POLICE NSMAN SWUNG E-SCOOTER AT LTA OFFICER, JAILED & FINED

0

24 year old David Chan Wei Peng was given seven days of jail and fined $1,400 on Friday (28 Jan) for swinging his e-scooter at a LTA enforcement officer on 4 March 2021.

He was caught by the LTA officer for illegally riding his e-scooter on the footpath while he was on the way to Yishun North Neighbourhood Police Centre for his reservist.

He was a Police NSMan.

He will start his sentence after Chinese New Year, on 7 February 2022.

Three charges were brought against him and they include a count of using criminal force against a public servant and two charges which is under the Active Mobility Act of 2017.

What happened

Chan was riding his e-scooter which was not UL-2272 certified at the footpath along Gambas Avenue, Sembawang at 8:30am in the morning.

E-scooters which are classified under Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) were already banned from the footpath since 3 April 2020.

Three LTA officers were inside an unmarked van when they spotted Chan and they parked the vehicle at the side of the road to take enforcement action against him.

One of the officers, Yeo Ying Xuan went to Chan and showed him his LTA pass and demanded him to stop riding.

Chan attempted to U-turn in a bid to flee, but Yeo grabbed on to his backpack resulting in a little fight which caused Yeo to suffer an abrasion on his left arm.

Yeo’s colleagues then came down from the van to assist him to handle Chan, but Chan swung his e-scooter at Yeo’s direction.

He then ran away as the other officer was approaching, dropping his e-scooter on the floor.

They finally managed to restrain him across the road after a short chase.

Unrepresented in court

A jail term was sought by the prosecutor who noted that even though the e-scooter did not hit the officer, the risk of potential harm was there.

Chan was not represented in court and pleaded for only a fine with no jail term.

Penalties

He could have been jailed up to four years and/or fined for using criminal force against a public servant.

Up to three months jail term and/or a fine of up to $5,000 could have been given to him for riding a PMD which is not UL-2272 certified as it is a safety regulation that reduces the risk of the PMD catching fire.

Up to three months jail term and/or a fine of up to $1,000 could have been given to him for failing to comply with an enforcement officer in uniform orders to stop.

VICTIM LOST $8,000 IN 48 HOURS BY JOB SCAM VIA TELEGRAM

0

I was first contacted by someone called Michelle chia working for “recruit express” from Telegram asking if I wanted a freelance job.

I agreed and gave my contact details and after which, a woman call elise lee yee wen on WhatsApp explaining that she’s from Moni and offering me a marketing freelance job where I increase the view rate of products just simply by clicking.

I can earn $90/day and the task takes about 2 hours to complete. I was told to register as an agent and sign up on the website moni-c.

I hop on the opportunity thinking there’s nothing to lose yet and she also instructs me to help her complete her account on a daily basis which then I can receive 20% dividends on her account. at the start, i have to complete 30 orders which is to click 30 times and then I can withdraw the money on the same day.

The top-up process is to pay now the amount of money to recharge on the website to various merchants and send screenshots to moni customer service via WhatsApp. In the course of working for 3 days, I have transferred to about 4 different people namely goh jianhui, jovan wong, jiaming chee and kasthuri malik.

I JOINED ON THE 19 JAN 2022 AND WORK TILL 21 JAN 2022. on the 2nd day, she asks me to top up and be a bronze member so that I can earn more and do more times on one single day. so I did and that is when I start to panic because I have to up close to $3000 in one shot in order to complete just 1 order. at first, i did “earn” about $300+ for the first two days which is on the 3rd when I was required to top up so much money that i do not have enough anymore and I try to plead with her to help me and she refused.

I knew then it was a scam and I lodged a police report the next day citing the incident. in total, i lost $8000 as I transfer from my uob and dbs account all via paynow.

LOCAL WRITES POST ABOUT WOMAN WHO TRIED TO STEAL HER HUSBAND

0

To the woman who tried to pursue my husband and failed.

I had many awful things that I wanted to say to you the moment I discovered your intentions with him. When I found out, saying a lame sorry indirectly doesn’t even encompass the magnitude of what I have caught you trying to do.

