PM LEE – THIS YEAR’S RAMADAN IS EXPECTED TO BE MORE LIVELY

0

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in a Facebook post on 2 April wishing the Muslim community a blessed and fulfilling Ramadan.

He said that for two years now, the Muslim community has had to adapt to Covid-19 restrictions, with the closure of mosques and the restricted number of congregants.

He said that with the recent easing of measures, Ramadan this year is expected to be more lively.

Here is what he said

Tomorrow, Muslims in Singapore will begin their fast.

For two years now, our Muslim community has had to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions – from the closure of mosques, to the restricted number of congregants in mosques.

With the recent easing of measures, this year’s Ramadan is expected to be more lively. Activities such as tarawih prayers will be possible. We can also enjoy the popular bazaar and Hari Raya lighting in Geylang Serai and Kampong Gelam again after two years of absence.

I am grateful for the community’s cooperation and forbearance. I would also like to express my appreciation to community leaders, asatizah and our mosques, for adhering to the measures to curb the spread of the virus. All your hard work and sacrifices have paid off. We are not yet at the finish line, though we are getting closer. Let us stay united. Together, we will overcome COVID-19 and rise stronger.

I wish you a blessed and fulfilling Ramadan! – LHL

WOMAN HATES BEING PREGNANT, SAYS “PEOPLE ONLY SEE THE SURFACE”

0

i hate being pregnant and i wish it would end.

i’m nearly 37 weeks. I’m so close, but it doesn’t feel like there’s an end in sight. people love to say ‘pregnancy is beautiful’. whoever said that is a liar.

no one understands what you’re going through. you’re looked at as hormonal, dramatic and emotional. no one understands that your body is no longer yours, you don’t feel like yourself, you feel left out, your body won’t ever be the same, you have to go through a life-altering event just to get it over with.

the anxiety of hoping your baby is okay. the restrictions of your movements. the list of food that you’re not allowed to eat. it is never ending.

i feel like people only see the surface. the baby shower, gender reveal and bump pictures. but it’s so much more than that.

i HATE being pregnant. i truly do. i’m excited for my baby, but i want to feel like myself again. it’s almost over for me, but i know i won’t be the same after this experience. if you feel this way, please know you’re not alone.

The best is when people say “sleep now while you can.” It’s damn near impossible to sleep well with this freeloader that’s smashing your bladder flat while simultaneously kicking you in your cervix.

15 ERRANT MOTORISTS CAUGHT FOR USING MOBILE, EXHAUST EMISSIONS, ETC

A multi-agency operation was conducted by the Singapore Police Force, the LTA, and NEA in the northern part of Singapore on 30 March.

15 motorists were caught for offences that included using mobile communication devices and exhaust emissions.

Here is what NEA said on Facebook

#DidYouKnow that one of the sources of air pollution in Singapore is vehicular emissions? Hence, to sustain a healthy and clean living environment, it’s important that we educate motorists to reduce vehicle exhaust and noise emissions.

As part of a multi-agency effort to remind motorists to adhere to Singapore’s environmental and road safety regulations, we carried out checks on motorists in the northern part of the island, on 30 Mar 2022 (Wed), together with Singapore Police Force and Land Transport Authority – We Keep Your World Moving. A total of 15 errant motorists, which included cars, motorcycles, and commercial goods vehicles were fined for various offences, which included exhaust emissions and using a mobile communication device.

Both local and foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore must meet Singapore’s exhaust and noise emission standards under the Environmental Protection and Management (Vehicular Emissions) Regulations. Non-compliant foreign vehicles may be denied entry at Singapore’s land checkpoints and/or face penalties by the relevant authorities.

