24,080 NEW CASES REPORTED IN SPORE, 11 DEATHS


The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 24,080 new cases on 1 March 2022 with 11 fatalities.

Case details

Of the 24,080 new cases, 23,891 are local.

The remaining 189 are imported cases.

Of the cases today, 21,130 cases are low risk and detected via ART test while 2,950 cases are detected via PCR.

The 21,130 ART positive cases consist of 21,025 local cases and 105 imported cases, while the 2,950 PCR positive cases consist of 2,866 local cases and 84 imported cases.

The bulk majority of Singapore’s cases today are under the Protocol 2 status, which represents that they are well or assessed with mild conditions.

Patients in Hospitals

1,726 patients are currently in hospitals according to MOH’s latest infection statistics.

Out of those currently in hospitals, 242 patients require supplementary oxygen and 53 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Weekly infection growth rate

The weekly infection growth rate is now at 1.02, 0.07 lesser than what was reported on Monday when it was at 1.09.

This rate refers to the ratio of community cases of the past week as compared to the week before.

A rate above 1 indicates that weekly cases are on the rise.

Vaccination status

As of 1 March 2022, 95 percent of the population in Singapore eligible for vaccination have completed the full vaccination regime under the National Vaccination Programme.

68 percent of those who are eligible for vaccination have also received their booster jabs.

Total toll

11 fatalities reported today brings the death toll in Singapore to 1,030 and the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 748,504.

CEILING TILES FALLS FROM YISHUN WALKWAY & INJURING MOTHER

A netizen posted an incident on Facebook stating that his mother was injured after tiles from a walkway fell and hit his mother in Yishun. (March 1)

The man attached a photo of an email presumably before the incident stating that he has previously, sent feedback to the Town Council and the email wrote

“The contractor has fixed back the dislodged ceiling board”

Due to the nature of the injury the photo needed to be censored. The man has since tagged Nee Soon Town Council and Member of Parliament Louis Ng in the Facebook post.

Nee Soon Town Council got to really do something, residents staying at and near Blk 272 yishun street 22 have complained a few times regarding the ceiling being in an unsafe manner but all they reply was they’ve checked and all is good.

So good to the point my mum walk pass only the ceiling tiles drop on her head, buy 4D also not so zhun. Louis Ng please look into this serious matter as we do not have a concrete reply or explanation from town council.

TWO MEN CAUGHT ILLEGALLY DISPOSING OF WASHING MACHINE AT PRIVATE RESIDENCES

Two men were caught by the CCTV of a private residence dumping a washing machine alongside the bins beside the road.

A netizen pointed out that, This is typically done by disposal companies as they want to save cost as private residences typically requires the help of private companies to dispose of large items.

The disposal companies would need to places located at Sungei Kadut to dispose of the items or sometimes even sell them.

But there are companies out there who do not play by the rules.

It is unclear if they are residents of a nearby home or from a disposal company.

NETIZEN FINDS FRAUDULENT FOODPANDA TRANSACTIONS IN BANK STATEMENT

A netizen has shared a post on Facebook to raise awareness against alleged fraudulent transactions which happened to her on the FoodPanda food delivery platform.

In her post, she said that she was looking at her bank statement and was shocked to find many transactions with payments made to FoodPanda on her debit card even though she did not save the details of that particular debit card in her FoodPanda account.

Therefore, she wants to remind others to stay vigilant and aware of fraudulent transactions and urged others to check their bank statements frequently in case of such things happening.

She has also called the bank with regards to these fraudulent transactions and hopes that she will be able to get a refund on all the monies she had paid.

She ends of with saying that she had the same experience with Apple previously on another of her bank account and now it is FoodPanda’s turn.

“Here to share awareness.

I was shocked to see I’ve so many foodpanda transaction which were not done by me. Please do check your bank transaction regularly to monitor for any potential fraud transaction.

