A mother of two posted on Facebook saying that KTV is not immoral and that it is a rite of passage for young men.

She said that it is n ot a dirty old man’s hobby, and that many are young men like army boys, university students etc.

She asked how else can single people get intimacy?

Here is her full post:

“I am an NUS alumna and a mother of two. Before more people start attacking the KTV culture and deeming it to be a “dirty old men’s hobby that can be easily eradicated”, I think there are some points for the public to understand:

The KTV is not a dirty old men’s hobby. Patrons come in all shapes and sizes. Many patrons are young – army boys “walking this rite of passage”, university students, young MNC executives, etc.

Patrons are not people who cannot get girls, some just feel that the commercial intimacy path is more honest and hassle-free (more on this in the next point). Patrons are not bad, sleazy people. Patrons can be your JC crush, your kind mentor, the family member you love regardless. Understanding this is important because it is an issue that must be approached with empathy. Seeing it as an unrelatable far-away dirty old men’s thing does not help.

KTV (alongside all other businesses in the commercial intimacy scene) is not immoral, because how else should single people get intimacy? Getting a girlfriend at all costs? Is it really ethical to start relationships for intimacy and putting all long-term considerations in the backseat? Will this lead to more heartbreaks and disillusionment? What about Tinder hook-ups? Are hook-ups moral then? Is the exchange really fair for both parties?

In a commercial transaction, every unfairness is balanced out with money. Given that intimacy is a basic need in the Maslow’s hierarchy, where should guys who cannot get hook-ups go?

If KTV (and all other forms of commercial intimacy) is close/relatable and not immoral, then what should we do? We should accept it. Think of it like having a gay child: the only way is to acknowledge his orientation and accept him. If you do not, he will simply keep inside his closet, and you will lose touch with him and miss opportunities to ensure his safety. There will only be less transparency, more secrets and lying and betrayal.

When society fully accepts commercial intimacy, regulations and protocols to protect all parties can be implemented, and all outbreaks (of COVID-19, of STIs, of violence) can be prevented.

Society will always be safer with authority-managed hostesses than with hostesses hiding underground. As a mother, I will not call for the closure of hostess KTVs and instead call for hostess KTVs to be government-managed: with robust health checks and identity tracking (albeit keeping all data confidential).

Blaming and self-denial will not stop COVID-19, only openness and acceptance can.”

A netizen shared a bad experience shopping at Tat Eng Industries Pte Ltd Ang Mo Kio Brand.

He said that the service was unprofessional and the service from the employees are bad.

But at the same time, the netizen brought a wrong product which is not covered under the lemon law. Lemon law only covers a claim for a defective product sold to him or her within 6 months of purchase

A netizen shared his negative experience with a pet shop, he said that the pet was sold to him as a “purebred” but DNA evidence showed otherwise and the pet is sick.

Here is the story:

DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR CATS FROM HERE (Designer Bengal Singapore) My family purchased a claimed pure bred ragdoll (seller was unable to provide pedigree certification), Nava, from Designer Bengal in early 2021. After a few months, we have discovered several issues surrounding Nava.

Do note that we love Nava and DO NOT want to give her up. She has already integrated into our family and is our precious pet that we love.

CONCERNS:

1. She is NOT A PURE BRED ragdoll (DNA test indicates she’s only 15% ragdoll) despite the seller claiming she is pure bred and charging us a premium price for her.

2. She has FELINE CORONAVIRUS and suspected FIP (cats with FIP have a life span of up to a year) that she most likely got from her Designer Bengal since we haven’t allowed her to mix with other cats yet.

3. She has many SKIN ISSUES and has sent her to the vet countless times in the past few months of having her. She had one bald patch on her leg when we bought her, but only noticed a few days later. Vet suspects that her skin problems are due to low immunity from her feline coronavirus.

4. Designer Bengal BULLIED us into taking down a negative Google review that we posted a few months back. He said that our review is defamatory statement which is punishable by law. Since we did not have solid evidence back then (DNA and medical test results), we removed the review.

5. My parent recently posted a review with the same concerns. Without discussing with them, Designer Bengal insensitively transferred her the same amount we paid for Nava and asked to return Nava to him. As stated above, we DO NOT want to give up Nava as we love her. We have already formed a bond with her and these concerns that we face cannot be so easily dismissed by ‘refund and return’. In addition, we do not believe that Designer Bengal is the best place for Nava since it’s most likely the place where she contracted feline coronavirus.

The infamous Briton Benjamin Glynn has returned for his trial and its just gets “juicer”.

It was heard in court that a man of is an acquaintance of Glynn known as Abdul Rashid said that he did not need a licence to practice law and is here to defend his “sovereign compatriot” he even went as far as saying that Glynn is “”ambassador-at-large and advocate of Kingdom Filipina Hacienda”

Rashid is also his bailor, the judge told Abdul Rashid to return to his seat.

Glynn started to talking loudly in court and said:

“My mind is crystal clear. I’m wide aware. I’m enlightened. Just because I refuse to be a slave, you accuse me of being a lunatic.”

He added that he was being kept against is him, probably referring to how is bail got revoked and also demanded the return of his passport.

The judge ordered for him to be remanded in IMH, while he was being escorted out he said

“Good luck getting into the book of life, Mr Koh(Deputy Public Prosecutor). How can you say Singapore is a safe country. Police who hunt me down like a pack of wild animals. This is not justice. This is disgusting.”

The trial will continue after IMH completes his psychiatric assesement.
