Will Smith was previously announced to have been banned from the Oscars for 10 years on 8 April following his assault of Chris Rock at the Oscars ceremony.
Later that same night, Chris Rock was performing at a comedy show in Indio, California; and he responded to the news by saying:
“I’m OK, I have a whole show and I’m not talking about that until I get paid. Life is good. I got my hearing back.”
Chris Rock has largely remained silent following the now-infamous incident that grabbed headlines all across the world, and he previously said in another show that he was still processing the incident.
Meanwhile, Will Smith has since responded to his Oscars ban by saying that he accepts and respects the decision of the academy.
He also previously issued a puglic apology to Chris Rock and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Academy has also not stripped him of his Best Actor award for his performance in the movie, King Richard.
Celebrities such as 50 Cent also weighed in on the news, saying “this is too harsh. So he can’t come back till he is 63 years old.”
