Burmese Woman Confesses to Dumping Newborn Twins in Bangkok Garbage Bin
A shocking incident of infanticide has come to light in Bangkok, Thailand, after a Burmese woman confessed to dumping her newborn twin boys in a garbage bin in Soi Phahonyothin 13. The bodies of the two baby boys were discovered by a refuse collector on July 3, wrapped in plastic bags and left in a bin with other garbage.
The 18-year-old Burmese woman, who was identified as the mother of the twins, was found to be staying in the country illegally. She reportedly consumed a medicine to induce delivery of the babies before schedule, and when she saw that they were already dead, she put them in plastic bags and left them in the bin.
The woman was summoned for questioning by officers from Bang Sue Police Station on July 9, and she eventually admitted to the crime. She faces two charges: intentionally causing a miscarriage while the pregnancy is more than 12 weeks, and residing in the country without permission or with permission that has expired.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern about the welfare of migrant workers and their access to healthcare and social services in Thailand. The case highlights the need for greater support and resources for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the woman’s motives for abandoning her newborn twins are still unclear. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing the root causes of such crimes and providing support to those who need it most.
