I received a call from “Customer Service Officer” Eric Ho (62351981) from Maybank Jurong Point branch. He told me over the phone that he is calling to remind me that I have not made any payment to my loan that I applied with Maybank.

I told him that was not true as I have not applied any loans at all. He further assured me that I did opened a (current account: 5304 8322 1190) on 16 Feb 2022 at Jurong Point branch and that I have applied $50k loan (Loan Account: 779 000 4489) thereafter and the loan was approved on 20 Apr 2022. I then informed him that this is fraud.

He told me he would submit my request to his department to make a Police report at the Commercial Affair Department. He then told me that he was going to transfer me internally to their CAD emergency line and advise me to wait for the transfer call to be linked, I agreed. During line transfer, I hung up the call. straight away “CAD” called me back (62354037 & 62353360).

2nd Story: ONLINE FRIEND HURLED VULGARITIES AFTER I REFUSED HIM MONEY

Meet this guy via okc, he claimed he working in jurong island, from Canada, only sons in the family, 42 year old.

After talking on WhatsApp’s for about 3 weeks and we decided to meet up, he suddenly said he have cash flow issue for his workers, he needed sgd4.8k for his business, else he will lost his entire project.

After I rejected him on his request, he started to insult me on text and scolded me with vaulgar words.

3rd Story: MY ACCOUNT WAS HACKED AFTER I GAVE MY OTP

Game account hacked, I was selling my cod mobile account as I was getting bored of the game,and my dad strongly advised me to take back the money I spent via Carousell. Anyways, the scammer approached me under the status of an interested customer when he requested letting him take a brief look in the account,i agreed, however, he said he had trouble logging in due to a “2-step verification” feature, and that I send him the OTP. Thinking nothing of it at the time, I sent it to him, and before long,

i had received a notification stating that my email and password had been changed to another one. I was extremely shocked, and went back to the app to confront the scammer. However, he simply laughed and belittled me,before blocking me. I have attempted to make actions by contacting the help centre of the platform my account was in, as well as Carousell.

A friend of mine also attempted to threaten him into returning account, but the scammer was suspended before he could make actions. Now, I have no way to reach him.

2.it happened just today, 1st june

On 25/05/2022 at about 11.30AM, I was at Nibong LRT station and proceeded to a convenience store that was on level 2 to purchase cigarettes and some groceries. Subsequently, I realised that the cigarette price increased and further enquired with the cashier on the price.

The cashier confirmed with me and I mentioned that it doesn’t matter, and I will pay the difference. Subsequently, I asked her to check with the management on the price difference and her husband who was the owner did confirm that the price is intended SGD$9.90 for the pack of cigarettess. She told me that I had an attitude and that if I didn’t want to purchase. I didn’t have to. Immediately after, she told me and my wife that she was not going to sell anything to us.

I agreed to her and left the store. As I was leaving the store, the cashier threw a bottle of coke in our direction, but it did not hit either one of us. I ignored her and continued to walk away. As I was heading down to level 1, I bumped into the husband.

I would like to mention that I frequently buy items from her store and recognize most of the staff that’s working there. The husband was agitated and told me what happened and why I smashed up the store. I denied that I did and only wanted to enquire about the price difference.

Subsequently, in the midst of talking, the husband gave me a punch on the right side of my face and continued to punch. The glasses that I wore broke. I could not remember how many punches he gave me. I told him to stop and walked away but he followed me and kicked me on the stomach.

Afterwards, he requested me to follow him to his store and I did. We further talked in his store and there was no damage to be found.

Only a few lighters dropped off the shelf. I did mention to him that I could pay if there was any damage to be found but he told me that it was not a matter of money. I would like to State that he kept threatening me to go down and fight. I did not talk back to him and left afterwards. My wife called the police afterwards but as I was in a rush for work.

I told her that I did not require any police assistance. I did not visit any clinic and have Panadol at home. The right side of my face is still swollen, and I feel slightly giddy.

34-year-old Niki Han Jiayi, a director of a fashion store, was fined $3,000 on 2 June for not wearing her mask at her Far East Plaza Shop on several occasions during the pandemic.

