GUY GOT FIRED, THEN FORMER EMPLOYER ASKED HIM TO REMOVE NEGATIVE REVIEW ABOUT THEM

Former employer asked me to remove a negative review on Glassdoor

I wrote a negative review about a former employer on Glassdoor a few months ago. I was terminated almost two years ago.

Found an email in my inbox today from one of the co-founders saying that he could only imagine the review was from me, and reminding me I signed a non disclosure agreement “in connection to a severance payment”.

He concluded by saying that getting into a public war of words does us no good, and telling me to honor the agreement and take the post down. Should I?

For context, the circumstances of my departure definitely violated my rights, and I posted in part about the emotional mistreatment I suffered but mostly about other toxic aspects of the entire culture.

  1. Isn’t Glassdoor anonymous though? It would be impossible for him to pursue that, even if he is right. I’d ignore his request.
  2. Yeah, boo hoo. Former employer treats people poorly and then cries because he has a hard time hiring more people to treat poorly when they find out.
  3. edit your review to add that they asked you to delete it
  4. Reply back that you didn’t write it so you cannot remove it. He doesn’t know it’s you; he’s just guessing.
  5. Alternatively, you could go way above whomever sent the email and contact “THEIR” boss, showing them the email. You tell them you’re unaware of what the email is pertaining to and ask them to just leave you alone, you “already signed an nda why would you go past that?” -(what you could tell them)
  6. He has no right to do that for as long as you are not exposing confidential conpany data. Telling that management makes bad decisions or treats employees poorly or similar is not an issue.
  7. Why? Because you are the only one they treated like crap, and they know it.? You should thank him for putting that in writing for you. I’d post a pic of the email too.
