GIRL CANCELS DINNER WITH FRIEND WHO ALWAYS “PUT HER ON AEROPLANE”

0

My friends are calling me a ignorant person for refusing to go to a friend’s birthday party after they canceled our plans

This is a pretty conflicting situation and I don’t know what to think. I have been friends for years with that person but they do have a habit of canceling plans and often giving fake excuses.

Well it was their birthday this week so I offered to take them out for lunch. Everything was going very well, they seemed excited for it and I was too. I try not to be pessimistic but with their history of canceling stuff, it can be hard to not think about the chances of them canceling last minute.

Unfortunately, I was correct, the night before (pretty late at night too) they sent me a message saying how they really don’t feel good and that we will have to cancel the lunch plans. I try to be understanding even though it hurts me, but what really ruined it all for me is that they posted stories and pictures of partying with friends. It sent me through a pretty massive existential crisis after all this time of dealing with this behaviour, and I essentially cried all night.

They are the king of putting people on aeroplane

This is where I might be wrong though, the next morning I still checked on them to make sure that they were okay (old habits, even though I probably shouldn’t have). They said that they were still feeling really bad but that we should still see each other for dinner later that day.

I really didn’t feel like it so I told them that I’d think about it. I did consider going to not make the situation worse, and to not ruin their birthday, but I ended up saying that I really wasn’t in a good place to celebrate today, but that we could reschedule.

That’s what makes me think I did something wrong, as I essentially did the same thing that they constantly do to me instead of being honest. I hurt their feelings a lot by canceling and I feel very very guilty for that, but at the same time I’m really fed up with this entire situation.

MAN TESTS POSITIVE FOR MONKEYPOX AFTER TRANSITING THROUGH CHANGI AIRPORT

The Singapore Ministry of Health said in a news release on 6 June that they were informed about a confirmed case of monkeypox by the health ministry of New South Wales.

Transited through Changi Airport

The traveller had transited through Singapore to Australia on 2 June, before testing positive there (Australia) after arriving in Sydney on 3 June.

Prior to this, the man had departed Barcelona on 1 June and arrived at Changi Airport on 2 June for his transit flight.

MOH highlighted that the case did not enter Singapore or interact with anyone in the community, and there is no significant risk of community transmission.

Contact tracing

They have also conducted contact tracing for the two affected flights and those who might have come into contact with the traveller at the airport transit area.

13 persons who may have had casual contact with the infected traveller have been put on phone surveillance for 21 days, where they will receive daily phone calls to check on their health status for the entire duration.

MOH’s statement

The Ministry of Health (MOH) was informed on 4 June 2022, by the New South Wales Ministry of Health, of one confirmed case of monkeypox who had transited through Singapore to Australia on 2 June.

The traveller arrived in Sydney on 3 June and had tested positive for monkeypox there. He had departed from Barcelona on 1 June and arrived at Changi Airport on 2 June. He had remained in the transit holding area at Changi Airport until his departure for Sydney on the same day, and did not visit other areas in Changi Airport.

As the case did not enter Singapore or interact with persons in the community, there is currently no significant risk of community transmission. However, as a precautionary measure, we have conducted contact tracing for the two affected flights and those who might have come into contact with the traveller at the airport transit area.

There were no assessed close contacts, and hence no requirement for quarantine. However, we have put 13 persons who may have casual contact with the traveller on phone surveillance for 21 days. Persons under phone surveillance will receive daily phone calls to ascertain their health status until the end of the monitoring period. Should they report symptoms that are suggestive of monkeypox infection, they will be medically assessed and may be conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases for further evaluation.

COMMUTERS @ BUGIS MRT MIGHT BE ASKED TO GO THROUGH SECURITY SCREENING

The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement on Facebook that commuters travelling to and from Bugis MRT station might face slight delays in their travel time today (6 June).

This is because commuters might be asked to go through a security screening, as part of Exercise Station Guard.

The Exercise Station Guard is a regular exercise that validates the security measures at public transport nodes.

it also helps commuters to familiarise themselves with how to respond should they be an emergency that happens on the public transport network.

LTA also advised commuters to factor in additional travel time on their commute and to avoid bringing in bulky items.

Here is LTA’s statement on Facebook

MAN SERVES FOOD WITH ALCOHOL TO NEIGHBOURS, TRIGGERS ARGUMENT

0

I am a classically-trained French chef. I have spent the last 11 years training and cooking in restaurants in France. I met my wife 5 years ago when she was on vacation in France, we fell in love and she lived with me in France. When we decided wanted to start a family, she expressed a desire to move back to her hometown in SG so we can be closer to her family. We have made the move as of last week.

