EGGS FROM MALAYSIAN FARM RECALLED IN SINGAPORE BECAUSE OF SALMONELLA

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) released a statement on 12 March, stating that several importers in Singapore have been told to recall eggs from Lay Hong Berhad Layer Farm Jeram in Malaysia because the Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) present in the eggs may cause foodborne illness is they were to be consumed raw or undercooked.

The affected importers are Ang Seng Eggs Supplier, Dasoon Pte Ltd, Heng Guan Food Industrial and Lam Leng Trading Co, and the eggs that are affected have the farm code “CES008” on the egg shells.

SFA noted that the affected eggs are nevertheless safe to consume IF they are cooked thoroughly before being eaten, as SE can be destroyed by heat, which means you’ll need to coock the egg white and egg yolk until they are solid.

People who have eaten the eggs and feel unwell are advised to seek medical attention.

The Malaysian farm is currently suspended and SFA will lift the suspension once the farm has rectified the SE issue with their eggs.
