GIRL GOT SLAPPED BY HER DATE THAT HER FRIEND INTRODUCED

0

I got slapped by a guy my friend introduced to me. To this day, she doesn’t believe me

This happened months ago, but I saw her today and felt a wave of memories take over me… so here we go.

My friend and classmate (whom I had known for years and was my ride or die) said she had this single male friend. He was into the same hobbies as me, plus had a similar career choice as me. Being friends with my bestie turned it all into 3 pros and no cons.

So I accept to meet him at a café and it was overall pretty lovely. He was the epitome of nice guy, no apparent red flags. The date was a perfect balance of communication; no one “hoarded” the conversation nor became obsessed with a single topic. 0 phones, too.

We drink our tea and he treats me to some cake just so we can chat for longer. At this point I was really comfortable with him. My friend was Cupid IRL!

Or so I thought. Cause when the date ended and I went to get on the bus, he insisted on taking me home. I had just moved into that place after leaving my shabby, leaky student dorm so I sadly couldn’t risk it. Let alone after a first date. I calmly rejected his offer and said I was not ready for that just yet. Nothing personal.

And his attitude changed. His smile was gone. His jaw was clenched. Called me a time-waster and said I probably assumed he just wanted to sleep with me.

And you know what? I could’ve argued with him for hours but nope. I was not gonna deal with tantrums.

Thanked him for the cake, said I was gonna take the bus indeed and that I would not be seeing him again.

Everything else was a blur. I don’t know what he yelled at me, but I do know that a few seconds later I had my head to the side, skin stinging and hot to the touch.

He left in his car and I called my friend in tears.

She didn’t believe me. Said I probably provoked him. “He’s so sweet with me, I’m not gonna cut him off!”

I lost a friend over a man that hits girls on the first date.

Hope her internalized misogyny doesn’t ever get her hurt. She doesn’t deserve to be in my position.

WOMAN’S RESIGNATION “NOT ACKNOWLEDGED”, TELLS HER TO REPORT TO MOM

0

Resignation problem, Resignation letter was “not acknowledged” instead of “rejected”, asked to do it after long weekend because unfair to have holiday during notice period.

Because they want to follow company’s rule instead of MOM’s rule, they let me report to MOM.

Reported to MOM through Employment Act Violation, currently trapped because notice period is more than 2 months even though I am a low level employee.

Wondering if I should just pay in lieu of notice since it’s so toxic? In the meantime, is there anything else I can do other than reporting to MOM?

Help.

Netizens’ comments

  • Resignation doesn’t need to be acknowledged or accepted. It’s just recommended as proof of when you gave notice. Just follow up by email to record that you submitted notice.
  • No company has the right to decline, reject, or ignore your resignation. Even if they refuse to look at the letter, don’t open your email, it’s submitted and you can leave right at the end of your notice period.
It’s a one-person decision. You want out, you get to be out.
  • Bruh there is nothing unfair. That’s nonsense from the company. You just note down the date you sent them the resignation, calculate the last day, then just don’t turn up afterwards.

Here is what they said

Singapore Customs arrests two men and seizes more than 4,500 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes

Singapore Customs arrested two male Singaporeans, aged 25 and 37, and seized more than 4,500 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes in an operation on 27 April 2022.

Case information

During the operation conducted at a carpark in the vicinity of Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, Singapore Customs officers observed two men transferring boxes from a Singapore-registered truck to a Singapore-registered car. Suspecting that the two men were involved in duty-unpaid cigarette activities, officers moved in to conduct checks on the two men. One of the men attempted to flee the scene but was eventually stopped by officers. Both men were arrested. Officers uncovered 4,540 cartons of duty-unpaid
cigarettes in the two vehicles.

A packet of unknown white powder substance suspected to contain controlled drugs was also found in the truck. The matter was referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.

The duty-unpaid cigarettes and the two vehicles were seized, and the total duty and Goods and Services tax (GST) evaded amounted to about $515,810 and $39,410 respectively. Investigations are ongoing.

Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded and/or jailed for up to six years. Vehicles used in the commission of such offences are liable to be forfeited.

WOMAN DOESN’T WANT TO WORK, WANTS TO BE A HAPPY HOUSEWIFE

0

I just wanna be a housewife and have kids and live a happy life

Everyone keeps asking me what I wanna do when I finish college and I could never speak my mind because they keep telling stuff like they wanna get a job or start a business.

I don’t wanna work, I just want to have a good home, enjoy my life with my boyfriend, have kids and take care of them.

It’s hard for me to even tell this to anyone because all everyone wants is to be independent while I feel like I’m a bit old fashioned.

for everyone asking me to have a backup plan, I’m studying at the moment and if I ever need to work for my family then I’ll always have a backup because of that degree.

Netizens’ comments

If you’re happy that’s all that should matter

My only advice would be to have a contingency plan. Domestic life can get uprooted and go wrong in so many ways

So know what your backup plan is. Other then that live your life however you want to

PETITION TO REMOVE AMBER HEARD FROM AQUAMAN 2, HITS 2.3M SIGNATURES

A change.org petition that was started in December 2019 to remove Amber Heard from the upcoming Aquaman 2 movie due to revelations of her domestic violence against Johnny Depp, has seen renewed support in the midst of Depp’s defamation lawsuit against her.

An audio recording was played in court last week, where Heard was heard admitting that she had hit Depp and challenging him to tell the world about it, implying that no one will believe him.

The petition has so far hit more than 2.3 million signatures, with a goal of 3 million signatures.

Here is what is stated on the petition

Amber Heard has been exposed by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic violence that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached. He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life.

Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for violence against a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of violence by Amber Heard.

Since Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually been violent to Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the antagonist. About the incident during which she shattered the bones in Johnny Depp’s finger and nearly severed it, causing Depp to require surgery to reattach and repair it, Heard presented a false story claiming that he cut off his finger himself, dipped it in paint and scrawled obscenities all over the walls.

Likewise, Heard recounts fabricated incidents of Johnny Depp hitting her in the face when she had, in fact, punched him. Though staff and neighbors in the building where she lived reported seeing no marks on her face in the hours and days after she says Johnny Depp hit her, yet she appeared in court six (6) days later with bruises on her face, asking for a temporary restraining order, which was granted. Photos of Heard from the very next day show her full face, without makeup, and not a single bruise.

As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestically violent woman, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard’s victims, and must not glamorize her.

Men are victims of domestic violence, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent her from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.

Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.

NEA – WE ARE STILL DETECTING MOSQUITO BREEDING DESPITE WARNINGS

The National Environment Agency (NEA) posted onto their Facebook page saying that they are still detecting cases of profuse mosquito breeding during their checks despite warning about the sharp rise in dengue cases.

Here is what they said

Despite warning about the sharp rise in dengue cases and current serious dengue situation in Singapore, NEA is still detecting cases of profuse mosquito breeding during our checks. NEA will take strong enforcement action against such cases.

For households found with repeat mosquito breeding offences and multiple mosquito breeding habitats, offenders may face a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment, or both, for the first court conviction. Repeat offenders will be given heftier penalties or sent to court. We urge premises owners and occupiers to take urgent action to carry out mosquito prevention and control measures.

Let’s all take immediate action to reduce the mosquito vector population, by regularly practising the following Mozzie Wipeout ‘B-L-O-C-K’ steps, to target common mosquito breeding habitats:

o 𝗕reak up hardened soil

o 𝗟ift and empty flowerpot plates

o 𝗢verturn pails and wipe their rims

o 𝗖hange water in vases

o 𝗞eep roof gutters clear and place BTI insecticide inside
