It was previously reported that a fire had broken out at a Marsiling Crescent HDB unit on 22 June at about 10.40pm.
Two toddlers aged 1 and 3 were rescued by the SCDF after being found conscious in the living room and sent to the hospital.
However, according to Mothership, it has since been revealed by Shin Min Daily News that the two toddlers were home alone when the fire started.
SMDN spoke to a delivery rider who was nearby, and he said that he saw thick black smoke coming out from the unit, and heard the trapped toddlers crying out for help.
The Chinese paper reported that the mother of the boys had gone to work while their father was out on a fishing trip.
However, differing reports emerged with TODAY reporting that the mother had gone out to get groceries instead, when she got a call that her home was on fire.
A neighbour had alerted the police officers about the toddlers possibly being trapped in the unit and were discovered by rescuers as a result.
TODAY also reported the father saying that his older son had pulled his younger sibling brother away from the burning bedroom to the living room and put himself in harm’s way.
Zaqy Mohamad, the MP for Marsiling – Yew Tee GRC said on Facebook that the family is faring well and that the toddlers are in stable condition and should be discharged from the hospital soon.
