Last year I dated this girl, name Felicia. Very happening one – always dolled up, every meal must take photo, every place we go must do video. Even go hawker centre eat satay, she angle until like Michelin star review.
First Few Dates
First few dates okay la, I steady, got drive her around, pay for food. But one night, we talk about future plans. I told her I just want stable job, maybe save up buy house, maybe one day open small cafe. She suddenly give me that face – like I fart in lift like that.
She say, “Wah, that’s it ah? No ambition meh?” I ask her, “Then you leh? What you aiming for?” She flip her hair and say, “I want to be full-time TikTok influencer. Like really build a personal brand, you know?”
I stunned. I thought she joking. But she damn serious. She say she already got 2.4K followers and her views increasing. I go see her profile… mostly dancing videos and lip-sync to Korean songs. One video got 12 likes only, she reply all the comments like celebrity.
But hor, in real life, she got no job, living with parents, everyday wake up 12 noon. Still ask me why I not ‘supportive’ of her dream. Then expect me to buy her ring light, sponsor her next phone, and be cameraman.
In the end I siam. Cannot tahan. I not against influencers la, but don’t call other people no ambition when your own dream is chase clout with no income. That one not ambition, that one delusion.
