Does Medical procedures bring revenue for public hospitals??

0

Do not profit on drugs

The Health Ministry should explain whether does it makes profits on the medical procedure carried out in hospitals while they states that public healthcare institution do not profit from drugs they prescribe on 10/3/2017

Procedure costs $3,000 at SGH vs $1,600 at private hospital

From my understanding while going through a positron emission tomography (PET) scan would cost about $1600 in private hospital while in Singapore General Hospital would cost a patient without subsidisation about $3,000.

It would be good for MOH to not only gather a list of the non-subsidised cost of procedures and put it on its website patient to compare. Eg CT scans, MRIs and so forth.

Markup % on overheads & operations’ costs?

What is the percentage margin markup of drugs for overheads and operations’ costs?

What are overheads & operations’ costs?

What exactly are the overheads and operations’ costs? – Salaries, rent, utilities, logistics, etc?

Mark up % on medical procedures?

Since a positron emission tomography (PET) scan at the Singapore General Hospital may charge a non-subsidised patient 87.5 per cent more than ($3,000 divided by $1,600) a private hospital? What the percentage markup (if any) by the same sign on the medical processes

Public healthcare spending + Medisave top-ups + Medisave withdrawals = $13.2b?

Since total public healthcare spending, Medisave top-ups VS total withdrawals from Medisave, were about $13.2 billion ($9.8 + $3.4 billion)

Medisave contributions + annual % on Medisave accounts’ balances = $13.2b?

Estimated annual Medisave contributions adding the annual interest on Medisave accounts’ balances is at least $13.3 billion

Cashflow perspective – Govt not be spending a single cent on healthcare?

  • Through cash flow viewpoint if annual influxes exceed outflows ($13.3 billion – $13.2 billion) does that actually means that the Government may still not be spending a single cent on healthcare?

The ARREST WAS A MISTAKE: ORCHARD ROAD STREET PERFORMER

Silver Man” aka street busker was accused of actively asking for tips by a member of public who lodged a report which lead him to arrest by police gotten on the wrong side of the law yesterday night.

Mr Payamal disagrees that he was flouting any of the guidelines as buskers are not allowed to actively solicit for gratuity.

Mr Payamal, 53, told reporters after his discharge that he assumed that his obviously loud voice could have led to a misunderstanding. He had told the male police officer to communicate to him in English as the police officer had been talking to his colleague in Mandarin during the conflict with the police,

“I’m fine. It’s just a misinterpretation” Mr Payamal said after the incident, My voice is naturally loud as an entertainer and a rocker but it just sounded to them like I’m shouting.

“I did explain to the officer in the station and she understood me. I was treated very well at the station and so I really appreciated that and thanked them before I left.”

Sales manager Eric Fong lodged a grievance about the police officers in relation to this incident reproving the police of mishandling their power. The incident of his arrest on Facebook was circulated and went viral after shared.

LIFT AT ANG MO KIO HDB NEARLY CHOP OFF A GUYS HAND.

To Whom It May Concern,
Hi, yesterday I had a close shave with the lift system yesterday. Me and my two sons was waiting for the lift. When the lift door opened, my older son ran in and I followed in but with my younger son was still outside. The lift closed suddenly on my right hand before I can react. Both the motion sensor of the lift door and the “fail safe” mechanism failed to work and my hand was stuck for a few seconds.

I couldn’t retrieve my hands because I was carrying a bag so I was basically stuck. I also couldn’t reach for the lift button because it was at my back. Luckily the lift did not move at all. I quickly asked my older son to press the open door button to open the lift door again. If he hadn’t done so, my hand would have been severed. Yes, this is again a Sigma lift.
I called the lift emergency helpline and informed them about this incident. From their tone, I can sense that to them it’s like any other day. She wasn’t concerned at all.
I wish to bring up a few issues.
One, with recent incidents, it’s apparent that our lift system is not reliable at all. Maybe slightly better then our train system but still considered problematic and pathetic.
Two, I don’t see why we would need to pay more SC&C in order to upgrade our lift systems Island wide. The old lifts never had such issues. We paid for the lifts when we bought the flat. We didn’t get to chose the lift system. We did not sign up for this Sigma hand chopped off lift system. We are already paying the highest SC&C island wide. Not that we can’t afford it. I am questioning the rationale behind it and why should we be waiting for things to happen and the funds to come in before reacting?
Three, the lift system is made of metal, sensors and electrical systems. This technology has been around since 1880. I find it disturbing that we cannot fix the door or lift issues that we have island wide without changing the entire lift system. This is at the expense of life and limps.

COUPLE PUSHED 2Y.O CHILD. After Confronted She Said “WHAT DO YOU WANT?”

Sigh.

What was supposed to be an exciting experience turned very upsetting all thanks to this couple.

A lady in front of me was squatting down and taking a picture of her lil one. I wanted to cross over but I waited for her to be done as the walkway was really very small and crowded. I was holding Bb Z’s hand.

But! This lady who was clearly in a bad mood- Her face said it all. She was so impatient that she pushed her way through, stepped on BB Z’s foot, pushing both my baby and the other lady. The other lady fell forward and Bb Z fell flat on the ground. She saw my Bb was lying on the ground, but instead of helping and being sorry, she just walked away. I called out to her and told her off. She turned ard, looked down at my baby, looked at me, rolled her eyes and walked away.

After checking on Bb Z if he was ok, I went over to her and told her how could she walk away without even making sure if my bb was ok and apologise… she merely raised her brows and said very grimly that she did. She even said, “so what do you want?” I told her that it does not take alot for her to just help after pushing my kid down and apologise for it.

Again, she raised her eyebrows, w a smirk on her face & raised her voice, “I did, so what do you want?” Her husband who was not w her when this happened, whom was busy taking pictures, suddenly intervened and said, ” We did apologise…” Seriously? He was not even there!!

When I told him what the wife did -stepped on a 2 yr old foot, pushed him and made him fall, turned ard, looked at him and walked away…
He laughed and the wife then shouted at me, “So what do you want? Do you want me to announce via PA and apologise?”

Geez. Some pple just dont hv the manners. Gosh. How could anyone as big size as her and of the age, just stepped on 2 yr old kid, pushed him down and walked away without feeling sorry? It was clearly intentional. She saw us but she was being impatient and wanted to push her way through. Urgh.
