THAILAND SHOULDN’T BE KNOWN FOR JUST BOOZE, SCAMS AND S*X! :EXPAT LIVING IN THAILAND

One thing that most visitors to Thailand don’t know: they didn’t see or understand anything about Thailand.

You see for most visitors a trip to Thailand means Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok or worse full moon parties and an alcohol-fueled beach binge. Hate to tell you but that isn’t Thailand. You spent a holiday in a small section of Thailand designed for tourists and focused on sex, booze, scams and all the typical things westerners seem to expect on a trip to Asian holiday hot-spots.

But it’s not Thailand. Not even close.

Thailand is a beautiful, quiet, remarkable country full of very conservative and respectful people. Thai live a relatively humble life. The majority are farmers or work in local markets and their lives consist of providing for the daily needs of their families.

The country side is adorned with small villages, temples and rice fields. Small cities offer cultural and dinning experiences with most regions offering unique foods, clothes, gifts and a wide variety of scenic indulgences.

Small street stalls with local delicacies can be found in every street. Streets come live with the many different foods in the evenings. As the main businesses close the sidewalks become eateries for the locals.

There is live entertainment to be found all across the country though it is more easily discovered in the larger centres.

Nightly markets spring up providing food, clothes and a variety of bric-a-brac to rummage through. Local crafts are often on display and the traveling markets are popular with locals.

Tours are plentiful with everything from hiking and white water rafting to eco-tours and elephant rides.

If you are fortunate or smart enough to get out off the beaten track pay attention to where the locals go to shop and find out the times of the local markets for the best prices on food, fruit and veg.

Traveling through Thailand is really inexpensive and there is no problem finding accommodation around the country.

The dirty secret: there is much, much more to Thailand than Pattaya.

Eww, someone thinks Sembawang car park is literally a dumping ground!

“Please help. Blk 608A multi-storey car park deck 4A and 4B plagued with human faeces.

This is not the first time that it has happened and the 2 decks of carpark reeked of faeces. It’s unhygienic and may breed diseases. Greatly appreciated that something is done”.

S LEAGUE MATCH AT JALAN BESAR BECOMES PHYSICAL (VIDEO)

UGLY FOOTBALL AT JALAN BESAR:

SOMETIMES, if not most times, the media don’t cover crucial S-League matches. I wish I had the real answer why they’re not interested.

Monday night’s THE NEW PAPER League Cup match between arch-rivals Home United and Hougang United, which ended 1-1, was a very acrimonious affair. Disgraceful, to say the least!

Poor sportsmanship and lowest levels of gamesmanship were shown and this video clip clearly shows in the final stages of the match, where all hell broke loose, with little respect for the match-officials.

Eyewitness accounts say Afiq Yunos (No 3 of Home United) was cautioned for a reckless challenge. He then went on to show dissent to the match officials. He was later shown the red card for a second caution. Even after being red-carded, Afiq did not leave the field and reportedly continued to protest against the decision.

PUSH THE REFEREE?

Eyewitnesses say he allegedly used his hand to push the referee and had to be escorted off the field by security personnel.

More to come: Khairul Nizam (No 12 of Home United), according to eyewitnesses, who was on at the HUFC technical area, later abused the referee, with loud abusive Malay words like “Butoh lah referee…f**k you, f**k you”, which could be clearly heard from the grandstand.

The red card was dispensed to Khairul Nizam, who according to eyewitnesses, later tried to confront the referee.

Two match-marshalls at the tunnel noted that Afiq Yunos continued to abuse the match officials as they walked past the tunnel. This was confirmed by eyewitnesses. He allegedly said in a loud voice that the men-in-black held personal grudges against him.

In total, as I understand from eyewitnesses, three from Home and four from Hougang, were yellow-carded. Two from Home were red-carded.

SHAMEFUL HOME UNITED

Oops, I forgot to ask the eyewitnesses if the two head coaches shook hands as it appears to be an unceremonious post-match gesture not to do the traditional exchange of hand-greetings! (CORRECTION: Both Phillipe Aw (Hougang) and Aidil Sharin (Home) SMSed me to say they shook hands at Jalan Besar — after not doing so in an earlier match at Hougang Stadium)

Let me repeat: There’s no sense of “Home” in the S-League. I feel very, very sad at such discreditable, disreputable and detestable football from Home United, which is the football branch of the Singapore Police Force. If they resort to such disastrous, disgraceful and distressing sportsmanship, where is Singapore professional football headed?

Oh, what a League Cup bummer thriller at Jalan Bear Stadium, how I wish the media wrote something…thankfully, a few eyewitnesses send me a clip of the rip-roaring action in the final minutes of the match.

The FAS Competitions Department must act hard and take immediate action against the errant players, some of whom dare lay hands on the match-officials.

Pray tell me, FAS: Where’s the “law and order” in top football matches?

Me and my girlfriend were together for 2 years. I found out she was cheating on me. I tried to convince myself that I was wrong. I thought she would never cheat me. One day we were sitting together and having a conversation. She was talking about another guy again and again. And suddenly she told me that she never liked me.

I was shocked, the girl who never slept without talking to me was telling me she never liked me. I was freezed out. I tried to speak but no word came out. My body began to cool down. I was out of sense. That was just the beginning.

She began to criticize me. She said I’m ugly, had small forehead, am a coward, thin and emotional. She said she has no future with me. She pointed out all my imperfections. She said I look like a snake. That is the one thing I will never forget.

Do I look like a snake?

I loved and trusted her so much. I gave her what she wanted. I broke up with her.

It’s been 8 month. I forgot her but I can’t forget that conversation.

My english is not the best but I tried. I’m sorry.
