SELF-ENTITLED SIAO ZHABOR CUT QUEUE @ SINGPOST, THEN INSULTS STAFF AT COUNTER

Screaming karen at singpost yesterday. What could I have done more to help staff?

Was posting a package yesterday at one of Singpost stations in the west, when a wild Karen appeared (looks 30-40 year old, came in with her 60ish year old mother). Place was very very busy and crowded when she came in, there was literally 5-6 people in the queue before her.

Karen proceeded to skip the line and walked to the counter and just asked the staff to help her bc she only wanted them to “weigh” her package.

This poor lady staff tried telling her that theres a queue but finally complied bc karen was screaming at her, and after helping her weigh her package, karen then asked to buy a stamp.

Staff told her again that theres queue and that shes helping another customer. Karen screamed all kinds of racist names at the staff lady and even calling her lazy and blamed her for only having 2 people working that day.

Staff lady finally complied bc karen was screaming and making a really huge commotion.

I was one of the bystanders in the queue, but I feel really bad now for not doing more. Especially assuming the staff lady was fasting, and had the misfortune of dealing with a screaming karen that day..

Is there anything I could have done more? What do I do the next time I see this again?

Edit: Karen’s 60ish year old mother was fine, probably just accompanied her. They both look fine and is not in any kind of medical emergency.

Netizens’ comments

  1. if you dont say anything youre telling her to go ahead and cut the queue ahead of you
  2. I will just tell them to join the queue in a loud voice.
Done it many times to both local and FTs. Work most of the time. In other limited times, we ended up with a verbal exchange which is fine by me as I am not the one being embarrassed as a queue-cutter.
  3. i think there is somewhere in your company policy that states that the staff will have the right to reject service to a customer if their behaviour is “unpleasant”. use it on her and refuse service.
some places has that and they even made a sign
