A man who was kept back at Woodlands Checkpoint got irritated and decided to strip off all his clothes.
53-year-old Tan Hock Chye pleaded guilty to appearing nude in a private place and he was jailed for 4 days.
Why did he get held back?
According to Today News, the incident happened earlier this year in May 2022. The man returned to Singapore from Malaysia and he was found with a packet of cigarettes.
ICA officers brought Tay to an office in Woodlands Checkpoint and other officers attended to Tay. Tay was intoxicated and was not cooperative with the officers.
The ICA officers informed him that his cigarettes were of non-standardised packaging and he will be free to go if he choose to dispose of the cigarettes. However, Tay got annoyed and remove all his clothes.
The office had a glass panel where other ICA officers could observe what was happening inside.
Not his first rodeo
This is not the first time Tay had behave unreasonably at checkpoints. Previously, Tay was fined $3,000 and $4,000 in 2016 and 2021 for using abusive words against officers.
Tay could have been fined up to $2,000 and jailed up to 3 months for his offences.
