screamed in pain while lying face down on the ground, as paramedics attended to him.

An eyewitness who was at the scene, Mdm Kasidah Yusoff, said that the entire window in front of her flat was glowing bright orange, and she could feel the heat emanating from below, according to The Straits Times.

Rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived at about 4am after receiving a call for assistance, with Mdm Kasidah saying that she saw a man screaming for help and lying on the ground, but they couldn’t do anything as the fire was too big, and he was already being attended to by the paramedics.

SMDNN reported that the man is believed to have been the driver of the burning vehicle, and that he was reportedly unable to start the car when it burst into flames.

The fire damaged two other cars and a van that was parked nearby.

The SCDF said that they used 4 compressed air foam jets to extinguish the fire, and the man was conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital with burn injuries.

At the time of writing, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

LAWRENCE WONG – UP TO $700 CASH TO BE GIVEN TO 1.5M S’POREANS IN AUGUST

0

Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, shared in a lengthy Facebook update about the rising costs of living.

He said that he understands that many people are concerned about the rising costs and costs of living, and provided an update on the support for households and businesses.

Here is what he said

I understand many of us are concerned about rising costs and the cost of living. Just like many countries around the world, Singapore too is affected by global inflation.

That is why I have given an update in Parliament of Singapore today, that we are providing support for our households and businesses now, and also helping our businesses to build their capabilities for the long-term.

This includes:

  • Up to $700 *moneybag emoji* in Aug this year for 1.5 million Singaporeans. This will benefit lower- to middle-income citizens, including retirees.
  • $100 in CDC Vouchers in May, and another two tranches of $200 each in CDC Vouchers over the next 2 years
  • About 5-7 months worth of rebates on utility bills for the whole of FY2022 for 3- and 4-room flat households

And if the situation worsens significantly, we will be prepared to do more, especially to take care of the vulnerable amongst us. We will get through this together, and come out stronger as one Singapore.

SIAO LANG AUNTIE WHO KICKED LIVESTREAMER’S FOOD, ARRESTED

A Twitch streamer, 39-year-old Clarence Kang, and his wife, 37-year-old Angelica Mendoza, were streaming on the side of a pedestrian walkway outside Buona Vista MRT station when a woman wearing a skin care face mask confronted them.

She was seen in the live stream telling the couple that they are “not supposed to do this here”, and telling them to “switch off that thing before I call the police” as she pointed at Kang’s camera.

Kang then told her that he was just chatting with his friends, to which the woman then repeated threatened to call the police on him.

Kang then told her to go ahead ma’am, thank you and have a nice day.

Told him “I will kick you”

The auntie then told him “don’t call me ma’am, I will not teach you anything”, to which she then threatened Kang, saying “I will kick you. Do you want me to kick your @ss?”

She then walked over and stood beside the couple, before telling them that they are “not supposed to eat here”, and Kang then said that he was not even eating the food.

The food that the auntie was referring to, could be seen in the video packed inside a plastic bag, unopened.

Kicked the couple’s food

The auntie then abruptly kicked the food on the ground, spilling it all over the floor, and Kang then finally had enough and threw a packet of drinks at the woman.

They then asked the crazed woman to compensate them for the food that she destroyed, as the woman continued to stand beside them, before following Kang around for several minutes.

She even took off her shoes and continued to follow him around.

Pinned to the ground and started singing

About 10 minutes after she showed up, a passer-by stepped in to stop the “face-mask auntie”, and was screaming as she was pinned down to the ground by the kind samaritan.

Moments later, the face-mask auntie started singing as she was being pinned down, and the police were then called.

The police later arrived at the scene and Kang then stopped the recording.

Arrested

The police confirmed with The New Paper that they had received a call for help at 100 North Buona Vista Road on 28 June at about 10.58pm.

A 41-year-old woman was arrested under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008.