I don’t even maintain my debit card in my foodpanda account. 😮‍💨

Called the bank to block and investigate the matter. Hopefully I can be refunded for the four deducted transaction. 😵

Previously, it was APPLE. Now its Foodpanda. Argh. Both different bank accounts 🤧”

Many shared their experiences with such transactions and here is what was said:

  • I don’t even use Foodpanda or have the app in my phone, but the same thing happened to me. I called the bank, and they also advise to contact the merchant. So I reported to FP and they will investigate & refund money. So do check with FP too!
  • Same for me for GrabFood. It’s been more than half a year and Citi bank (credit card) has not resolved it for me even after numerous follow up calls to them. They said I took Grab taxi. I have never linked my card and I have my own car so my data was probably stolen. Told them to trace the account, nothing. Terrible!
  • It’s happen to me too. Every month Cold Storage will deduct my bank card without my acknowledge. Be careful guys.
  • Always use the cash option. Never ever link your credit/debit cards to these apps. Saves me a lot of headaches all these while. Maybe that would work for you too
  • Wah the guy everyday order same thing ah how come the prices all same one everyday

MOH – BOOSTED INDIVIDUALS HAVE LOWEST RATE OF COVID DEATHS

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has just shared data on getting a booster jab for protection against the virus in relation to the incidence of death caused by contracting the virus compared to those who are not fully vaccinated or those without a booster shot.

It also reiterates that the best protection that we as individuals can give to our families and loved ones amidst the current surge of cases is to take up the booster jab.

In an infographic provided by MOH, it shows the amount of people in percentage of different ages groups and their vaccinations statuses who succumbed to the virus from 1 May 2021 to 31 Jan 2022.

Less than 1 percent of people in the age group of 40 to 49 have passed away as they are not fully vaccinated.

For the age group of 50 to 59, the percentage is roughly at 1 percent for those being not fully vaccinated.

For the age group of 60 to 69, the percentage of those non-fully vaccinated who passed away stands at 4 percent, while those fully vaccinated with and without booster stands at less than 1percent.

For the age group of 70 to 79, the percentage of those non-fully vaccinated who passed away stands at 9 percent, while those fully vaccinated without booster stands at about 1 percent and those with booster stands at less than 1 percent.

For the age group of 80 plus, the percentage of those non-fully vaccinated who passed away stands at 20 percent, while those fully vaccinated without booster stands at about 3 percent and those with booster stands at about 1 percent.

In an official statement by World Taekwondo on its Facebook page, the sporting federation has announced that they will be taking the honorary Black belt which was awarded on November 2013 to Russian President, Vladimir Putin, away from him.

Condemns Russian invasion of Ukraine

In taking the honorary Black Belt away from Putin, the Sporting federation said on their Facebook that they strongly condemn the brutal attacks on Ukraine by Russia and the attack also goes against values preached by World Taekwondo which is:

 “Peace is More Precious than Triumph”

and also values of respect and tolerance.

Joins IOC’s ban of Russia and Belarus

World Taekwondo also added that they will stand in solidarity with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision not to display any official flags and play anthems of Russia and Belarus at any of World Taekwondo’s events.

In addition, World Taekwondo and European Taekwondo Union will not be recognising or organising any Taekwondo events in Russia and Belarus.

Sends regards to Ukrainians

In ending off their statement, World Taekwondo sends its regards to all Ukrainians and also hope that the war will end peacefully and immediately.

“(Feb. 28, 2022) – World Taekwondo strongly condemns the brutal attacks on innocent lives in Ukraine, which go against the World Taekwondo vision of “Peace is More Precious than Triumph” and the World Taekwondo values of respect and tolerance.

In this regard, World Taekwondo has decided to withdraw the honorary 9th dan black belt conferred to Mr. Vladimir Putin in November 2013.

In solidarity with the International Olympic Committee, no Russian or Belarusian national flags or anthems will be displayed or played at World Taekwondo events. World Taekwondo and the European Taekwondo Union will not organise or recognise Taekwondo events in Russia and Belarus.

World Taekwondo’s thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and we hope for a peaceful and immediate end to this war.”

SPORE AT UN: SMALL STATES MUST SEND CLEAR SIGNAL ABT RUSSIAN INVASION

Singapore’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), Mr Burhan Gafoor, while speaking in a rare UN General Assembly on a resolution that Russia should stop its invasion of Ukraine said that it is important for all nations, especially the smaller states to send a clear signal that international law must be upheld and nations should be united in peace.

In the speech presented by Gafoor, he brought up the points which had been said before by Singapore’s ministers, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Affairs Minister, Vivian Balakrishnan.

He mentioned that Singapore has always stood by the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries and also that Singapore has always supported the rule based multilateral system of the UN.

He further mentions that the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is unprovoked, is clearly violating the norms of international law and UN Charter.

Condemns Russian invasion of Ukraine

In condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Gafoor spoke and said that particularly for tinier countries like Singapore, it is an existential issue.

He then said that smaller countries like Singapore would suffer from the principle where by ‘might is right’ or the ‘stronger countries being able to do what they want and the weaker ones must suffer’.

