SON WORRIED OF AWKWARD CNY REUNION AFTER FATHER ABANDONS HIM

This is gonna be a little emotional. But CNY is coming and usually on the first day of CNY, i would visit my aunt’s house alone because my parents are divorced and my dad has his own family.

Usually, we would meet for reunion dinner but because of COVID regulations, I haven’t been able to meet my dad for reunion dinner for about 2 years. I decided to ask him if we could go to my aunt’s house together. But he say he may be going overseas and yet when I message my aunt, she said he comes every year alone with his own family and he will still be doing the same this year.

I feel so miserable because i feel like im not wanted by my own father. I try so hard to reach out to him but he doesn’t reciprocate it.

What’s the point in having children when you aren’t gonna put any effort into knowing them?

Here are what netizens think:

  • Suggest dinner at your aunt’s 2 days before CNY. Sometimes things could be beyond your dad’s control
  • I can understand that you miss your father. Hug!!!If you are still in good term with your father, can I suggest for you to reach out to him and ask him out? When you are spending time with him , you mentioned to him that you understood that he has new family but you also his family
  • meet your dad one on one. tell him you miss him. CNY can be political. best arrange separately
  • Sorry to hear about this. At least you have your aunt and she cares. You should write him a letter and tell him how you feel about him, before it’s too late.
  • You can let your father knows how you feel. I am sure he won’t ignore you. Even if he have his own family, he can still find time to meet you. Not necessary for CNY, ordinary days are good too.