NEA, SPF and LTA will continue to conduct regular and ad-hoc enforcement blitzes. Members of the public who wish to report errant motorists for offences under the three authorities may submit details such as the vehicle registration number, location, date and time of the incident, via any of the following platforms. Together, we can keep our environment clean and safe. #CleanAirForAll

CHINA CITY ORDERED PETS OF COVID PATIENTS TO BE KILLED, APOLOGISES

0

On 29 March, authorities in the Anci District of Langfang City had ordered the killing of all pets that belong to Covid-19 patients in the neighborhood.

They then backtracked on the order, with a staff member from the Langfang CDC saying that work had stopped at 5pm on the day.

The local government had backtracked on their decision because of feedback from residents, and they found the move to be inappropriate after looking into it.

They then apologised to the people for the “inconvenience caused”, in a notice that was put up by the local government onto social media site Weibo.

It is however, unclear how many, or if any, pets were put down.

Langfang City is located in the Hebei Province of China, and they have recorded hundred of new cases in recent weeks.

Cities such as Shanghai have seen their city being locked down following the emergence of thousands of new cases.

GUY HAS AN ONLINE GIRLFRIEND FOR MORE THAN 6 YEARS, NEVER MET HER

0

Had an online GF for 6 years and 2 months. We haven’t met once, and I’m dying inside.

As the title suggests, I have been in an overseas relationship with the same girl for just over 6 years and 2 months. Met online when we were 13 and we haven’t left each others side since.

I love her, she’s an amazing girl … And I’m just so done with the loneliness.

I’m just so sick of the loneliness guys, this stings, and not in a “romantic despair” kind of way either.

It’s not even the stinging that bothers me, it’s the knowing that this will “continue to sting” for a ton of time and there is nothing i can do until we finally meet and eventually sort out living arrangements and do the actual planning.

I don’t feel sorry for myself. In fact I realise that this whole post reads just like i am resentful towards my partner and like I am begging for sympathy. But I don’t want any of that. I don’t blame her for any of this.

In fact she probably has it even worse than me by virtue of being a very social girl without a legitimate boyfriend. I wouldn’t even blame her for having a casual FWB at this point. If she wasn’t such a sweetheart to me I would suspect already from some signs.

All this while couples our age are kissing and doing all the things that we are missing out on. Heck the last girl I hugged was my Step Mom and she hates me compared to her actual son.

This sucks. Period. And to the 3 or perhaps 4 bored souls that end up reading this, I sincerely apologise to you for wasting your time on this self-pitying summary of my non existent love life.

Trust me I don’t think I’m the hero of this story at all.

GIRL’S BF UNINVITED HER TO EVENT, TELLS HER TO “GET HER OWN FRIENDS”

0

My partner of 6 years uninvited me to an event and I feel heartbroken.

I’ll preface this by saying I love being social and going out, but sadly don’t have many friends who want to do this.

I’ve always asked my partner to join me for a night out – dinner, dancing, music, etc. but he always said it wasn’t his thing.

So recently he started a new job, in the field of his degree. It’s a female-dominated area so I always knew he’d make more female friends.

But since he graduated, he’s been going out more and more with these girls (and a few of their partners).

I’ve met the new friends a handful of times and we’ve hit it off, he said they love me.

One of the girls invited us to her party this weekend, and I RSVP’d saying I’d love to go. He then tells her I can’t go and tells me he doesn’t want me there because “it’s not my scene”.

He’s recently started drinking. He says he’ll be “fine” so he can blow off steam. But I feel so heartbroken that he doesn’t want me there, we even got into an argument because I said I’d love to go, and he told me to get my own friends.

It hurts because I was actually invited by the friend. We’ve been together for so long, talked about children and weddings. Feels like another failed relationship for me.

MOTHER STILL WANTS TO CONTROL MARRIED DAUGHTER LIKE A KID

0

I really had to think a long while before I could form my question because everything feels complicated. Before I go on, I must have a disclaimer that my mother is not a terrible mother, I have never felt like I wasn’t protected under her wings or that I couldn’t turn to her if I was having troubles in my life. She made many sacrifices to put the family ahead and I am grateful for that.

