Dear Singapore Uncensored,

My Dad being a traditional man wanted to me to settle down with Singaporean man and start a family and also to help his business. But having schooled overseas, I fell in love with this Aussie while studying over there.

We been dating for more than 3 years that when I decided to him to my family. It was a long distance relationship when I return back to Singapore but we kept in contact and we would see each other at least every 3 months.

In this round is was my Dad birthday and being the sweet guy he was said he wanted to buy a present for my Dad. He didn’t tell me what is was as he wanted to keep it a secret. My Dad wasn’t that happy when I intro him as my gf.

To make it worse the gift that my angmo bf brought for his birthday was a clock. In Chinese culture send a clock is akin to send a person off 送钟 means to attend a funeral.

Now my Dad totally hate him! What should I do?

HDB LIFT CANNOT EVEN FIT EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT & ENDANGERED MY FATHER’S LIFE!

0

I made a call to SCDF regarding my father’s health. I do not fault our civil defense as they were very prompt. When they came up to my floor, the door of the lift was stuck and one of the paramedics could not get out as the door did not open fully. They only managed to get the equipment out of the lift.

This caused a major inconvenience as my dad could not walk. The paramedics were kind enough to carry my dad down 3 floors and to the ambulance but they had to come back to collect their stretcher. I do not want to be responsible for the cause of someone else’s health at the cost of my unit’s lift fault.

A little brief description, this lift was made a few years back. Previously, we did not have a lift at our unit as it is only a 4 storey unit. The lift was supposed to help the elderly or wheelchair-bound citizens who have difficulty climbing the stairs. When the lift was ready, we were quite appalled by it. I am not saying that I am not appreciative but the lift can barely fit 4 people with a 280kg maximum weight.

We have had people complaining that our lift is scary, small, slow, claustrophobic etc. This lift was of course, paid for by the citizens living in that area. Those who are staying in regular 10+ floor houses have normal sized lift while they give those who are staying in the 4 floor houses really minuscule lifts. It can only fit 1 wheelchair in with a helper squeezing by the side.

Not only that, within a few years, I have seen this lift break down multiple times. I do not feel safe and I hope that this situation does not happen to anyone else but I believe the quality of the lift can be improved. I do not fault the serviceman who went down to help resolve this issue. They arrived promptly, only a few minutes after the ambulance have conveyed my father to the hospital. I believe the fault lies within the one who agreed on the tender of this lift.

PTE HIRE DRIVERS ALTERING PTE HIRE DECALS. 27 DRIVERS CAUGHT SO FAR

The authorities have announced that already 27 drivers have been caught for flouting the new regulations governing the private hire car industry. On July 1, laws requiring all private-hire drivers, such as those driving for the Uber and Grab apps, to obtain a Private Hire Car Driver’s Vocational Licence (PDVL) kicked in. Drivers have to attend and pass a 10-hour course.

The LTA confirmed that four drivers were nabbed for operating without the required vocational licence or the concession letter allowing them to pick up fares while they await their licence or vocational course. Another 23 individuals were found obscuring or altering the decals that identify them as private-hire cars or were caught driving without one.

The LTA have given the private hire drivers a grace period of up to one year to pass and obtain the PDVL, provided they sent in their applications by June 30. As of July 31, LTA received 50,600 PDVL applications. Among them, 4,900 applications were made after the June 30 deadline, although LTA did not say whether these applications will be afforded hte one year grace period.

About 42,000 chauffeur-driven private-hire cars have also been affixed with tamper-evident decals – a requirement under the new regulations. For operating a private-hire car without a decal or vocational licence or for making use of taxi stands, first-time offenders can be fined up to $1,000, jailed for up to three months or both. Repeat offenders may face a fine of up to $2,000, or a jail term of up to six months or both.

SINGAPOREAN HIT BY CAR IN MALAYSIA, STOMACH BLEEDING!

57-year-old Mr. Alias Ismail was struck from behind by a Malaysian car near Batu Pahat on Sunday evening, which left him in severe pain with 3 broken ribs and a bleeding stomach.

A Singaporean Aetos officer, Mr. Hid, said he passed by Mr Alias lying on the ground at about 8.40PM while on his way back to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur. Speaking to other passersby in the crowd that gathered around Mr. Alias, he gathered that Mr. Alias had been riding on the left of the road when the car hit him.

He recalled that Mr. Alias was conscious and tried to speak, but everyone told him to lie down and wait for the ambulance to arrive.

Mr. Hid subsequently posted Mr. Alias’ passport and motorcycle on Facebook to inform his family members about Mr. Alias’ situation. Mr. Alias’ nephew caught sight of the post and informed the family.

Mr. Alias is the process of being transferred to the National University of Singapore hospital.

This follows another case of a Singaporean who met his demise last week from his injuries after he was hit by another Malaysian car in Johor Bahru. The driver of that hit and run vehicle was arrested by the police and is now out on bail.

SON SAY WANTS TO JOIN GANG BECAUSE HE FOUND MY YOUNG & DANGEROUS VCD

I am a father of two and I have a lot of my old VCD hidden in the storeroom as I can’t bear to throw away, one of which is the young and dangerous VCD also known as Gu Huo Zai. A famous Hong Kong movie about the Triads.

My elder son found the VCD and watch it with my 11-year-old son while I was away. Days after my son came to me and said he wanted to be Chen Hao Nan( the lead character of the film) when he grows up. I asked him how you get to know this name. He said he found the VCD in the storeroom and now he wants to become a member of secret society when he grows up.

I had a hard time explaining to him that this is just a movie. The last time it took me days to explain why he cannot be Superman.

Time to throw away all the CDs!

PUNGGOL MONKEY NIGHTMARE OVER. CAPTURED BY AVA

The monkey that had made the news in Punggol over the weekend has been captured by the AVA. The monkey was seen in the evenings at Punggol’s Waterway Sunbeam estate, according to residents who stay there.

Some pictures and videos of the monkey eating oranges and eggs that it had snatched from a passer-by, as well as hanging out at a playground were taken by a resident there. The resident also claimed that the monkey scratched the leg of a boy who is four or five years old and also climbed up outside the units of some flats. Acres and AVA were both highlighted.

A spokesman for AVA told The Straits Times yesterday that the agency has received “15 pieces of feedback from the public on monkey-related issues at Punggol Waterway” since Sept 1, and has been working with the Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council to monitor and conduct surveillance of the area. Some cited safety concerns because the monkey snatched things from children and scratched a boy. “The monkey has been caught to safeguard public safety and we are exploring relocation options,” said AVA.

AVA advised the public not to feed monkeys as this alters their natural behaviour and causes them to become reliant on humans for food.
