The refuse collection fees for HDB households will be increased to $9.63 per month, up by $1.38, from January 2022 onwards – The National Environment Agency said that this is the first time fees are increased since 2017.
The reason for the increase is because of the increasing operational and manpower costs of refuse and recyclables collection.
Those living in private apartments will also pay the same amount as those in HDB homes.
Those who are living in landed properties will by an increased amount of $32.07, which is an increase of $4.60.
Can use GST Voucher – U-Save rebate to offset
The Goods and Services (GST) Voucher – U-Save rebates can be used by households to offset the increased fees, it also helps those who are eligible with their utilities.
People who was having financial difficulties can approach a social service office for help.
Charges and costs increasing
NEA said that over the years, charges and costs for refuse collection have been increasing and that it is not sustainable to continue increasing manpower to meet the increasing demand for refuse collection.
