JEALOUS PRC MAN ATTACKS WIFE’S LOVER WITH KNIFE BUT HURT BY CHOPPER

Yao, a 26 year old Chinese national was jailed for four months on Wednesday (6 May) after pleading to charges for criminal intimidation and for carrying an offensive weapon in a pubic place.

Yao’s wife, Cai Ming, who is also a Chinese nation had been having an affair with Zhou Zhijun for six months. She and Zhou were working in the same company. Yao had his suspicions on the affair and confront his wife about it. She confessed and agreed to set up a meeting with all parties as requested by Yao.

Zhou brought a chopper to the meeting as he was fearful of Yao. The chopper was hidden underneath his clothes. Yao brought a kitchen knife and two fruit knives to the meeting as well and the knives were hidden under his clothes in a similar manner.

All three parties met at the void deck of Block 103 Hougang Ave 1. Upon seeing Zhou, Yao took out his knife and charged towards him. While chasing Zhou, Yao fell and dropped his knife. Zhou then picked up the knife and attacked Yao together with the chopper that he had brought. Zhou slash and stabbed Yao. For this Zhou was sentenced to nine months and two weeks in prison.

6 MEN ARRESTED AFTER FIGHT AT LITTLE INDIA, SPAT AT POLICE

A total of 6 men were arrested, the youngest at 18-years-old and the older is at 48-years-old.

The incident occurred on Saturday 2nd May 2020 at 15 Upper Weld Road, Little India.

Police Alerted

The police were alerted at around 10.56 PM.

After the police arrive and tried to stop them, one of the men who is 21-years-old was not cooperative and spat at the Police.

He will be facing criminal charges to deter a public servant.

AGGRESSIVE MAN SLAPS, KICKS AND PUNCHES WOMAN REPEATEDLY AT WOODLANDS

A dispute over a divorce led a man into slapping, kicking and punching a woman at Block 623 Woodlands Drive 52 on May 2.

A passerby caught the whole incident on video. The incident lasted for more than 20 minutes as stated by a witness. The witness further stated that the man seemed agitated and threatened to hit her.

The man kicked her right in the stomach before slapping the woman’s face. Further to that, he started to rain punches on the woman. The witness called the police after witness the whole incident.

Police arrived at 12.05am on May 3 and separated the couple, though he woman turned down help from the police.

SINGAPOREAN MAN CHARGED FOR FOR BREACHING STAY HOME NOTICES 3 TIMES AT PAN PACIFIC SUITES

Another Singaporean man will be charged on the 06 May 2020 for violating the Stay Home Notice (SHN) order on 3 different occasions between 26 Mar to 9 Apr 2020. This can lead to heavy fines and jail term or both.

The 37 years-old man, Mr. Chng Tianxi was required to serve 14 days SHN after arriving back from Thailand on the 26 Mar 2020. He had served the SHN at Pan Pacific Service Suites Orchard.

However, during his notice period, he had left his hotel room three times and even inviting friends to his room 2 times.

Break down:

On 01 Apr 2020, Mr. Chng left his room around 1.25 am to bring a friend to his room from the basement carpark who left the hotel at about 5 am.

On 04 Apr 2020, the same friend visited again at 12.35 am and left the premises at 2 am.

On 06 Apr 2020, he once again meets up with 3 of his friends within the hotel premises and only returns to his room 10 mins later.

If convicted, he will be facing a fine up to $10000, jail term up to 6 months, or both.

POLICE WARN OF CRIMINAL JOB POSTING DURING CIRCUIT BREAKER

According to a Police media release, a number of jobs that are listed online turn out to be a fake and ends up getting the victim into legal trouble.

It is believed that syndicates are taking this opportunity to find and make use of people as money mules to launder money

Police state that the nature of the jobs would be asking the person to do perform transactions under their name as such as

  • Processing fund transfers by receiving money into their personal bank accounts and then transferring the money out through online banking or money transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram
  • Open bank accounts using their names for a business, or
  • Receive a donation into their personal bank accounts and assist to deposit the money into a crypto kiosk.

Don’t let a moment of greed destroy you

Please do not accept such job offers as it can turn out to be a serious offence.

They may be liable for money laundering under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act that carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, or a fine of up to S$500,000, or both.

SFA TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST “BIRD PECKING AT MEAT” YISHUN STALL

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it will be taking action against a Yishun food stall after a video of bird pecking on meat went viral.

