In 2013 I started being interested in bitcoin and because of the price rise I’ve made a lot of money, enough to retire and not have to worry about money again in my life. I’ve been selling most of it through the years (I have about 15% left ) and I’ve been buying real state and gold. The only person that knows about this is my dad and I made him promise me that he wouldn’t tell my mom about it, I love her but she can’t keep her mouth shut.

If you knew me, you would never say that I have money, I live in a 3 bedroom flat (and I split the instalment with my wife), I spend my holidays with my parents in their home, I love my job and I don’t want to stop working, my car is 10 years old and my watch is a 100+ dollars Seiko.

My dad has always told me that what I’m doing is not okay, he says that I can’t live a lie my whole life and that I’m making him keep my secret and he sometimes feels uncomfortable. I don’t think I’m living a lie, I live the life that I want and for that, I don’t need to show everybody how much money I have, that is nobody’s business. Also, I’m scared that people are going to start treating me differently.

Am I wrong for hiding my money? Sometimes I feel bad, but I love my life and I don’t want any changes. Also, after all this years of hiding it, it would be weird for them to know that I’ve had money all this time.

Just to clarify, I told my dad because he needed money and I wanted to help him, I know that he is in a bad position because he has to keep my secret but I thought that it was the best solution.

My wife and I have two kids, a 16yo son from a previous relationship of mine and a 14yo daughter. My son has been living with us full time since he was four.

To the current issue: My son has been suffering from cluster headaches for about one year now (they run in my family). He gets them every other month. Yesterday he got hit by one again while I was at work and my wife was home. When I got home in the afternoon I found my son was cleaning the storeroom (my wife loves to tidy and always buys too much garbage), or rather attempting to.

He was visibly in pain, pale, moving slowly, the typical watery eye etc. When I asked him what he was doing he told me my wife had told him to help her move those but I didn’t think he was in any condition to do so and sent him inside and to bed. I got inside and confronted my wife with it and she immediately got mad at me, saying it wasn’t a big deal for him and that she had him take one of his pills (they help but can only do so much).

So I reminded her that she lets our daughter stay home from school for two days every month and frees her of any chores when she’s on her period and is essentially being a biased hypocrite. We argued for a while and she said I’m „undermining her authority“ but I insisted on leaving our son alone for the day and tidy her garbage myself (Which I’d done anyway had she just waited for me).

Just to clarify: I don’t interfere with my wife keeping our daughter home when she’s not well, if she says that’s necessary then it’s fine with me. I’m also not asking what is worse but I don’t think it was okay of her to make our son do this when he was in a lot of pain and basically grimacing with every movement. She also knows that he’s not that great at standing up for himself.

She is taking advantage right?

AMSTERDAM APPLE STORE HELD HOSTAGE WITH BOMB, DEMANDS FOR US$230 MILLION

According to foreign media reports, local time on Tuesday, an Apple retail store in the centre of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, took hostages and threatens to bomb the store and demands 200 million euros in cryptocurrency. The man took many hostages in the store and confronted the police for 5 hours. The local police said the gunman had been subdued and the hostages had been rescued.

“We are investigating the possible motives of the hostage-taker and the explosives he carried on his body,” police said in a statement. “Investigation has shown that the explosives were not ready to detonate.”

Videos and pictures posted by multiple Twitter accounts showed a large crowd of police outside the Apple retail store in Amsterdam’s Leidseplein, with one man pointing a gun at another man inside the store.

The man was strapped with bombs on his body and equipped with a rifle and pistol. Police shouted through loudspeakers to those in the store, while other armed officers were stationed outside the store, clearing and sealing off a nearby plaza and reminding people in the area to stay indoors.

A hostage requested for water but took the opportunity to escape, the suspect chased after him and was hit by a Police car.

The Amsterdam Police Service later issued a statement saying that during the confrontation, dozens of people managed to leave the building and all hostages had been rescued safely. Separately, police said they were collecting photos of the scene circulating on social media for their investigation.

The motive for the incident is unclear, according to foreign media, it is likely to be an attempted armed robbery.

20,312 NEW CASES IN SINGAPORE, 7 FATALITIES

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 20,312 new cases on 23rd February 2022 with 7 fatalities.

20,152 are local and 160 are imported cases.

The weekly growth rate is 1.49 (Yesterday 1.57)

Case details

Of the 20,312 new cases, 17,322 cases are tested positive through ART of which 17,267 are local and 55 are imported.

2,990 cases were confirmed after testing with PCR with 2,885 local cases and 105 imported cases.

MOH reported 7 death cases bringing to death toll to 963.

Other data:

There are currently 1,587 patients in the hospital with 200 of them requiring oxygen and 46 are in the ICU.

94% of Singapore’s population has completed the vaccination program.

66% of Singapore’s population has received booster shots.

Statistics

In total Singapore has recorded 642,605 COVID-19 cases from the start of the coronavirus.

The death toll is 963.