Now to the story, my mother is pretty opiniated about a lot of things and unfortunately most of the time I disagree with her due to personal reasons. It ranges from things like not using a microwave oven, putting your phone far away from your head when you sleep, not walking about with wet hair after shower to things that are considered ‘pantang’ or taboo like getting a tattoo, going home late at night (even though I freaking had to work till late and cab is expensive) and all the traditions that some of us are probably familiar with.

I would count it as a blessing that she does not stay with me as she’s based in Malaysia so after living with her rules for about 20 years I’ve shifted here and started to slowly do things that I like.

Thus, if I happen to go against her restrictions, she takes it personally because she thinks I did it solely to piss her off. Which is not true, it just so happens that she puts so many restrictions in life that its impossible to not hit something at some point or another.

There are many many examples over the years that usually ended up in us having an argument and her giving me the radio silence for a few months before talking to me again. Initially, I just let it slide even if I don’t concede to it, cause she’s entitled to her own opinion and I think we can still have a r/s with our differences. But she always grabs onto the issue and refuse to let go till she says her piece (I am arrogant, I think I know everything, why can’t I just listen for once) and even going to the extent of making me promise I “won’t do this again”.

After some time I’ve had enough, after I got married and got my own place, I started digging my foot down on certain things. She was furious that I got my first tattoo but it was my plan to eventually get a bigger one so when I did, I sent her a text to inform her that I like it and I hope she can respect that I can make my own decision. We were already on uneasy grounds because few months prior to me moving out, she threw a huge fuss about finding an auspicious date etc but it was during the freaking pandemic, my S/O and I were really looking forward to having our own space after months of delay on our house. I honestly couldn’t care less when I move in and I fail to see why we need to inconvenience our lives even more so in the current situation. So we moved in and that was the starting of this whole shaking ground we’re on. I had to tell her that no I might have own beliefs and it might not reflect the same as hers.

That did not go down well. I got off the phone feeling hurt cause she made it sound like I am a disappointment for her that I turned out like that.

But as you know after reading that chunk of text above, she called me one fine day and suddenly everything was fine again. Like I said, I love her and when she asked if she could crash in my place if she comes down to SG (I think I was going to be away that time) and offered to compensate me, I refused and told her to come and stay without worrying.

A few days later I remembered that I do not have a kettle at home and that I lack a flask to store hot water. The reason being that I use a hot water dispenser (it is my favourite appliance in the kitchen). Problem is, she was abhorrent against using that because according to her it causes health issue. She added a request that I stopped using it. Something in me snapped and I flat out told her no, I will not stop using it, I love that thing because it’s so convenient and if she has an issue she can bring her own kettle and flask.

You can probably guess what’s her reply. In short she basically said she won’t need to come and stay at my place anymore and I’m free to do whatever I want.

I know she didn’t mean it and she’s pissed at me again but I am so done with this hot and cold cycle. I am genuinely not trying to find an argument with her but I don’t know how else to deal with this. It is not like in western culture where you can just cut off contact, it’s just not acceptable in my family to do it even though everyone knew how difficult she can be.

Is this something many of you experience and are rebelling against? How can I tell her once and for all that if she’s going to throw another tantrum at me, this is the last time it will happen?

FAKE DBS SCAMMER TELLS MAN “HIS ACCOUNT GOING GET LOCKED”

On a Saturday noon, I was overseas and got a random call By +1 (850) 631-3130 using Whatsapp with a DBS LOGO thumbnail.

The man said He was calling from DBS because I haven’t updated my NRIC number to my bank account. He needs my NRIC number to validate my account, or it would be locked for 6 months.

I asked him if this can be done using the app. He answered no, claimed that the phone call is under record and kept urging me to provide My G-starting NRIC number.
I Gave HIM my NRIC number, he then Addressed me by full name and asked me to provide card info to him.

I tried to stall for time, while he is quite patient, I eventually gave him my card Info.