SFA spokesman further stated that they were taking enforcement action for a lapses in hygiene detected.

“We have directed the operator to store all meat in the chiller or other covered receptacles to prevent contamination by pests and birds,” the spokesman said.

Lian Huat Roasted Delights responded in their Facebook page on May 4.

“As seen on the video, there were a total of 8 pieces of pork affected and we threw all of them away as it cannot be used anymore,” it said.

“SFA personnel [have come] down and we have [co-operated] with them regarding this situation as well as raising our stall’s [cleanliness] level.

“We have also put up netting on the grills to prevent such similar case[s] from happening again.

“Rest assured that we will maintain good hygiene and cleanliness in order to serve our customers better.”

FAKE COVID-19 TEST KIT BRANDED ILLEGAL BY HSA

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) have warned that the usage of home use illegal COVID-19 test kits could lead to the spread of the disease.

HSA is currently clamping down on such illegal kits and products. Till date, 1,600 warning letters have been issued to sellers. Further to that, more than 1,700 products listings have been taken down.

“Consumers should be aware that there are no HSA approved home-based test kits; no health supplements or herbal remedies, and no consumer devices approved for COVID-19 diagnosis or treatment,” said Associate Professor Chan Cheng Leng, group director of the health products regulation group, HSA.

“Not only do consumers waste money on these unproven remedies, they may put themselves and people around them at unnecessary risk due to the false sense of security.”

Sellers who falsely advertise products as preventing or treating COVID-19 face up to 12 months’ jail and a fine of up to S$20,000.

MAN JAILED 7 MONTHS FOR THREATENING TO BREAK SAFE DISTANCING OFFICER’S FACE

A man branded as “menace to society” by the prosecution was sentenced to seven months jail on May 6 for verbally abusing police and safe distancing officers.

Ravi Sinathamby Subramaniam pleaded guilty to verbally abusing police and threatening to break the faces of three safe distancing officers.

The offences were committed last month at Hao Mart at Blk 74, Whompoa Drive and at a coffee shop at Block 81, Whompoa Drive respectively.

The prosecution stated the the case “presents an important opportunity for this court to send a clear message that such conduct” against government officers who are aiding Singapore in the corona virus fight will not be condoned. The judge further took two other cases into consideration including threatening his brother with boiling boiling water and a chopper.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Timotheus Koh continued by stating that “Despite being imprisoned repeatedly, he doesn’t seem to be able to remain crime-free for long,” said Mr Koh, further adding that Ravi has even been caned before but “continues to be a menace to society”.

DESSERT SHOP TO OPERATE BEFORE TCM HALLS: “ICE CREAM BETTER THAN CHINESE MEDICATION”

Starting from 05 May 2020, The Circuit Breaker will be progressively eased as the number of community cases remains low. TCM halls and condo activities are the first to be allowed to resume their operations.

In regards to resuming the TCM halls operations, questions had been raised by Yishun GRC MP Lee Bee Wah to Minister of Health Mr. Gan Kim Yong in the parliament.

  1. Why are TCM halls not listed as part of essential services which are able to operate during the circuit breaker period as compared to the western medical centers?
  2. Why are TCM malls only allowed to operate needle acupuncture services but not resume the full operations of all services?
  3. Dessert shops are allowed to resume operations on 12 May 2020 but not for the rest of TCM halls without registered TCM practitioners. Is it because Chinese medicine does not taste better than ice cream?
  4. In what circumstances are TCM halls without registered TCM practitioners are allowed to resume operations?

40 YEAR OLD ARRESTED FOR HOUSEBREAKING AND THEFT AT SERANGOON

According to the Police media release, a 40-year-old man was arrested on the 2 May 2020 for his suspected involvement in a case of theft and housebreaking.

The incident occurred on the 1st of May 2020, the Police said they received a report at around 9.30 AM to a case of housebreaking along Serangoon North Avenue 1.

Items such as laptop, tablets and about $40 of cash were stolen from the property.

The Police were able to identify the man with the aid of Police CCTV footages and arrested him on the same day.

The man was charged in court on the 2nd of May 2020 under Section 458A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 (Housebreaking and theft). If he is found guilty, he will be facing up to 10 years of jail, a fine and the rotan.

The Police has also advised members of the public to not store large sums of cash at home and secure all entry points of your home.
