A Facebook user shared some photos online showing SCDF personnel on site at the Singapore River in the early hours of 18 April.
He stated that it was a drowning case and shared that the bodies couldn’t be found for quite some time.
The SCDF confirmed that there was a call for water rescue at around 2am but when they arrived, there were no signs of the persons.
The divers from DART were then deployed to do an underwater search using a Remotely Operated Vehicle, which helps to map out underwater terrain using sonar imaging equipment to aid in underwater search operations.
The bodies of two men were subsequently retrieved, they were aged 26 and 28, and were pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
Recently, there has been an increase in the spate of scams involving delivery personnel of parcel and food delivery companies.
The scammers would pretend to be customers.
The victims would receive a Cash-On-Delivery order through their company’s delivery app.
The scammers, under the pretext of making payment for the delivery, would allegedly ask for the victims’ contact number through the delivery app, claiming to use the contact number to transfer the COD money to the victim.
The victims would then receive a text from the scammer, requesting an acknowledgement, after which monetary deductions would be made from the victim’s bank account.
The scammer would then become MIA and unreachable.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the couple through investigations and they were subsequently arrested on 16 April.
The man is currently still assisting with investigations while the woman (who is allegedly involved in other cheating cases) was charged in court earlier today (17 April).

A Facebook user shared how he witnessed a heart wrenching and sad incident that happened in front of him at a hospital.
An old man was staying in a hospital ward for the last 5 days; his daughter visited him only once, for less than 15 minutes; while his son-in-law just stood aside and didn’t speak at all.
He shared that the daughter and son-in-law looked quite rich and well dressed.
The doctor then told the old man: “Uncle, you can be discharged today already.”
The uncle then asked the doctor, “Can I stay 1 or 2 more days?”
The doctor asked: “Oh… Why?”
The uncle then explained: “Because when I go home nobody take care of me, I need someone to lift me up when I woke up or go toilet because of my major operation still hurt.”
The old man then added: “Can I recover more then discharge? I’m alone…”
The doctor then replied with a sad look: “Okay sure.”
The netizen then urged people to take care of their parents and not to feign filial piety, they are the ones who gave you life and brought you into this world.
Treat your parents well while they are still alive…
