I Flipped Watches to My Friends to make a huge profit from them, Only for Them to Find Out the Truth.
Today has been an absolute roller coaster for me. I totally messed up by flipping watches I bought from a website to my friends for serious profit.
I never thought they would find out, but oh boy, did they ever. I guess it was an uncool move though so that’s on me.
Context
So, here’s the background: I follow alot of budget watch forums and one newer watch website got these watches that looked so pretty fricking legit for cheap.
So, like any other budding entrepreneur, I came up with a genius plan to make some serious cash.
I started buying these watches and flipping them to my friends, family, and colleagues, claiming that I had connections with luxury watch suppliers and could get them at a discount.
I’d buy the watches from the website for a fraction of their perceived value and sell them for a huge markup. It felt like I was running a successful little side hustle.
Everything was going smoothly until one of my friends, who had bought a watch from me exposed me.
His brother apparently pointed out that the watch brand is budget. He found the exact model he had purchased from me was listed for way less than what I had charged him. As you can imagine, he was not happy at all.
Things escalated quickly, and he shared this with our mutual friends, who also had bought watches. They all felt betrayed prob for good reason. Blew up in my face and they got pretty mad. I mean its not like it wasnt a consensual deal though.
The fallout has been rather brutal. My friends are mega pissed have even started distancing themselves from me.
Hopefully they mellow out in a week.Â
