MAN PRESSURED TO WASTE MONEY ON COLLEAGUES FAREWELL GIFT

As I reflect on the past month, I am taken aback by the staggering amount of money I have spent on farewell gifts for colleagues I barely know. The total sum of $50 may not seem like a lot, but the principle behind it is what bothers me. Why must we be forced to contribute to these farewell gestures, only to be judged by our peers if we don’t comply?

The HR department often presents these contributions as optional, but we all know the reality is far from it. When I express my reluctance to participate, I am met with a barrage of questions, making it easier to just cough up the money to avoid the hassle. And then, there’s the added pressure of not wanting to be seen as stingy, lest our contribution amounts are revealed to the entire office.

I often wonder who comes up with these brilliant ideas. Are they scholars who have never had to live on a farmer’s salary? Do they understand the struggles of ordinary people like us?

Knn this month alone I alr spent $50 for people’s farewell. Some I dun even know who they are! They leave not their daiji meh? Why must force whole world to give money? This is also the part I hate most cos HR will say is optional but then when I dun wan to pay, they will ask this ask that ask so many questions until I dulan just pay money easier. Then give alr so cannot give too small amount cos hearsay they will reveal who give how much and who never give! Why must do until like that! Everytime I question HR they will say they bopian just following orders so must be some scholar’s brilliant idea la? Their pay how much our pay how much? And some more farmers like us will never leave one so how we benefit from this farewell thing? Walao worse than cpf pui