In the last 28 days, there were 309,325 amount of cases with 99.7% of them with no or mild symptoms, 0.2% required oxygen supplementation, 0.04% is in the ICU, 0.03% died.

WORKERS’ PARTY MP JAMUS LIM REMEMBERS DAD ON DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Member of Parliament (MP) of the Workers’ Party (WP), Jamus Lim, shared a tribute to his Dad on what seems to be the 23rd death anniversary of his father today (23 Feb).

Lim posted the tribute on his Facebook page, detailing that the passing of his Dad at just the age of 49 23 years ago had hit his closely knitted family very hard.

This was especially so for his mother as his Dad was his mum’s first boyfriend and she now has to shoulder the responsibilities be it physically or financially for Lim and his sister.

He also shares that going through all these helped him in his work as an MP to empathise with his constituents’ needs and also to support them in terms of listening to them and helping them with their appeals to government agencies.

Lim also shared that for his family, his Dad’s passing taught them to treasure each other and the time they have all left on earth and also to ensure that they have left good virtues and values behind when their time has come.

“23 years ago on this date, Dad left us. It was sudden, and he was only 49 at the time. His passing was difficult for our close-knit family, and while I’ve also met others who lost their parents at a young age, my sister and I felt unprepared to face life without a father. It was also especially difficult for Mom, for whom Dad was her first boyfriend (yes, virtually unimaginable these days), and who now had to shoulder the financial and emotional burden of taking care of two children. Thankfully, Dad had insured against such an eventuality, and so the struggle—hard as it was—was nevertheless eased somewhat.

Over the course of my work as a representative of #SengkangGRC, I’ve met other households who have experienced such unexpected grief. I do my level best to empathize, to listen to their sorrow, and to offer support with any appeals or applications to government agencies that they may have. It is my job to do so, of course, but I also see it as an enormous privilege to be able to be there for others during their time of need.

For our family, we always take this time of the year to remind ourselves of not just Dad’s legacy, but also of what ultimately matters: to treasure each other, and the time we still have left to walk on this good earth, and the values and virtues that we leave behind.

Wife of Singapore’s Prime Minister, Ho Ching, is appealing to employers who are making their employees who test positive get a Medical Certificate (MC) to prove that they are unwell for work due to contracting the virus.

She calls employers to have trust in their employees and not make them go and see a doctor just for their own ‘bureaucratic and administrative’ requirements.

She also asks them not to ask employees to go and see a doctor just because they are positive as a visit to the doctor is another chance for the virus to transmit.

She also lays out three things which employers or HR personnel and supervisors can do instead.

Here is what she said

“Calling all employers, HR managers and staff, work supervisors:

Do not ask our staff to go get an MC after testing ART+, just so that we have a proper documentary record for our own bureaucratic and administrative requirements.

These are extraordinary times, and sending an ART+ staff to a GP clinic to get an MC is just causing one more point of infection transmission.

Employers, HR personnel and work supervisors have 3 options:

First is to work on an honor system, and trust our employees to do their DIY ART at home, mark their test cartridge with name, date and time, and send a photo of their results. This can serve as an HR record in lieu of an MC.

Second is to have our own supervised DIY test – set up a booth for a supervisor, to witness the staff doing the test and observe the results for ourselves including taking a photo – or we could do this over zoom, WhatsApp or whatever suitable remote video method.

Third is to send the employee to a quick test centre to to a supervised self test.
Do NOT ask the employees to go to GPs, polyclinics or the hospital A&Es for additional tests – this brings more infectious nodes into places with many other potentially highly vulnerable people seeking serious medical attention.

That is unconscionable and irresponsible to put a known ART+ employee into a setting where there are lots of patients, who are sick, frail, and more vulnerable than the general population bcos their immune system is likely to be down when they are sick, old or frail and needing medical attention.“

MAN ISSUED ARREST WARRANT FOR ASSAULT & TRYING TO LEAVE SPORE

On Wednesday (23 Feb) a warrant of arrest was issued to a 29 year old man as he had failed to appear in court for a hearing for his offence of punching a SMRT staff back in 2018.

He had said that he was sick but could not produce a Medical Certificate (MC), resulting in his bail being revoked and the arrest warrant issued.

He had earlier last year admitted his guilt to voluntarily causing hurt and improper usage of the Singapore passport.

Incident at Dhoby Ghaut MRT

On 17 Sep 2018, He was spotted by an SMRT station manager at Dhoby Ghaut MRT tailgating another passenger into the station.

His Ez-link card had only 2 cents stored inside at that time and the manager followed to ask him to show his ez-link card for verification that he had paid the fees.

He refused to comply and the manager had asked him to follow him to the passenger service centre which he refused again.

The manager then grabbed his backpack to stop him from escaping while they engaged in a scuffle.

He was then taken to the passenger service centre with the help of transit security officers and this was where he threw a punch to the back of the manager’s head.

As a result, the manager was given a day of medical leave when he visited the doctor who found that his ear was reddish-pink and his elbowed had some superficial scratches.

Attempted to leave Singapore with brother’s passport

On 20 Sept 2019, He took his brother’s passport from a locker at his home which was left unlocked.

