HIGH SES CAR GIVES THE FINGER. MY KIDS ON BOARD LEH

noopBe safe on the road and dont endanger other’s life. Yesterday this car cut into our lane abruptly without signal. He wanted to cut into our lane to turn left at traffic light. My hubby immediately horn him to alert as accident will happen. The car was too close to ours. He immediately stopped his car and point Middle Finger at us. I have 2 younger children in the car and thus we did not do anything.

After putting us at the school, my hubby saw him U Turn and point Middle Finger again. We went to the nearest Police Station to file a report. Civil claims can be pursue and we need to engage our own lawyer. The procedure can be long and police said cannot do much.

Is this why our society become like this? No law to govern these road bully? Moreover he pointed to me a lady, its an offend to me.

So upset. Drive safe everyone! We need to be home safe for our families.

feeling angry.

HOMOSEXUAL KID LIVE IN FEAR BECAUSE OF 377A

qpoc_by_pride_flags-db316qe_1024x1024Law has weighed on my mind since I was a kid. I was barely 10, and my early sexuality was beginning to dawn on me. As a Christian boy, I sought answers in the Bible, nosing through “H” in the index and finding “homosexuality” and then finding “Leviticus” and “abomination” and finally “put to death”.

Not long after, I looked to the laws that governed my country and there 377A sat, not too different from Leviticus. And this was in the ’90s, by the way, so it was not at all a law that was un-enforced. So essentially I grew up with two laws hanging over my head. Imagine that, barely 10, and already aware of the law, already frightened of hell in both the mortal world and the afterlife.

People seem to think that because 377A isn’t enforced, it is symbolic, ~merely~ symbolic, not malicious, nor powerful, simply a nod to public graces. I have heard other writers say this, as if writers did not know that symbols have power.

When I first got into Singapore from London three weeks ago, I started feeling what others who’ve lived abroad have described as that certain “something about this country”. Especially if you’re someone living on some kind of margin for which there exists a sudden vastness of freedom elsewhere. For me, this “something” is a strange anxiety in my stomach that I wake up with every morning. It’s come back after a year, every morning, as if the body remembers.

I’m convinced some aspect of this weird feeling is the law. You feel the law slick against your skin like a membrane being draped over you as you arrive. You feel watched, if not by enforcers of the law, then by other Singaporeans. You are made to feel constantly subject to the law, the way it conditions your behaviour and your body in public.

Don’t tell me a law is merely symbolic when we all live constantly dampened by law, practically drowning in it. And if this law is “symbolic” of social attitudes, then these are social attitudes that make it shameful for lovers to hold hands on the street, make it hard for essentially married couples to plan for their future, for the ill to seek affordable treatment, for queer individuals to be their full selves in public. We cannot call on the law to have our backs.

And we know without having to take a survey that the proponents of this law are people who otherwise preach love and forgiveness and compassion. I grew up with them. I’ve sat through prayer meetings thanking God for Thio Li Ann.

These people are well organised. Their leaders are swept up in a seductive political language that comes from the darkest pits of the United States. They live in the end times; they have no view of the future except that it will crash and burn, and that they alone will survive. This is the vision with which they shape our current reality.

I’ll leave you to judge, from the wealth of knowledge we have of their beliefs and behaviours, if these are the “unacknowledged legislators” we want running our country’s moral affairs. Because not enforcing the law but leaving it there for keepsakes creates the moral environment in which these people can enforce the law on the state’s behalf: by censoring our media and our art, by deciding what books are not in the national interest, by governing sex education, by reporting people to the police at Pink Dot. They are far more creative, zealous, and far-reaching enforcers of homophobic law than the state could ever be.

This is all to say that after all these years since my first encounter with 377A, I’m still very angry. Angry at how much of my childhood and teenhood was conditioned by that law. How throughout my youth, I grew up believing that like my god, my society found me abominable, my desire punishable if not by death then by prison. How, as a result, my teen years were spent weeping in bed asking to be cured.

I’m very angry at how in 2018, surrounded by all the landmark legislation being passed around the world, “the majority of Singaporeans” apparently still think that this colonial era law is relevant. Or indicative of values they want to align themselves with.

