Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed papers to divorce her husband, rapper-businessman Kanye West.
Kardashian’s representative confirmed that she had filed the divorce papers.
TMZ alleged that the split was amicable and that she asked for joint custody of their four children.
The divorce proceedings come in the wake of rumours that the relationship between the power couple have been on the rocks.
Their relationship reportedly became strained last year when Kanye West, who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, ran a campaign to be elected US president that was unsuccessful and was marked by erratic comments.
He named his party, Birthday Party.
Kardashian released a statement asking for compassion for West’s mental state but the two continued growing apart, with West spending time at his Wyoming ranch and Kardashian at her Calabasas mansion outside LA.
