Throwaway account because my friend is involved, but I cannot take it anymore. Need to vent.
We always talk about bums, but this one is next level.
My friend’s colleague (let’s call her A) is a super hardworking Malaysian girl. A few years ago, she married this guy “Eric” in JB. This Eric guy is a certified professional loafer. No drive, no hustle, just pure vibe and “big dreams.” His daily routine? Wake up at 2 PM, blast music on his phone, lie on the bed, and fantasize about becoming a crypto millionaire or something. Total waste of oxygen.
Because Eric refuses to work, A had no choice but to become the sole breadwinner. She was doing the daily JB-SG checkpoint hustle. Wake up at 4 AM, squeeze like sardines through KTM/bus, work a high-stress job in SG, and reach home at 10 PM. Meanwhile, Eric is at home playing games and enjoying the aircon.
Eventually, A’s mental and physical health completely broke down. She realized this cannot go on. She decided to move to SG permanently to cut down on travel time and find a better-paying corporate job so she could support both of them (don’t ask me why she didn’t just dump him then, love is blind).
At first, Eric actually complained. He was scared nobody would buy him food or do the chores. But when he realized her SG salary in SGD (3.2x exchange rate, huat ah) meant he could continue being a useless bum in Malaysia comfortably, he quickly shut up and said okay.
Months turned into years. A settled into SG life, renting a room here, working hard. Eric stayed back in his JB bubble, doing absolutely nothing, just waiting for the monthly allowance to hit his bank account.
Here is the plot twist.
Naturally, distance makes the heart grow colder—especially when your husband is a literal parasite. A recently met a Singaporean guy at her workplace. Solid guy, got stable career, stable future, treats her like an actual human being instead of a walking POS terminal.
Long story short: She’s been seeing the SG guy behind Eric’s back. Honestly? Nobody in the office even blames her. If you treat your wife like a financial ATM, don’t surprised when someone else treats her like a queen.
Eric is still at home right now probably dreaming about his luxury cars, completely clueless that his SGD sponsorship is about to get canceled.
