For a minute there, I forgot he has passed
For context: I lost my 40 year old brother suddenly to a heart attack a year and a half ago. He passed during the height of Covid and I haven’t seen him the year before he passed and wasn’t able to go back home for his funeral as I was overseas.
I woke up at 3:30 AM this morning feeling a smile on my face.
Remembering the dream I just had where I saw my late brother I kissed him on the cheek and asked him how are you? He leaned his head on my shoulder and said: “as long as I am here, I’m ok”.
It felt so real that for a moment, I forgot that he’s gone. I woke up happy and then the realization kicked in and my tears have been flowing since then.
I’m glad he paid a visit. I needed that.
- I shed a few tears just reading this. I can’t even imagine what you mist be going through. All my condolences to you. I hope you’re doing okay ❤️
- I had a very similar experience a couple weeks ago with my little sister. She passed like 2 years ago when she was 16 and a couple weeks ago I dreamt I saw her and I asked her why we never talked anymore and she said “I moved away remember.” When I woke up it took like 5 minutes to remember why we actually don’t talk anymore. I’ve only dreamt of her once since she passed so this was a nice visit. I’m glad you could have that with your brother too.
- It’s the best and the worst with those visits. Also forgetting they are gone really is a slap in the face. I remember going “Oh I should call mom!” And then realizing she had been dead for 6 months.
