A 22-year-old man has been arrested for murder following a fatal stabbing incident at a residential block in Choa Chu Kang on the night of May 26.
The incident took place at Block 248 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2, where a 21-year-old woman was later found lying motionless at the lift lobby on the 12th floor.
According to the Singapore Police Force, officers received a call for assistance at around 8:55pm.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman unconscious. She was subsequently pronounced dead by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
The suspect was later arrested and conveyed to hospital.
Man Allegedly Fell From 18th Floor After Incident
Earlier reports by Chinese-language media stated that the man allegedly jumped from the 18th floor after the stabbing incident.
Photos circulating online also showed a damaged rubbish bin near the block, which the suspect allegedly struck after falling.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the injuries sustained by the man.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
According to reports by Lianhe Zaobao, the pair were believed to be a couple.
Residents Shocked By Heavy Police Presence
The incident drew significant attention from nearby residents after multiple police vehicles and emergency responders arrived at the scene late at night.
Witnesses reportedly saw officers cordoning off parts of the residential block while investigations were carried out.
Several residents gathered nearby as forensic officers examined the area.
Violent crimes involving fatal stabbings remain uncommon in Singapore, often drawing widespread public attention due to the country’s generally low crime rates and strong public safety reputation.
