MOM: MIGRANT WORKERS’ HALF YEARLY CHECKUPS DEFERRED TO EASE CLINIC LOADS

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) released a statement today saying that employers who receive notices to send their migrant workers or female work permit holders for their half yearly medical examinations on January and February this year can defer their examinations to 30 Apr 2022.

This is to help ease the queues and workloads which polyclinics and general practitioners (GPs) face daily due to the current surge in cases which already are causing long lines of patients at the clinics.

MOM also said that workers who will be receiving the notices for the checkups in March and April will be given a new notice date via email or post come end April.

They ended by saying that even though employers who bring their workers for their checkups now will not be turned away by the clinics, it hopes that employers will defer bringing their workers for their checkups now unless their workers require immediate medical attention.

Here is the post by MOM

“To ease the pressure faced by healthcare providers, the six-monthly medical examination (6ME) for Migrant Domestic Workers and other female Work Permit holders will be deferred.

Employers will be notified by MOM on the deferment and new 6ME dates.

Should employers need to send their workers to the clinics for the 6ME, they will not be turned away.

However, we urge employers to defer the 6ME visit, unless medical attention is needed.
