Ha ha ha, guess what I just found out. MOE is asking me for my ‘O’ level results to ensure that I am qualified to do learning journey tours after I have been vocationally trained for the tours and been doing them for schools for at least 3 years. This is so funny because I am 64 years old, talk obviously like an educated person, possess a degree and have probably thrown away my ‘O’ level certificate.
So much for all that talk by MOE Ministers about how important skills and vocational training will be for future work and jobs. They should really talk to their bureaucrats first and convince them that there is more to learning than ‘O’ levels.
I might just boycott MOE and let them tell me that I am not qualified so that I can go to the press with my story and let everyone see how stupid the Ministry can be.
PS: On a more serious note, I don’t think any Ministry should ask any senior citizen (over 60 yrs) for ‘O’ or ‘A’ level certificates for any skills or vocational jobs. It is a form of discrimination.

Disclaimer: I don’t have a solution in mind for this but it’s extremely important to raise awareness of social issues that are being swept under the rug.
Last night, I couldn’t help but notice an elderly lady, half my height, frail and fragile, dragging her weak body across the food-court to clear the plates on the table. I thought to myself, she’s got to be at least 70 years old!
Out of curiosity, I approached her and asked – “Aunty, how are you? You’re looking strong! How old are you this year?”. “75”, she replied. With this conversation starter (which would probably get me rejected by any other lady), I uncovered her story…
Mdm Feng is 75 this year and lives with her 72 year old sister who suffers from speech disability. In their Toa Payoh flat, these two ladies make barely enough to cover their food, transport and medical bills each month.
At 75 years old, Mdm Feng works from 5pm-10pm everyday, drawing a salary of $5 an hour. $700 a month.
“Why do you still have to work at this age?”, I asked. “I have to continue to work while my body allows me to, or else, when my body fails me, who can I turn to for help?”, she responded. Unfortunately, Mdm Feng is single and has a mute sister as her only kin. She needs to work; she has to work. At 75, frail and weak, I wonder how long her runway will extend before the grave calls. Does she literally have to work to her grave?
A social safety net. Welfare support. Buzzwords? This isn’t an issue about politics or power, but what how we want to collectively define our society and measure our performance beyond dollars and cents. How can we strive for greater equality? How can we provide greater support to an entire class in need? I agree that extreme state welfare may breed laziness, but surely there is room to diligently increase support in the right areas?
This introduces a moral dilemma – what is a right area? I don’t have an answer, but we need to collectively define the future of this society, and I hope we’ll be at a place where a 75-year-old will no longer have to work to her grave in order to live. The irony of it all.

A husband of mine, we have married for 4years. Before we married he already bank loan money for his gamble habit! Maybe i really stupid enough to believe that he will change n quit gambling for the sake of our child yet I’m wrong. His gamble habits from bad to worse!
I can’t stand it anymore for his gamble habit. So I decided to divorce but he don’t wanna divorce so I given him another chance wish that he really will change yet he out of sudden say he want divorce. Yet I found out
that he always go to Thai disco and from there he know a Thailand girl and they were seeing together. So they were together n gamble together end up owe more then 10 credit company by using his own Mother , Brother , Father n supervisor name to borrow money!
n few bank loan all added up almost 200k so both of them ran away from Singapore without tell anyone even his own family. And just dump me n my child without worry how we gonna survive. He can use all money and spend on gamble and open hotel to fk his siambu but he cant give any maintenance fees for his own biological child.
Whenever ask him for maintenance fees he will always say no money but got money go hotel all this. In front of his Friends he sure show or act as a good Father dote my child all this but behind he abuses my child.
And now I’m pregnant with his second child yet he asked me go for abortion alone. Furthermore he even wrack me when I’m pregnant with his own biological baby now.
In my whole life I really never meet such a person like him. As a husband or Father he totally terrible. I just hope next girl with him better think twice before together with him. Full of debt n a women beater.

Stop queuing! Balestier has the cheapest roast duck – $13.80 for one whole duck (takeway)! If you want them to portion the duck for you, it’s only $1 dollar more at $14.80 for one whole duck (cut)! Still cheaper than the $15 dollars stall.
According to an article affixed at the stall, the owner apparently has a duck farm in Malaysia and they have ready supply of ducks. That is why they are able to keep the price so low.
It’s really good value and taste not bad. The stall, 酒乡香(Jiu Xiang Xiang) is located at the Teck Seng coffee shop, opp Thomson Value Hotel along Jalan Datoh. The coffee shop is also famous for their Bah Chor Mee and Bah Ku Teh.

A hospital is a place where the sick and injured can recover in peace. Apparently, fan’s of Cristiano Ronaldo does not think so. The star arrived at approximately 10.05am at Thomas Medical.
He had to be escorted by multiple security guards and both reporters and fans were nothing but annoyance.
The crowd cheered upon his arrival and it was over after the star enters the elevator. But what is stopping the fans from waiting for him to leave?
