HAUNTED HOUSE OPENS TO PUBLIC, LET TOURIST EXPERIENCE HAUNTING

Sabah is looking to promote “dark tourism” to boost the tourism industry.

They are looking to allow visitors access to historical places that are said to be haunted.

Jafry Ariffin, Sabah’s Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, said after visiting the Agnes Keith House:

“Right now, throughout the world, there is this kind of dark tourism especially for visitors and there are many who are enthusiastic about it.”

“But it requires some level of courage, so those with a weak heart, better not.”

The Agnes Keith house was named after an author who lived there with her Husband Harry Keith, and described the apparition sighting at the house.

The house is said to be haunted with many mysterious happenings being experienced by locals.

12 POLICE REPORTS FILED AFTER POURING WATER INTO NEIGHBOUR’S HOME

Lee Soh Geok is facing harassment after she repeatedly pours soapy water from into the neighbours home claiming that she was cleaning her neighbour Helen Lim Hai Loon’s roof.

Lee is facing 3 charges under the Protection from Harassment Act. In a span of 1.5 years between 29 Jan 2019 and 22 May 2020, the police received 12 reports of harassment.

The incident happened at Citylife condominium in Tampines, Lee who stays on the 2nd floor repeatedly pours water down to the roof extension of Lim’s unit who is staying at level 1.

Lee would even bounce her basketball for up to 45mins to disturbed the neighbour downstairs. This has happened on several occasions.

Lim managed to took several videos of Lee in the act, at one time it was even in the middle of the night(“yeah right…. cleaning…”)

The case has been adjourned to September, if Lee is found guilty of abusive behaviour she can be fined up to SGD$5,000

MOTHER WALKING HER SON ON LEASH, BUT PET DOG WALKING FREE

A photo emerged online showing a mother out for a walk with her son and dog.

She was seen walking her son with a leash attached to his backpack.

While her pet dog was walking unleashed and on its own.

The incident doesn’t appear to have happened in Singapore.

32 Y.O ARRESTED FOR CHEATING, SELLING MOBILE PHONE WITH “INSTALLMENT”

According to a Police media release, a 32-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases.

On 6 July 2021, the Police received a report from a victim saying that an online seller had cheated him. The seller had allegedly offered to sell the victim a mobile phone under an instalment plan. After the first instalment payment was made by the victim, the sellers goes missing in action

Officers from Woodlands Police Division was able to identify the suspect after investigations.The man was subsequently arrest on 7 July 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that this is not an isolated incident as the man is believed to be involved in at least three other cheating cases.

The man will be charged in court on 9 July 2021 with cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.

FEW HUNDRED INDIAN WORKERS TO ENTER SINGAPORE THROUGH PILOT PROGRAMME

Workers from Indian will soon return to Singapore in July under a pilot programme.

They will be employed by companies in the marine and construction sectors.

The associations stress that the workers will enter Singapore in a safe manner and testing will be done to check against Covid-19.

Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL), Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) and Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) released a statement stating that “The end-to-end process focuses on proactive testing of the workers through a COVID-19 testing regime over a 14-day period at specified on-boarding facilities at source country before departure for Singapore,” 

This programme serves as a trial and if it is successful there will be more migrant workers coming into Singapore.

A spokesman from the association told Channel News Asia that “A few hundred workers” will arrive from India as part of the pilot programme

Previously, Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong said that more migrant workers will be allowed to work in Singapore

“This will ease the immense pressures our companies have been under since the start of the pandemic,” said Gan Kim Yong

MAN BOUGHT STUN DEVICE FOR PROTECTION FROM “ENEMIES”, JAILED

Alexander Aw Boon Hao, 30-years-old, was sentenced to 4 months jail earlier today (9 July) after pleading guilty to a charge of illegally possessing a stun device.

Another charge of voluntarily causing hurt to his girlfriend was considered during sentencing.

He was also fined $3,000, failure to pay will result in an additional 2 weeks jail.

He had bought a stun device shaped like an iPhone to protect himself from his “enemies”.

What happened?

Aw bought a stun device online through Wish for $20 in August last year.

He then tested the device on himself and suffered pain and bruises.

He would then carry it with him when he went out, fully aware that it was illegal.

On 26 November, he got into an argument and fight with his girlfriend inside a taxi, he then took out the stun device and told her to keep quiet.

Upon reaching their flat in Ang Mo Kio, she called the police.

She mentioned that she was puzzled seeing Aw with 2 phones around, and that a customer at the coffeeshop where she worked told her that it might be a stun device.

