What’s your unpopular opinion on Singapore’s food.

Singaporeans eat a carb heavy diet that is low in protein, healthy fats and complex carbs. As a result they become skinny-fat with potruding bellies and tiny stick arms.
Despite being income-rich, many Singaporeans still eat out at hawker centers which serve nothing but nutritionally poor dishes loaded with simple carbs, salt, msg and poorly cooked meat.
In short, Singaporeans eat like coolies and look like coolies. They have no conception of what constitutes nutritious food and have no issues enduring long queues for low-quality peasant food.

- True ( for the majority) but why so aggressive?
- from talking about unhealthy food to making fun of our appearance
- i used to have a colleague from shanghai who asked why is sg’s food so heavy on staples with such a tiny portion of accompanying dishes, like 3 slices of meat and 2 stalks of vegs kind of tiny.
told her sg used to be poor hence people tend to eat alot more rice to keep themselves full and that habit passed down since then.
my mil is one of those. “rice is the most impt! u must eat more rice! alot of rice! humans MUST eat rice!” i tried telling her rice is actually junk food before and she nearly ripped my head off in anger. - OP is not going to hear any other unpopular opinions on Singapore’s food, only opinions about his/her opinion – which reeks so much of generalisation and a condescending tone.
- It’s unhealthy I don’t eat it. I just prep my own food or buy salads for lunch. Hawker food is very rarely. Judge me all you want, you are what you eat in the end.
- You do know that most Asian food are carb heavy and we are in Asia, living is a asian society right? As with everything in life, including your viewpoints on this, moderation is key. “Peasant” food is ok if you balance it with other food groups.
- Hawker food was never meant to be healthy. It was meant to be cheap, fast and high in carb for coolies plus also tasty