You have quite a reputation among our mutual friends so it wasn’t hard to learn about you and your shameless past. If the friends who know all 3 of us and no one is on your side what does it say about you?

Do I hate you for a while? Yes. But I learnt that my husband was also at fault. He should have stayed away from you like everyone else. If no one liked being around you, there must be a reason why. I start to know why you behaved the way you did with him because you are one super needy messed up person. But it doesn’t excuse you for disrespecting me and saying all those disgusting and shameless words to him in your desperate attempt to try to steal him.

I’m glad he didn’t fall for your manipulative attempts to try to dig info out of him. It showed me that he respected our union. You have managed to trap him to be unable to avoid helping you. And yet you are unable to make him fall for you. No matter how pathetic and needy you behaved, not once did he let you into our world. I think you’re a little nutty to start behaving towards him as though you are part of my family and calling yourself ‘our kid’ when you are as old as me. I’m glad not once did he acknowledge your nutty sentences.

Our friends told me you aren’t worth my time. Not even worth a slap from me. I fully agree. I also didn’t want to give you the satisfaction of hearing anything from me. But here I am, writing to get it off my chest once and for all. I guess gossip spreads fast. No wonder you’ve been hiding since.

I’m glad you have no intention to marry because women like you, shouldn’t. One of my friends told me she thought it was odd that you started to message her husband over something trivial. Well, now we all know what you’re up to. Covid must have made you more desperate for attention. Go find a new hobby!

ELDERLY MAN LIVING ALONE IN AN EMPTY HOUSE WITH AN EMPTY FRIDGE

0

Singaporean activist Gilbert Goh shared a story about an elderly man that he met during an outreach programme to help the less fortunate, and shed light on his living conditions.

Here is the story:

This elderly uncle has an almost empty home derived of anything except a fridge with nothing inside, a small fan without a cover and a pillow for his rest.

His clothes are neatly folded up on a dresser table and there is no TV, washing machine, radio, bed or cooking stove. A bicycle parked inside seems to be his only valuable possession.

It is however very clean and neat without any untidy clutter which usually accompanies most rental units we visited. He is also healthy-looking and simple in the way he lives.

When we first enter the house, he immediately brought us to the closed window which has some water droplets trickling down from the upstairs unit. He says that he has to close the window as the water will splash in together with the wind.

He next shows us a malfunctioning circuit board which troubles him a lot as he couldn’t use the two wall plugs if he switches in the light. He could only use the plugs if the lights are switched off.

We asked him what are his immediate needs after passing him our bento meal and a $50 angbao.

He pointed at the row of neatly-folded clothes and trousers and wanted a clothes rack so he can hang them up properly. He doesn’t want the proper cupboard or any storage cabinet.

Our volunteers have ordered a clothes rack and stand fan for him last night and hopefully, the items will arrive next week so he can live better.

We left him after a 15-minute visit knowing that we have at least met one of his immediate needs.

Do something good for Singapore – a charity movement to alleviate the hardships of displaced elderly Singaporeans.

ABOUT 1,000 GP CLINICS TO REMAIN OPEN DURING THE CNY PERIOD

0

The Ministry of Health said yesterday (29 January) that about 988 General Practitioner (GP) clinics will be open during the Chinese New Year holiday period, from 31 January to 2 February.

Of the 988 GP clinics that will be remaining open, 523 are Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs), and 324 of these clinics are able to provide Covid-19 swabs.

MOH is encouraging people to visit their GP or a 24-hour clinic for minor conditions if they feel unwell during the festive period.

Those who develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection are advised to visit a PHPC if they have symptoms such as cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc.

11 combined test centers across Singapore will also be continuing their operations and taking in patients who have been referred by the doctor for a swab.

Make appointment

MOH is advising people to call the clinic beforehand to confirm the availability and service timings and make an appointment before heading down, especially for Covid-19 testing and the vaccinations.

The public should also only seek treatment at a hospital’s A&E for serious or life-threatening emergencies.

MOH also urged people to continue exercising social responsibility and comply with the existing safe management measures.

GUY WENT TO JAPAN AND TOLD FRIEND IN BROKEN JAPANESE “PLS RAPE ME”

0

A netizen shared how he went to Japan for an exchange and told his roommate in broken Japanese to wake him up in the morning, but he mispronounced the phrase and it meant something else entirely.

