A man in Malaysia reportedly killed his own mother and chopped her up into 15 pieces after a fight over inheritance, before throwing the body parts into a sewage tank behind their home in Perak, according to The Star and Asia News Network.
The body was found after a neighbour noticed a stench coming from the estate, and the 42-year-old man was arrested for the murder of his 68-year-old mother.
Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, the police chief of Perak, said that the man suffers from a mental disorder.
Foul stench
Mior further added that after the neighbour reported the foul stench, the authorities conducted a search at the family’s home, a single storey house near Parit Buntar, Perak.
they found wooden planks covering the sewage tank behind the house, and a forensics team then discovered the body parts of the deceased, before the suspect was arrested.
The victim’s daughter also lodged a police report on 28 May, after failing to find her mother.
The daughter, who lives elsewhere, calls her mother daily but on that day, she called her and her bother picked up the phone instead, telling her that their mother went out and had yet to return.
The police then went to their home to investigate after receiving the missing person report and the son was then questioned on 28 May.
Fought over inheritance
Mior said that the house was really smelly and messy, as both mother and son collect used items and recyclables.
Two knives and a machete were also found at the site, believed to be the murder weapons used by the suspect.
Mior added that the suspect had hit his mother over her head with a weapon, and she then collapsed, following which he then chopped her into 15 pieces.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect had allegedly done so because he was unsatisfied with how the inheritance left behind by his late father was divided.
