FACEBOOK PAGE POST ADS SELLING ILLEGAL VAPE AND VAPE PODS IN S’PORE

An advertisement on Facebook emerged, showing a Facebook page illegally selling vape devices and vape pods to the Singaporean market.

The Facebook page goes by the name “JY98 Servic”.

The seller even had a sale for the month of April, “lelong, lelong” on Facebook.

He (for convenient reporting, we’re just gonna assume the seller is a guy) is selling his vape devices for $55 and vape pods at $23 per box.

He even had a QR code for his potential customers to scan to contact him to buy.

Singapore flags could be seen on his post, boasting a huge supply and stock available.

A quick look at the Facebook page showed more ads with the caption “U HELP ME I HELP U”.

Under section 16(2A) of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act (TCASA), it is illegal to possess, purchase and use vaporisers in Singapore as of 1 February 2018.

Persons found guilty of this offence can be fined up to $2,000.

Long queues were seen at all 4 regional screening centres waiting for their turn to test for COVID-19 on May 3. One of the centres even persuaded the public to not queue and come another day after 1 hour of opening.

On the 3rd of May at 8am, many people queued for the swap test at the former Da Qiao primary school building. By 11am, the queue extended to a nearby void deck approximately 300m long.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 from the TTSH cluster, the government has provided 4 locations for the public to conduct swab test.

COUPLE PLANNING BTO BUT GF PARENTS REJECT MARRIAGE DUE TO BF LOW SES

Source: Google Maps

A female netizen shares her worries online about her parents not approving her boyfriend due to his social background and economic status. Her parents wanted her to find another partner with a higher economic status as soon as possible as she is already 28 years old

She dated her bf for more than 10 years and claims that her bf is working very hard for their future. Her family is forcing her to choose between her bf and them and she is in a huge dilemma.

Here is her story:

“My boyfriend and I dated for more than 10 years, since our secondary school days. We are planning to get married in 3 years time and are in the midst of choosing bto. However, my parents don’t like him and kept telling me how much they dislike my boyfriend due to his background. My boyfriend lives with his mother and is brought up in a broken family. He also had to take part time uni as he needs an income to pay for his school fees and family expenses. My parents kept reminding me how I could find a much better boyfriend elsewhere and I should change my boyfriend before it’s too late as I’m 28 already. I really love my boyfriend a lot but at the same time, I owe my parents a lot too and I understand why they want me to marry someone richer and more successful. I can see my boyfriend working really hard for our future and apart from being poor, he is really a near perfect human being. Im sure he can succeed in life in the future but my parents doesn’t see it that way. And I’m honestly tired of being torn in between them. It has come to a point that my family is forcing me to choose between them or my boyfriend and I’m torn in between. Its like filial piety vs love… Can anyone tell me what should I do?”

A witness said that the man wandered to the hawker centre around 8am and then suddenly took off a sarong on his body, acting strangely. “He then burned a package of unknown objects which turned to ashes, still chanting words in his mouth.”

He revealed that the man approached him later and threw the ashes into a basket which contained vegetables. Then, the man left before taking off the second sarong and exposed his body.

During that period, a young woman who happened to pass by saw the situation and ran away quickly. The naked man choked and said, “What are you looking at? Haven’t seen it?”

The police stated that they received a report at 8:44 this morning that a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being naked in a public place, and investigations are ongoing.

A female netizen shared her views about being catfished by a guy while using a dating app.

She claimed that the guy that she matched with used photos to portray a K-pop star look but was shocked and disappointed when she found out how he actually looks like. She is contemplating whether to meet with the guy first or ghost him straight.

Here is her story:

“Tldr- should I reject a guy who looks significantly different from his pics on a dating app?Recently I got matched to this guy on a dating app. A big part on why I swiped him is that he has that k drama star look. We chatted via whatsapp for about a week and found that we click pretty well. He soon asked me out and we will be meeting for dinner in a few day’s time. The problem is this, I just found out by chance about his very recent pics from other sources. Tbh, I was surprised and disappointed at the same time about how he looked. We exchanged ig and I saw that his dating app pics were taken 2-3 years back. His ig has not been updated regularly since then and most of his pics were of scenery and group pics where his face is too small to be seen. While he looked cute and vibrant back then, his face has become much rounder, his hair has thinned and he aged quite a fair bit. He’s a high achiever at work and I think it might be his job stresses that cause him to age but still I’m really disappointed. If he has used his current pics, I’d have passed him over srsly. At this stage, should I ghost him straight? Or should I go for the dinner and see, then decide if to ghost him afterwards?”

PAP ASKING MPS TO SUSPEND PHYSICAL MEET-THE-PEOPLE SESSIONS

The People’s Action Party (PAP) has advised their PAP branches to suspend physical Meet-The-People (MPS) sessions and to hold them virtually or through the phone instead.

This is because of the recent increase in the number of unlinked Covid-19 community cases.

PAP said in a news release on 2 May, that the move is to minimise exposure of volunteers and residents.

Tanjong Pagar MP Indranee Rajah said that her team will be temporarily suspending the physical sessions and appealed to the residents to liaise with them through emails and/or Zoom appointments instead.

East Coast MP Jessica Tan and Jalan Besar MP Wan Rizal also sent out similar advisories and alternatives.

However, Marine Parade MP Seah Kian Peng said that door-to-door visits will be suspended for his constituency and that his in-person MPS sessions will continue, albeit under stricter safe management measures.

Physical MPS sessions at the Toa Payoh East branch will also be suspended for 2 weeks.

Tampines North MP Baey Yam Keng also advised residents to email or call them instead.

PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER ALLEGEDLY WHACKED MAID’S FACE WITH HANGER

Nachammai Selva Nachiappan, 39-years-old; and her husband, Arunachalam Muthiah, 41-years-old, faced multiple maid abuse charges earlier today (3 May) for allegedly hitting their maid with a hot ladle and hitting her face with a hanger.

The abuse allegedly started just 11 days after the maid started working.

The offences were allegedly committed between 25 June and 2 August 2018.

Nachammai is claiming trial to 5 charges, including hitting the victim, Hla Hla Miang, 37-years-old, in the face with a hanger and throwing a hot ladle at her.

The accused’s husband, Arunachalam, is facing 3 charges, for allegedly kicking and punching the maid.

The maid testified that she had to work from 4.30am to 11.30pm every day for the family, who are based in a condo at Jalan Mata Ayer.

This was Miang’s first job in Singapore.

Miang is now working for another household here.

The Ministry of Education also said that they would review the case of Nachammai, who works as a primary school teacher, and they would take appropriate actions based on their internal disciplinary processes.

MOE added:

“MOE takes a serious view of staff misconduct and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who fail to adhere to our standards of conduct and discipline, including dismissal from service.”

At the time of writing, the case is still under trial.