I’m very angry that this is an issue that defers to the opinion of a strawman majority. I’m very angry that my elected officials have outsourced this debate to online echo chambers like this one instead of the parliament to which we’ve elected them. I’m very angry that the strongest opposition party we have has no real position on the subject.

And I’m actually really glad to be back home for this now, whatever ~this~ is, whether or not this, like every other time ~this~ comes up, will peter away into heartbreak and frustration, or finally be the conversation that gets our leaders thinking like leaders. Sign, write, call, talk to those who disagree, or shout fury into an echo chamber, whatever, let’s send something good into the universe.

PRINCIPLE LIE! DAUGHTER LEG FRACTURED. TEACHER DREAMING!

dasdas232This was what happened to my daughter last thursday, 6th Sept at ard 11am. Whole incident was the white board had fallen on my 5yo daughter at ard 11am. We are being told by the principal of school that my daughter “knock on to the white board” after 5pm.

Next day, bring my daughter go see doctor had an x-ray and discover her big toe bone was fractured. Trying to contact the school via school number n Hp since afternoon but no response at all. Till after 7pm finally gt reply frm principal. Request to see cctv footage on saturday but was told that she need IT guys assistance to view it. Huh??? And that would be monday 10 sept. So we decide to view on today 11 sept.

When we see the footage today, we can see the white board indeed fall on my daughter feet and is not “knock” as wat the principal had told us. There is only 1 teacher who is sitting and “FOCUSING” on “preparing for the class” as wat being claim by the principal.

Throughout the whole meet up session with school principal today, she is very defensive over the whole matter which make me n my wife more furious.

Who to contact for answers? This is negligence right?

2 MONTHS STILL CANNOT RESOLVE. BECAUSE NO DASHCAM

32132131212-September-2018:

2 months had gone by and till date no news/ report had been finalized. Its very depressing for a 25 years dude (my brother) who’s constantly living in fear for having the need to admit his fault for an accident that he was clearly, legally aware that he was at his right of way. But due to no luck the dash camera being purchased was yet to be installed and the accident happened.

It is being understood from many experience drivers that, drivers traveling straight are usually at the right of way under no concrete evidence circumstances hence my brother is at the losing end. Therefore, on behalf of my younger brother, am reaching out here again using the power of social media with hope that someone may come forward or share the footage of the accident when it occurred.

Accident occurred on 10-July-2018 along AMK Ave 5 & AMK Ave 10 (X junction diagonally opposite of ITE Colleague Central) (PHOTO 1).

*NO in built camera being installed on both vehicles*

Background:
My younger brother was traveling along AMK AVE 5 on a silver kia magnetis (SKJ5781Y). He was then making a right turn from AMK AVE 5 into AMK AVE 10. When the green right turn arrow was up, he proceeded with the right turn. Out of a sudden a car (SKZ3661E) from opposite direction collided towards his direction and hit him. The collide was so hard that the accident ended up diagonally opposite of ITE Colleague Central. Vehicle white Toyota Aqua Hybrid (SKZ3661E) was up the curb and his vehicle (SKJ5781Y) was dead along the road.

My younger brother was not injured however the driver had a lady passenger and was seen to be injured. Police, Ambulance & Traffic police were being alerted by him.

Dear responsible drivers and members out there coming from all walks of communities who had reached this post, my younger brother has learnt and understand the importance of dash camera and also learnt that in life there are many things which are beyond control (even to obey the traffic regulations and accident like such could still occurs) and little thing like having the dash camera being installed cannot be waited till tomorrow. He truly pray and hope witness could come forward to aid as he believed that Justices are not found on one simply bcos another has better luck and gender.

For better illustration, a sketch drawing was drawn (PHOTO 2).

