Tan Yew Sin, 46, who was a former grab driver claimed trial after attempting to rape a 19 year old passenger he picked up Seletar Aerospace Park 2 years ago.
The 46 year old man is contesting a charge each of attempted rape, sexual assault and outrage of modesty, which he allegedly committed on the victim in his car.
Tan accepted the Grab booking in the early hours of May 19, 2018 for fetch the victim home from Wildseed Bar. At that point of time, the victim was seen to be tipsy and crying as her friend helped her into the car.
But instead of helping her home, Tan began to kiss her before attempting to rape her. The victim was brought to a secluded area where he assaulted her. He then dropped off the victim at her residence before driving off.
The victim was found by another Grab driver in the middle of the road with her underwear and shorts missing. The Grab driver then called the police.
Tan has been banned from Grab’s platform.
The trial continues. If convicted of attempted rape or sexual assault by penetration, Tan could be jailed for up to 20 years, fined, or caned.Â