When we made the official move into our house, moving in some furniture from France and some bought furniture, we had a bunch of neighbors come out and help us. What was expected to take 4 or 5 hours of moving in and arranging and putting away ended up taking 2 hours as suddenly 15 people came over to help, with snacks and drinks and advice about the home and neighbourhood. I was so grateful and surprised at this kindness, so I offered to cook them all a grand meal 3 days later. Some turned the offer down because of their kids or schedule.

I ended up cooking a 4-course French dinner for 3 other couples. They all absolutely loved my entree of Gigot qui Pleure with a pan sauce, some even asking for seconds of it. I ended up making copies of the recipe for them as a final thank you since they loved it so much. When I gave them the recipes they looked absolutely shocked, they didn’t realize the pan sauce had red wine in it and they are not allowed to consume alcohol because of their religious reasons.

They ended up getting very angry at me, saying I am trying to corrupt them with alcohol and that I should respect other people’s beliefs and dietary restrictions. My wife is very upset and feels like I ruined our first chance at making friends in our new neighbourhood.

People I have talked to about this have been very split about if I am wrong or not. Some say I should have studied up on the local dietary restrictions and modified my recipes to match, while others have said that as the people with the dietary restrictions, they should have mentioned them well before the preparation of the meal to make sure those restrictions are met, just like someone with an allergy would mention it.

Have I done wrong?

GUY CRIED IN FRONT OF DATE AFTER COMEDIAN MAKES FUN OF HIM AT SHOW

0

I went to a stand up show for a date, got made fun, and then ended up crying in front of my date.

It was my 4th date with her and I really liked her and enjoyed seeing her but now I’m screwed.

So she had the idea to go to a stand up event where comics came up and did their set. 3 out of 5 of the comments made me a part of their routine.

They all just went in on me for the way I looked, dressed, and constantly made it a point that the girl I was seeing was out of my league. One asked how much I paid for her to be my date.

I tried to be good natured about it. I tried to not let it get to me. But honestly my self esteem is such crap anyways and I couldn’t help to take everything they said personally because all of it was true.

I ended up crying by the time the last comic came up and the girl noticed and said that we should leave before it gets worse.

I dropped her off and I tried texting her apologizing for ruining the date and I haven’t gotten a response.

MAN WANTS TO BE A HOUSEHUSBAND, JUST TAKE CARE OF WIFE & NO NEED WORK

0

I want to be a house husband.

Exactly like the title says. I want to cook for my SO everyday, serve them breakfast as soon as they’re ready, pack them a super cute home made lunch everyday, and prepare awesome dinners for when she gets home.

I want to go to the gym and get super fit, clean the house, fix everything in the house. Walk the dogs, play with the cat, fix the car.

I want to do all of that, while never needing to go to a formal job again.

Netizens’ comments

  • You’re talking from my soul. We already know my girlfriend will earn double my money and of course I will and can provide as well but I’d love to stay at home, cook and clean etc.
  • After being a working mom for almost 15 years, I wish my husband wanted this.
  • I want to be a housewife so bad I can’t stand it, but I’m currently the breadwinner. We’re working towards me not having to work by owing nothing to nobody, but we’re not there yet. I was laid off during COVID and I took me 7 months to find a new job. I stayed constantly busy with the kids, I loved it.
  • Still searching for a girl who wants to work full time so i can be a house husband. I love cooking and taking care of children doing stuff around the house. I hope you achieve your dream

BF’S FRIEND TOOK EVERYONE OUT & PAID FOR EVERYONE’S DINNER EXCEPT GIRL

0

My (21F) boyfriend (22M) and I went out to dinner with his best friend, he invited us, to an expensive steakhouse.

I do not like steak but went because it’s his best friend. He told me his friend wanted to treat him to dinner since he (his friend) got a big sale but wouldn’t pay for me.

I felt awkward at first but let it go since my boyfriend said he would pay for me since his friend payed for him.

When we get there his friend said no offense but im not paying for you. It was extremely awkward and felt like a diss to me since he was paying for himself, his girlfriend, and my boyfriend. I paid the tip as well.

I told my boyfriend that made me so uncomfortable because he kept joking about how he wasn’t paying for me and when we explained the check to the waitress she was confused and his friend said, “there’s two couples here she must be confused why you’re paying for yourself haha.” It felt like a diss to me.

I told my boyfriend the next day it made me uncomfortable and felt like a diss to me as his girlfriend. He said well its because I’m not family yet.

So you say you love me but I’m not family? Idk but I was taught and have seen when someone invites people out to a celebratory dinner of their success of wealth they normally pay for the whole table.

Idk for me it was rude of him to exclude me then joke about it and be like “no offense.”

I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu because I don’t like that type of food.

I’m just feeling rejected and annoyed as my boyfriend didn’t really defend my feelings, and just said “well you’re not family yet.”
