MAN ARRESTED AFTER POLICE SUSPECTED HIM OF DRINK DRIVING

A man was arrested for suspected drink driving after crashing his car into a tree along Braddell Road on Sep 27 at around 11.25pm. In a video of what happened that was widely circulated online, the car can first be seen travelling on the first lane of the three-lane road.

The driver then mounted the kerb and crashed into a tree at a relatively high speed. The car’s bonnet was severely damaged and debris was strewn across the road. The accident actually also involved another car as well as a taxi.

A police spokesman responded to queries over the accident:

“On Sep 27, 2017, at 11.25pm, police were alerted to an accident involving two cars and one taxi along Braddell Road towards Lornie Road. A male taxi driver was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. A male car driver was arrested for suspected drink driving. Police investigations are ongoing.”

M’SIAN UBER DRIVER ASK PASSENGER CAN I PAY YOU FOR TONIGHT!

A few days ago it was near my good friend (calling him S), he was from Sarawak and non-Muslims. After being subjected to sexual harassment from Uber driver, driving a red Bezza car. She was alone at that time and just wanted to go home from Subang’s shopping center. It happened in the middle of the night.
It’s a conversation dialogue in their car on a journey that I can remember. At the beginning of the conversation it was still normal for Uber drivers to open the topic.

Driver: What age?  want to know you.
S: 24year. (please correct the pronunciation of the name)
After a few minutes on the way, Uber’s driver was just as incorrect as they were on their way again.
Until then, the driver started asking the question instead.
Driver: Are you eating? If you’re hungry, I’ll bring you to go eat  now.
S:Nah its good not good, I want to go back.
Driver: You sit with whom. Can I come back with you?
S: No problem. I live with family. ABANG I am waiting for me now. (Just set the story to keep personal information)
Already wanting to get that destination, S deliberately ordered a drop-off driver far from the apartment because he did not want the driver to know where he lived. Alhamdulillah survived, it was most important.
After S got out of the car and walked back to the apartment, fortunately, there some guard over there.
S received in 4 misscalls from the driver, and noticed there was one message from him saying “I can pay you tonight?”, In a sense, he wants to pay S to ‘sleep’ with him.
What’s more, S reply message driver is included warning. Uber reports Uber and police reports that men like him were arrested, banned from driving and becoming drivers for the future. Initially the phone number was blocked by the driver, as the message could not be delivered. The next day S received another message from him begging and apologizing.

But rice has become porridge, because the report has already been made. He said he had been arrested.
Thanks to the authorities for their quick cooperation and action.
Keep in mind, maybe S is not the first victim of this driver, there may be more women out there who are victims of this driver but they can only be silent and stingy to do any action. Please send a message to your female acquaintances, no matter what, brother, sister, friend, bust to. Do not let them ride Uber / Grab / Taxi alone, especially midnight.

My order is for drivers out there.
DRIVERS, YOU HAVE ONE JOB; DRIVE YOUR PASSENGERS SAFELY TO THEIR DESTINATION. IF YOU DO NOT SEE JODOH, DATING APP HELPS. Messages to friends who drive Uber / Grab / Taxi, please do not make a rush, do not scratch, do not want to hunt. Be a professional driver, be a gentleman. Even the drivers are still 5 Stars, as long as the passengers feel comfortable traveling. Do not think women dare to fight.
. Thank you.
EDIT:
Short messaging for women if there is a situation forced to get uber sorang2, if possible sit back seat. If the driver is suspicious, make sure the phone is on, or inform your friends / contacts, driver info, train info. Do not provoke the driver later becomes more turbulent. Do not panic and be calm.
EDIT2:
Before any of you blame the victim wearing sexy or freehair. Remindering once again, S is non-Muslim, and for those who are out there they are considered ‘easy targets’.
Cause the attitude and mentality to blame the girl is the one who is out there wandering around. There are also rape cases in the rape and closing in. So please apply it, what we say is a reflection of our true self. Throw the habit of blaming the victim, throwing a sexist mentality.
And who did not ask that sexy? The answer is NO. He dressed CLOSE.
Please be wise, do not guess for assumptions and bad thoughts. We ourselves who condemn it are not necessarily perfect. I was not perfect, I closed my aurat too. The good man is the person who lowers his view.
“Say to the believing men, that they should guard their gaze and guard their private parts, that is the more sacred part of them: verily Allah is Aware of what they do”
-Surah An-Nur verse 30
EDIT 3:
At the request of the wife to this driver I received in the inbox appeal to delete the picture. Then the image has been deleted. Think of these lessons. I remove my cause because of the wife, not the husband. The driver gets guidance. Allah is Exalted and Forgiving. May we all be preserved under Him.
EDIT 4: (sis sis suh sis edit 😅)
Although I was surprised by my friend’s issue being harassed. But until now I still use the Uber / Grab service because I’m sure.

RICH WOMAN BARGAINS WITH STREET VENDORS BUT GIVE TIPS WHEN IN RESTAURANT! THE IRONY?

She asked him, “How much are you selling these for?”
The old seller replied to her, “Rs. 80 for one , Madam.”
She said to him, “I will take 6 for Rs. 400 or I will leave.”
The old seller replied, “Come take them at the price you want. May God bless us, and maybe this is a good beginning because I have not been able sell to anyone today.”
She took it and walked away with a feeling that she has won. She got into her fancy car and went to pick her friend, and invited her to a posh restaurant.