11-July-2018:

Guys, I seriously beg for help here by hoping y’ll could share my post. Am begging for eye-witness & video footage for an accident occurred on 10-July-2018 along AMK Ave 5 & AMK Ave 10 (X junction diagonally opposite of ITE Colleague Central). Time: 10:10 to 10:30pm 🙏🏻

My little brother was the driver 😢. We thank Lord that my brother is safe and well throughout. Though there’s nothing much we could ask for than his well-being from the accident. But justices needs to be upheld as well right? My lil bro is at a loosing end now bcos he was making a right turn Home 😔. Both himself & that gr** driver do not have evidence such as dash camera installed. Passengers along witnessed but it wasn’t substantial. Guys, I trust the power of social media and I trust that y’ll understand the feeling of being framed unfairly.

With lotsa beg,
Alondra

SPF HOLD MAN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT UPDATING NEXT OF KIN? CAN AH?

stockjailI was told that my brother was arrested by the police. Went to Bedok South NPC to inquire about his status. I was told by the officer that the accused person is under custody at Bedok HQ. I was advised by the officer to wait for the IO to call as no further details were given.

It has been more than 48 hours but no one from Bedok HQ have updated the next of kin. Called Bedok HQ at 6244 0000 but was told that they do not have any details about my brother and asked us to call 6244 9999 instead. I have called the said number more than 20 times but no one answered the call. I had no choice but to dial 999 as my family is panicking over my brother’s whereabouts.

The officer told us that he will check the status for us and will get back to us. As it has been close to an hour now and I am still writing this feedback. Thank you police force for kidnapping my brother for more than 48 hours without informing his next of kin.

ELDERLY AT NURSING HOME LEFT TO STARVE.

312312312132123I am upset and appalled at how lightly a person life is taken in this country. More accurately, an elder’s well-being, despite hearing so much fluff re the need for enhancing quality of care for our aging population.

My father-in-law (fil), a stroke patient, was admitted to a local nursing home on 29 July 2016. Though he had multiple-conditions, he was mobile, active and can walk with assistance.

He was rushed to A&E on morning of 18 Aug 2016, just 20 days after admission to the home, in critical condition. He was fully non-responsive, diagnosed as being severely dehydrated, and classified as coroner’s case should he pass on. We were told to prep for the worst. Reports were filed with MOH and the police.

Unable to contact higher authority at the home, we wrote to KV Capital which held 100% interest in the home at the point in time.

A few days later, we were contacted by the COO of the home. Further prodding revealed that
– nursing manager had “resigned” (or asked to resign as the COO had mentioned) and returned to the Philippines
– nursing staff overseeing my fil had also “resigned” and returned to Philippines
– NO records of fil’s food/fluid input/output which is a requirement
– CCTV footage also showed that my fil was not brought out to the dining hall for at least two weeks

The home admitted fault in writing and offered compensation in terms of hospital bill and waiver of holding charges.

Since then, my fil remained unresponsive, non-communicative, required 100% assistance, and was fully bed-bound till his last on 19 Aug 2018. Beyond the increased expenses, he was on full tube-feeding, had non-communicative capability and zero quality of life.

Police were unable to file a case due to its nature (not a criminal offense but rather, possible negligence). Despite repeated emails to MOH, we received templated responses to await further investigations for the past >2 years.

Quoting what the MOH investigation officer shared in his “interview and statement taking” in Oct 2016 with my wife, he shared that the “piles of files” in his office were “cases from more than two years ago and still pending investigations”.

Does that mean that two years is not long enough to warrant a proper conclusive investigation to possible negligence that has caused a patient much suffering, indirectly (or directly) leading to his demise?

Does it also mean that there are so many similar cases out there that are not being addressed?

What is taking the ministry so long despite the gravity of such a case? Is this not important enough to warrant attention so that no other such cases fall through the cracks?

If the MOH’s objective is to ensure quality care for our aging population, this lack of accountability speaks the total opposite.

A life was compromised; a family ravaged and in debt due to the expenses. Who can tell us where to go for answers and help?

A helpless Singaporean

Update:
Thank you to all kind souls who have suggested we copy PM Lee Hsien Loong, Min Gan Kim Yong, AIC Chief Jason Cheah, and other MOH officials Amy Khor, Lam Pin Min(蓝彬明), Edwin Tong, Amrin Amin, yes, we had already done so in our previous correspondences to no avail, which is why this post was put up.