He further mentions that Singapore cannot accept countries attacking each other without any forms of justification.

He also called for humanitarian aid to Ukraine and for those in need to be undisrupted and being able to get to the destination safely.

The situation in Ukraine which has taken away countless of lives and caused casualties is also viewed with great sadness and regret by Singapore.

In concluding his speech, Mr Gafoor urged members to support the resolution to demand the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Ukraine immediately.

With so many Property Agents in the Real Estate Market in Singapore right now, the competition to get customers and close sales have also increased.

As the competition increases, Real Estate agents will also have to improve in their marketing strategies to gain the attention of potential buyers.

A property agent on Tiktok going by the name of Leon Lim, who is also a participant in the 2005 edition of Project Superstar, has taken his marketing strategy to another level.

While most property agents usually do videos of Home Tours by going around the house and promoting them, Lim has taken it up a notch and decided to do a Music Video Home Tour, parodying Jay Chou’s hit song, ‘All the Way North’.

Property in Punggol

In the Tiktok video, Lim was seen trying to promote a 5 room HDB unit at Block 188, Punggol.

He starts by complimenting the block number as beautiful, as the number 188 in Chinese customs represents prosperity.

He then goes on to say that the unit is withing walking distance from Waterway Point.

In terms of sunlight, Lim said that the unit is West facing, which will spare the unit from the hot afternoon sun.

He then goes on to share about the features and amenities that the unit provides and subsequently leaves his contact number for interested buyers to contact him if they have any enquiries.

After leaving his contact number, he starts to list out all the amenities available near the unit, showcasing the convenience of the location of the unit.

He also says that it is located near major expressways and the bus and MRT interchange, making it convenient for commute to workplaces and town.

He then ends of by appealing to potential buyers not to miss out on the chance to land a unit that is beautiful and located in a good position.

WOMAN TO HUSBAND’S ALLEGED MISTRESS: “VIXEN, GO & DIE”

A 53 year old woman, Xu Wenying was slapped with a fine of $10,800 for trespassing a condo of another woman whom she had believed was the mistress of her husband.

She had also sprayed the woman’s shoes with paint and vandalised her door by scratching it.

Apart from committing the acts of vandalism, Xu had also wrote a note in Chinese and left it at the woman’s apartment saying:

“Vixen, steal other’s husband, go and die!”

Caught on CCTV footage

The incident happened on 25 Jan 2021.

Xu had suspected that 47 year old Wang Hemei as involved in an affair with her husband and had engaged the services of a private investigator to uncover the truth.

Xu managed to find out Wang’s address through the works of the private investigator and went to her condo in Sembawang to with the written note and a can of spray paint.

She then tailgated a resident into the condo through the side gate at about 3pm, even though visitors to the condo were required to register their particulars with the guardhouse.

Once she gained access to the condo, she went up to Wang’s unit to commit her acts of vandalism, spray painting shoes left outside the unit, the gate and also the door.

She also used her car keys to scratch the door.

Her actions were all recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the condo.

In total, her actions caused about $5,434 in damages.

Reported matter to Police

On returning home and upon discovery of what had been done to her unit, Wang reported the matter to the Police.

Xu was then caught and investigated by the Police and she did not want to pay for the damages that she had caused initially because she believed that whatever she had damaged were paid for by her husband.

However, she subsequently paid back the damages in full in July 2021.

Penalties

Xu could have gotten a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine for committing mischief.

For her act of criminal trespass, she could have gotten a jail term of up to three months and/or fined up to $1,500.

I was not the type of jealous girlfriend and I did not mind about my partner talking about their exes as I felt that I needed to know about my partner’s past so that I can understand them better.

The conversation about her was going on fine and itchy mouth me decided to ask about their intimate life in the past as they were together for a good three years before we got together and I thought that they must have had a lot of intimate times.

So he began to share with me the story of what they used to do and what kind of ‘services’ that she did for him which he liked it the best.

While engrossed in the conversation, my boyfriend was on the subject matter of how she loved to give him the ‘vixen’ look whenever she takes his lollipop which he finds it very seductive and pleasurable.

It was then where he blurted out a line which goes along the line where ‘I still cannot forget about it since she gave it to me last week’ and then hurriedly changed the last week to last year.

Sensing something was amiss, I began to probe further and eventually found out that they were still meeting each other after their break up last year just to have intimate relations with each other as they still missed the physical part of their relationship.

I now regret asking so much and getting too much information.”