She and her friend sat down and ordered what they liked. They ate a little and left a lot of what they ordered.
Then she went to pay the bill. The bill was Rs.1,400/-. She gave him Rs. 1,500/- and said to the owner of the restaurant: “Keep the change.”This incident may seem quite normal to the owner of the restaurant. But it is very painful for the poor seller.
The bottom line is:Why do we always show that we have the power when we buy from the needy and the poor? And why are we generous with those who do not need our generosity?
Every time a poor child comes to me to sell something simple, I remember a tweet from the son of a rich man who said, “After every prayer my father used to buy simple goods from poor people at expensive prices, even though he did not need them.
Sometimes he used to pay more for them. I used to get concerned by this act and I asked him about it. Then my father told me: ‘It is a charity wrapped with dignity, my son.'”
Compare these two stories of social hypocrisy.

APPLE WOULD NOT FIX PHONES CAUSED BY IOS 11 UPDATE

Taken from Facebook post.

To all fellow iPhone and Apple fans in SG: Read this before you upgrade your current iPhone to iOS 11!

Does it make sense to be charged $448 for a replacement phone when an iOS software update broke your phone? Major disappointment in Apple‘s so called ‘incredible’ customer service..

I don’t normally post (at all) but as a loyal Apple fan, I’m really disappointed with Apple’s pretentious customer service. Here’s a precautionary story to people who may think buying an Apple product means you’re in good hands..

So as you know, the iOS 11 came out recently with a bunch of major updates, etc etc..

After I excitedly updated to iOS 11, my phone went blank after I keyed in my iCloud password. I waited 15 minutes and still nothing happened. So I called Apple Tech Support, spent an hour on the phone, and a half hour on the phone the next day but to no avail, so he asked me to have my phone checked out at the Apple Store.

I was getting worried, but still felt very safe so far.

At the official Apple Orchard Road Store (don’t even get me started on how disorganised the whole process at the Store was), the Apple Genius staff immediately told me, without checking, that I needed a total phone replacement, and I was shocked. After I questioned him further, he then proceeded to test my phone with his Macbook, and the test for current was positive, and asked if I wanted to try to change the screen on my phone for $200.

This started to make me even more uncomfortable because it was the software update that caused my screen to black out in the first place, but fine, since it’s only $200 and it could potentially save my phone and all the things in it, I agreed.

2 hours of aimlessly wandering around Orchard later waiting for good news, I was back at the apple store.

Turns out it wasn’t the screen’s fault and apple genius told me I need a total phone replacement, and couldn’t pinpoint what is wrong specifically – they just kept using vague terms like “it could be the logic board” and when I told them that my phone was functioning well (I could use bluetooth, wifi, make calls and everything!), they told me that my phone is older than a year old so it might be my fault due to constant dropping and what not instead of the update’s fault.

The worse part was, they said to me that they couldn’t be sure whether my phone went dead because of the iOS 11 update or these reasons like dropping.

(How is it any form of a good service recovery to insinuate that I’m lying?)

If you’ve been reading around, you might know also about all the battery burnings, phone breakdowns etc that have happened in the iOS 11 update. And if you’ve been reading around on Apple Tech Support, you would also have read that similar situations like mine happened to other Apple customers as well.

So I was very sure that my phone couldn’t have coincidentally broke down right after an update.

Then the real kicker came:

After acknowledging that it could be due to the update, instead of getting a new phone, I was told that I have to pay a whopping $448 as replacement cost.

Imagine that.

$448 for being one of the enthusiastic fans who couldn’t wait to try out iOS 11’s new features as soon as I could!

When I insisted that I felt unjustified having to pay $448 for a phone that died because of Apple’s update, I got re-directed to Apple Care (Apple Tech Support) as Apple Genius said they are “only the retailers and can’t help me with this.” (sure sign of trying to taichi (push) the responsibility already..)

Apple Tech Support (ATS) spent another half an hour on the phone with me (in which I had to explain myself again) and said there should have been a service report given to me at the Apple Store, but I was given nothing back other than my phone and a redirection back to ATS.

ATS told me there’s nothing else he can do without the service report and I’ve to get it from the Apple Store before he can proceed further. He also suggested for me to get a second opinion from another apple authorised service provider (the main store i went to cannot be trusted?).

So here I am, being looped around by Apple customer service and Apple retail store endlessly… until I suppose I get too frustrated and give up on my own (I read similar stories online before posting this), or cough out the $448 they value so much more than years of loyalty and raving to friends and family about their products.

If you think Apple still stands for incredible customer service, think again.

(To be fair, I’m comparing my service experience to companies like Amazon.com and Fitbit who shipped me a replacement Kindle and Fitbit Charge HR when they similarly broke down without having to put me through an interrogation, which I’m still very much a loyal fan of. They even took care of shipping fees!)

Have no choice but to lookout for other mobile phone brands after using Apple phones since the first iPhone came out in Singapore back in 2009. It’s frustrating because I’ve been a loyal fan for so long, but at the same time, it’s not logical if I simply get a new iPhone again and accept this level of service and commitment.

Hopefully my 2 macbooks don’t die next.

Anyone else had a similar frustrating experience? If it’s helpful, do share this with your friends who have not updated yet, to not update until they are sure the version is stabilised!

PAY YOUR PARKING THROUGH MOBILE APP. CANNOT RUN ALREADY

Have you downloaded the new parking mobile application yet if you are a car driver?

Of course, the app was rolled out yesterday, 1 October, and can be used to pay car parking fees at all 1,100 public car parks that still require parking coupons.

With the app, motorists just have to key in their vehicle number, enter the car park code, indicate the duration of parking, and pay via a credit or debit card. Fees are based on the length of time a car is parked on a per-minute basis. The app will also notify users when their parking sessions expire, so you can either extend the parking session or go out of the carpark.

For now, the app is only available for car drivers, although it will be extended to motorbikes and heavy vehicles by year’s end. With this, there is now no reason for you not to pay your parking charge, and the authorities found another novel way to keep collecting cash off you.