Here is the story:

“Today, my Japanese friend and I got to the topic of embarrassing boo-boos made by non-native speakers of a language, and we couldn’t decide which of us did worse.

When I went to Japan for exchange a few years back, I lived in the uni hostel and got to know a native guy really well.

One night when I was studying for an exam, I wanted to tell the guy to do me a favour and wake me up tmr if I oversleep.

The expression is something like 起してくれ (o-KO-shi-te-ku-re), but brain-dead-from-mugging-too-much me went 犯してくれ (o-KA-shi-te-ku-re), which unfortunately meant “please do me a favour and r*pe me”.

On the other hand, when she came to Singapore many years ago to study, apparently she really struggled with English pronunciation, especially sounds that don’t have equivalents in Japanese.

So one time during Social Studies class, she was shocked to find out that we have elections (because someone told her our current PM is the son of our first PM, so she thought we were a dynastic country).

So that poor girl raised her hand and asked the male teacher, “How often do you have erections?”

Hers is definitely worse right?”

DRIVERS DASHED THROUGH ZEBRA CROSSING IGNORING PEDESTRIAN

A video is currently circulating after a bunch of drivers was seen ignoring traffic rules.

All the drivers fail to stop at the stop line and fail to give way to pedestrians who are crossing the street. If this is TP, instant failure.

A woman and child were seen waiting for the vehicles to stop but none of the vehicles bothered to stop and was moving at a high speed.

The incident happened along Pipit Road on 28/1/22, 1708hrs.

Seems like the drivers on that road are all rushing to go home to lay an egg or to ‘bomb’ the toilet.

Penalties:

The penalty for failing to give way to pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing is a $150 fine and 6 demerit points.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Take out phone, turn on camera, face their direction, they wil stop
  • This is why our TP and LTA are overloaded with paperwork and all rely on Technology CCTV monitoring. Also believed due to reducing manpower expenses
  • Need to suggest all zebra crossings change to traffic lights… Probably thats help. Bcos many S’porean no responsible while driving hope gov will do something…
  • Standing beside at times is misleading to think pple just stand there waiting and not cross… usually I try waving and car can see usually slow down
  • vehicles did not even slowed down… drivers, riders and pedestrians must see surroundings… if me as pedestrian too, will be very cautious when vehicles drive pass like that. Be safe stay safe

GIRL LETS PUPPY SLEEP ON BED, IT NURSES ON HER ‘MANGOES’

0

A girl shared a story of how she brought home a pet puppy a few weeks back and decided to let the puppy sleep on her bed one night.

While that might seem like a normal thing any pet lovers will do, the girl mentioned that she messed up because she slept in her semi birthday suit that night due to the weather and the puppy then took her as its mother and tried to nurse on her ‘mangoes’.

Here is the story

“Not long ago i got a puppy, and as a first time puppy owner, I’m still testing the waters with what to do. I’ve been following a lot of trainers, and almost every single one talks about training your dog to stay off furniture.

I thought nope, I want to cuddle with my new 3 month old puppy. Lots of people do it, and I see no reason why I shouldn’t.

About an hour and a half ago I went to get ready for bed. I did my nightly routine, and then went to get my puppy from her pen. Now, I sleep pretty much in my birthday suit.

I always did as I think pjs are too hot and uncomfortable. I’ve been sleeping with her two times before this and both times she’s gone directly to sleep by my feet on top of my covers, or on the other side of my bed, also by the feet.

We fell asleep after a while and I think that my puppy took me as my mother and went directly to nurse itself on my ‘mangoes’, biting the ‘tip’ while nursing itself.

So now I’m laying here and I have to get up in four hours. There’s a band aid on the tips of my mangoes, and it feels like someone punched the shit out of my ‘mangoes’ and also cutting it a little bit.

I feel like a moron for not only being in my birthday suit while I sleep with a dog in my bed, but also for sleeping in my birthday suit with a young hungry nursing puppy in my bed.

I don’t know if she thought it looked like her mother’s, or what she thought, but my god, I am never making this mistake again.”
