A man in Singapore had reported went to court after paying a woman $300,000, after she claimed that she had given birth to twins that were his.

He went to court to find out if the children even existed, seeking information about the birth and location of the twins before deciding whether he is going to sue the woman.

High Court judge Lee Seiu Kin said in his written grounds that “reality, as some say, is sometimes stranger than fiction”.

Issuing his ground on 25 May, Justice Lee explained why he allowed the man’s application for information, with the parties not named in the grounds, which briefly explains the case details.

The woman had told the man in August 2019 that she was pregnant with non-identical twins, and that over the next 2 years, she repeatedly told him that he was the father.

The twins were allegedly born in June 2020 at an unnamed hospital.

The man didn’t admit that he was the father, but still, he paid more than $314,000 to the woman for her medical expenses.

He then continued to press her for proof that the twins existed until August last year, and for her to prove that he was the father.

However, the woman only provided him with copies of alleged birth certificates, as well as a picture of two babies.

She also claimed that the twins had been sent to China, and that one of the babies was given away by her mother.

The man then searched the ICA website for birth records of the twins in October last year but couldn’t find anything.

He then proceeded to take out a court application to get the woman to provide information and documents related to the alleged babies, including information on where and when they were born, the names of the medical personnel to helped deliver the baby, as well as the people who have custody of the children.

Justice Lee added that the application was needed to allow the man to determine if he has a viable claim in unjust enrichment or deceit.

The information leading to the identification to the twins cannot be published, as ordered by another judge, including the identities of the man and woman.

The Singapore Police Force said in a statement on 3 June that 5 people were arrested for their suspected involvement in a series of car thefts from workshops, including a suspect who is 18-years-old.

The police had received reports from 23 May to 31 May that 6 cars were stolen from workshops located around the Kim Chuan Terrace area and Kaki Bukit Road 4.

Cars were unlocked

According to their preliminary investigations, the cars were unlocked and the keys were left inside the vehicles, parked at the workshops.

The identities of 6 people were established by officers from Bedok and Ang Mo Kio Police Division through the use of police and CCTV cameras, as well as ground enquiries.

5 of the suspects between the ages of 18 and 45 were arrested from 1 June to 3 June.

Suspect found with someone else’s IC

One of the quintet of suspects, a 29-year-old man, was allegedly found with an identity card of someone else without lawful authority, and he was arrested for an additional offence under the National Registration Act 1965.

5 of the stolen cars have since been recovered, and the police are still investigating a 42-year-old man, and two women aged 34 and 36.

The 29-year-old man, an 18-year-old girl and a 45-year-old man, were charged in court earlier today with theft of motor vehicle with common intention.

A Facebook user, shared how she had engaged maid after maid (3 maids in total) from an employment agency at Bukit Timah.

She alleged that the maids were all problematic, and she had to keep paying extra money because of it, paying over $11k in a year for maids who cannot work.

First maid complain everywhere pain

Beware of this *agency name redacted* at Bukit Timah.

Since Jan2021 to Oct2021, I already signed 3 engagement contract with them. They did not assist us and they did not provide me with the right FDW. I had already paid over $11k to the agency within a year.

The first one was problematic. She went hiding in the toilet every hours. Broke many things in my house, unable to do housework because stomach pain, leg pain, hand pain even her hair also pain. She told me that she doesn’t know how to iron my clothes. She wakes up later then all of us and took 1hr to do her hair treatment. She even tell me she sense ghost.

I had feedback all these to the agency but the agency asked us to wait and wait until finally we cannot stand

Paid $5k for 2nd maid who went MIA

FDW anymore and return to the agency. The agency transferred the first FDW. I had doubt on this and the agency transfer her, earning another agency fee?

I paid another $5k for the second FDW although it stated free agency fee?

After near to 2 months wait, there was no updates from the agency until we contacted them. To our surprise, the Second FDW went MIA even before she arrive.

3rd maid keeps crying because homesick

Again, I have to shortlist another FDW and signed a third engagement with the agency. After waiting for months and the third one arrive my house for 10days and she was seriously homesick.

When I called the agency about the emotional crying FDW, the agency just tell me to wait. When we informed the agency that I cannot keep the FDW and I will be sending her to the agency, to my surprise, the agency just closed their door on us. My husband have to went catching with the agency staff waiting outside the ladies toilet together with the crying FDW.

The agency did nothing to assist me when the FDW run away. The agency did not even inform me when the FDW run away from their agency.

I had to call police and call MOM seeking their advise.

The FDW was then sent back to her country by MOM. The FDW told MOM that we are very nice people but the agency does not want to release her and they kept her in the agency. She was very homesick, that she run away.

The FDW run away when they were house by the agency. The agency just push all responsibilities to us. I had all the whatsapp chat log with the agency. I had CCTV installed at my house as I have two children.

Within a year, I paid over $11k to the agency and I still don’t have a helper. 

Feels cheated

*agency name redacted* and *agency name redacted* they are under the same roof. I waited for months and they did not assist us on this matter.

I felt so cheated after paying so much and I have no helper.

I contacted the police and had feedback serveral times to MOM, went to CASE and now at SCT. I felt that no one is helping me and the agency still continue to con other people.

I felt that I need to do something so that no other victim will fall into this scam.

Imagine that I spent over $11k within a year and the agency FDW all cannot work?

Please think twice before you engage them.