He booked a private hire car to City Square Mall in JB using his brother’s account.

It was unknown why he decided to go to Malaysia at that time.

He was met by a Malaysian driver who fetched him to clear the customs at Woodlands Checkpoint.

He gave his brother’s passport to the ICA officer when asked for it which prompted the officer to ask if he had lost weight from National Service given that the face on the passport did not match his face.

He nodded in agreement with the officer’s question.

He also used his brother’s identity card when asked for other forms of identification.

The officer then asked him to put his fingerprints on a scanner which detected again the difference between his fingerprints and his brother’s.

He was then led to an office for further verifications on his identity.

Changed brother’s contact to ‘daddy’

He changed the contact of his brother on his phone to ‘daddy’, and messaged him over Whatsapp to answer questions which ICA officers have asked about his travel history.

He changed the name of his brother’s contact to ‘daddy’ in order to avoid suspicions as he realised that it would be dumb for him to be speaking to his brother as he was pretending to be him.

He was subsequently asked to scan his fingerprints on ICA’s mobile automated verification and identification system where his true identity was revealed.

Penalties

If he is convicted of improper usage of a Singapore Passport, he could receive up to 10 years jail and/or fined up to $10,000.

If he is convicted of voluntarily causing hurt, he could receive up to two years jail and/or fined up to $5,000.

MORE THAN 5KG OF CANNABIS FOUND IN SENGKANG, THREE ARRESTED

Three Singaporean men aged between 25 to 62 were arrested on Monday evening by officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for their alleged involvement in drug related activities.

More than 5kg of Cannabis were found in a residential unit in Sengkang.

Arrested in two separate locations

The first man, aged 60, was arrested around Fernvale Link and 93 grammes of Cannabis was found on him.

He was then brought to a stationary vehicle in the vicinity where a further 42 grammes of Cannabis and 11 grams of Ice were found.

A residential unit in Fernvale Link was subsequently raided which led to the arrest of the other two men, aged 25 and 62 respectively.

In the unit, officers found multiple packets of Cannabis amounting to 5,132 grammes.

The 25 year old man was the brought by officers to his home in Whampoa Drive where a further 0.5 grammes of Cannabis was found.

Total street value of drugs

In all, the total weight and street value of all the drugs seized by CNB were 5,268g of cannabis and 11g of Ice which amounted to about $160,000 in resale value.

Investigations on the three men are currently in progress and the penalties that the three men could face more trafficking more than 500 grammes of Cannabis is the compulsory death penalty.

Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) has warned the public today (23 Feb) that there is a fake website which is imitating the hospital’s website and they have already filed a report with the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

Announced it on Facebook

In a Facebook post by the hospital, they said:

“It has come to our attention that there was a website mimicking the official Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) website. We have made a police report and contacted the domain host to initiate a takedown of the website. All Singapore internet service providers have blocked access to the website and our checks confirm that the website is no longer accessible.

Our official KTPH website URL is www.ktph.com.sg. We wish to advise members of public to be cautious of websites that use other web addresses to mimic the official KTPH website. Stay vigilant and avoid clicking on links from external sources. Always practise discretion when sharing sensitive personal details online. Thank you.”

No links provided of fake website

KTPH did not provided the link of the fake website imitating them and advised members of the public to be wary of sites which use other web URL addresses to imitate their actual site.

They also urged all to remain vigilant and not to click on links provided by external sources and also not to share personal details online with unknown sources without first checking on the authenticity of the sources.

Local influencer, 26 year old Chrysan Lee, from Youtube Channel Wah!Banana, has recently called out netizens online who had made comments on the size of her bosoms and hopes that calling them out will teach them a lesson that whatever that they say online have consequences.

She first uploaded a reel on her Tiktok account with the intention of showing off a particular dress that she adores.

However, the comments on her reel were filled with disgusting people who made some mean jokes about the size of her bosoms.

Stood up for herself on Instagram

Probably enraged and have every right to be enraged about those comments which she had received, she posted on her Instagram to hit back at all those comments degrading her body.

She said:

“Shame. Do you see how ugly their personalities are?

I *expletive* love my small bosoms and my body, and I am proud of the way I was born and given.

What I wear, how I look and what I put out there – does not excuse their gross behavior in damaging comments & making themselves feel better at my or someone else’s expense.

I will continue to leave my TikTok comments open so that y’all can see it for yourself how low some men can be – and that’s nothing compared to what you see in inboxes like “I am going to *defile* you”

She also said that she will leave the comments section on her Tiktok still open so that people can go in and see what are the disgusting comments that she received.

Exposed some of the identities on her stories

Lee also called out those who have degraded her body with nasty comments and challenged them to post such comments without hiding behind an anonymous identity so that their friends and families can see for themselves who they really are.

She also said that those who did not post the derogatory comments but incited those who posted to do so are also as guilty as them.

However, she also said that there was someone who apologised to her after making those comments and she decided to spare him from the identity exposing.