She was seen in her Facebook live videos without a mask on, interacting with customers, as well as modelling a dress in September and October 2020.

Han pleaded guilty to three charges under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, with 18 other similar charges being considered for her sentencing.

Han is listed as a director and shareholder of Nimisski Fashion, as well as 3 other companies with the name Nimisski.

The fashion shop sells women’s clothing and accessories and has outlets at Suntec City and Paragon.

Han was hosting a Facebook live stream to sell her products on 29 September 2020, and was seen interacting with customers in the background without a facemask on sometime between 3pm to 4.15pm

She did the same thing again on 6 October 2020, between 3pm to 5pm.

Han was once again seen interacting with customers without a face mask on 17 October between 3pm to 5.50pm, while modelling a dress and promoting it verbally.

Enforcement officers from Singapore Tourism Board conducted online checks of Facebook live videos that were streamed from the premises and she was observed through the videos to have not worn a mask on several occasions.

Han also had an unrelated previous conviction of selling counterfeit products in 2018.

A resident living at a HDB unit at Bedok Reservoir Road, received a surprise visit from an unexpected guest when he was trying to leave his home.

A huge python was spotted outside his unit slithering around his window.

The incident happened on 2 June at about 6.30am, and residents noticed that a huge python was hanging outside a first floor unit at Block 126 Bedok Reservoir Road, according to Shin Min Daily News.

Just chilling

The snake was seen chilling on the window, which was closed at the time, and it was also seen slithering across the window panes.

A cleaner had apparently spotted the python and reported it to the council, and the police were then notified.

The area was then cordoned off by the police and the tenant of the affected unit, said that the police officers told him to stay inside his flat.

ACRES to the rescue

Officers from the Animal Concerns Research and Educations Society (ACRES) then arrived at about 9am to remove the reptile.

The snake was then grabbed safely and placed into an enclosure to be brought away.

Snake likely came from nearby drains

CEO of Acres, Kalai Vanan S/O Balakrishnan said that their officers were not able to get to the affected unit immediately due to the morning traffic jam.

He thanked the town council and the police for ensuring the safety of the members of the public, and that the public was very cooperative and kept a safe distance from the snake.

He added that the python had very likely come from nearby drains and claimed onto the window pane to “feel safer”.

A driver attempted to smuggle two pythons into Singapore and was caught by immigration officers at Tuas Checkpoint.

51-year-old Malaysian Pulenthiran Palaniappan was fined SGD$5,000.

The snakes were later discovered that they were suffering and they there in poor health condition due to poor handling.

Background:

On 7 April 2022, officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) at Tuas Checkpoint conducted checks on a Malaysia-registered lorry transporting cement and uncovered a styrofoam box of live snakes.

The styrofoam box, which was hidden in the lorry’s cabin area, was found to have multiple perforations on its sides. The Malaysian driver had initially claimed that the box contained food but upon further questioning, he admitted that it contained live snakes.

As the driver did not possess valid import permits, he was referred to the National Parks Board (NParks) for investigation. NParks examined the snakes at its Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation. The snakes have been identified as Reticulated Pythons (Malayopython reticulatus), which is a species protected under Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and are around 4.8m and 3.8m long.

Vistara, an Indian airline that is a joint venture of Singapore Airlines and Tata group, was fined after a passenger plane was landed by an untrained first officer who didn’t complete the required training.

A senior official of India’s aviation regulator said that the incident; which happened during a landing in Indore, India last year, was a serious violation, endangering the lives of the passengers on board.

Captain and first officer didn’t complete training

He added that the captain of the flight was also not simulator-trained on how to guide a first officer during landings.

The plane was reportedly landed safely and no injuries or casualties were reported.

Vistara, had 49% of the airline owned by Singapore Airlines and 51% by Tata Group, was fined 1 million rupees (or SGD$17,700).

A “regrettable violation”

Vistara had reportedly voluntarily reported the incident to regulators, with the airline calling it a “regrettable violation”.

They had given take-off and landing clearance to the first officer without any training.

According to the official, both first officers and captains are required to train on flight simulators before they are allowed to land or guide colleagues to land a plane with passengers on board.
