Patronised Ya Kun at CK Tang on 1 Dec 2021 around 3pm.
Your male staff in charge of making coffee first shouted loudly at me to scan tracetogether. I was not upset though my husband thought there was no need to shout across to customers to remember to scan before sitting.
Few moments later, I walked up to the coffee counter to request for a fork. Your 2 staff – the coffee making uncle and the cashier girl (see photos) were chatting amongst themselves. They are fully aware that a customer is standing in front of them who needed something (eye contacts were made) and yet they totally ignore my request and continue chatting as if I was transparent. After waiting for some time for them to finish chatting, no initiative was made to check with a customer standing right in front of them who asked for a fork which they can just pass over in few seconds so that I can go off. I raised my voice to request again as I suspected they could not hear me for the first time and I needed to catch their attention so they can stop chitchatting and attend to me. Fork was then passed to me.
After which, I informed your male staff that there was a dead cockroach below the table besides me and showed him the photo. I requested for him to clear away the dead cockroach. Instead of apologizing for the cockroach, your male staff started to get defensive and shouted at me that cockroaches came from outside Ya Kun premises and it is not due to Ya Kun. What kind of attitude is this? Why is your staff barking at customers?
I do not care if the cockroaches came from outside or inside Ya Ku due to bad hygiene and I merely ask your staff to clear the dead cockroach. Does Ya Kun expect customers to drink their coffee with a dead cockroach corpse beside? Will it take very long or a great hassle to clear away the cockroach? And most importantly, why is your staff raising his voice at customers? If your staff has inadequate training or has attitude problem, please do something about it. No customers would want to walk to a coffee place and get barked at for nothing. We do not owe you money or whatsoever.
If your staff is not happy being a frontline worker attending to customers’ requests, he can quit his job and do something else if he has other capabilities. Totally zero customer service and barking away at customers. What crap is this? If your customers require something, a spoon, more milk etc, just accede to the request which take few seconds, what is the big issue?
And the cockroach, you do not just tell your customers that the cockroach came from outside instead you should check your whole premises to ensure it is clean and not infested with cockroaches. What is your point to tell your customers it is not from your premises? Who would totally believe anyway? After I insisted that the cockroach should be cleared away, your staff then went to get his broom.
Such an experience at Ya Kun CK Tang.