Officers then discovered the device in Aw’s sling bag.

Aw then told the officers that it was a signal jammer instead, but couldn’t follow up on his lie with an explanation as to why he would need a signal jammer.

He then admitted that it was a stun device after it was tested on the spot, with the device producing a crackling spark.

13 MEN INVESTIGATED FOR ILLEGAL HORSE BETTING @ MARSILING & WOODLANDS

According to a Police media release, 13 men aged between 57 and 82 are facing investigations from the Police for their suspected involvement in illegal horse betting & non-compliance with safe distancing measures (SDM).

Officers from Woodlands Police Division conducted 2 raids on 3 July and 7 July 2021 at Woodlands and Marsiling.

During the raid, cash amounting to about $3100, two mobile phones and betting paraphernalia were seized.

Investigations revealed that seven men, aged 57 to 74 were allegedly involved in illegal betting activities in public locations along Woodlands St 82 and the other 5 men aged between 65 and 82 were gambling along Marsiling Rise

Investigations are ongoing.

Under the Betting Act, any person who bets with a bookmaker shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding SGD$5,000 and/or up-to a maximum of six months

If the man involved are convicted of bookmaking they will face a minimum fine of SGD$20,000 and a maximum of SGD$200,000 along with 5 years maximum jail term

For non-compliance with safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, offenders may be jailed for up to six months and/or fined up to a maximum of SGD$10,000.

FW SCOLD & WHACK BUS DRIVER WHO TOLD HIM TO WEAR MASK PROPERLY, JAILED

Nadarajan Mariesusy, 40-years-old, a Malaysian, pleaded guilty to 1 count each of harassment, assault and breaching the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act.

He was sentenced to 2 weeks imprisonment along with a fine of $4,000 (that will equal to 8 addition days in jail if he cannot pay).

Mariesusy reportedly used vulgarities on a bus driver and assaulted him after being asked to wear his mask properly.

What happened?

on 31 July last year at around 7.50pm, Mariesusy boarded bus 130 along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

He was seen with his mask covering only his chin as he was talking to his wife on the phone.

The bus driver, Mr Sulaiman, asked h8im to wear his mask properly, to which he did so and sat down at the back of the bus.

The driver later saw him with his mask down again.

When the driver later stopped at a bus stop, he turned to the back of the bus to tell the man to wear the mask properly again, highlighting that it was required under Singapore law.

Mariesusy then walked towards the driver as the bus was moving and used vulgarities on him, assaulting him before alighting.

The victim felt that he was no longer able to drive and contacted the SBS Ops office, and a colleague then alerted the police.

10 MASSAGE OUTLETS TO CLOSE FOR 10 DAYS AFTER GETTING CAUGHT BY POLICE

According to a Police media release, at least 10 massage establishments were told to close for breaching Safe Management Measures.

The Police conducted checks on over 300 massage shops and found that some of the customers or masseuses were not wearing a mask during the massage. The Police said that it is the duty of the masseuse to ensure that the customers are wearing a mask when and before the massage is performed.

3 other massage outlets don’t have license

The operators are being investigated for carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence under Section 5(1) of the Massage Establishment Act 2017. The offence carries a fine not exceeding S$10,000, imprisonment of up two years, or both. For repeat offenders, the offence carries a fine not exceeding S$20,000, imprisonment of up five years, or both.

Massage establishment operators who do not comply with safe management measures may be liable for a fine not exceeding $10,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or both, for the first offence. For subsequent offences, higher penalties of a fine of up to $20,000, imprisonment for up to twelve months, or both, may apply.

Members of the public are advised to take the prevailing safe distancing measures seriously. For non-compliance with safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.

HDB RESIDENT MISTAKES SALTED FISH FOR DEAD BABY, CALLS THE POLICE

A resident from Block 3 Teck Whye Lane smelled a foul stench from outside her home on 4 July.

The smell then got even stronger as the days passed, and she even noticed some drops of black liquid that smelled really bad outside her window.

She cleaned up the liquid but the stench remained.

She then noticed a basket hanging outside the window of an upstairs neighbour, where the smell and liquid had come from.

Thinking that the basket contained a dead baby, she made a report to the town council but the situation remained unchanged.

So she decided to call the police.

The police arrived and spoke to the upstairs neighbour, and realised that it contained salted fish and ginger.

He neighbour didn’t touch the salted fish as it didn’t belong to him, but to his former wife rather.

He then apologised and took down the basket.
