Last month Grab announced that they will be changing the grace period from 5 minutes to 3 minutes, this change resulted in a few netizens getting penalised for extra charges.
This is not the first time someone has made a complaint about getting penalised by Grab’s new rule.
A Facebook user said that he was also penalised by this rule and he was already downstairs when he made the Grab booking, the driver had pressed “arrived” much earlier before actually arriving.
He suggested that this penalty should go both ways to drivers who said that they arrived but did not appear.
Here is what the netizen said:
I just Kena the Grab 3 minutes penalty. It did not make sense at all, I was already downstairs when I book for the Grab but the driver put “arrived” much earlier before he reached and I was penalised for no reason.
Grab’s recently changed their grace period from 5 minutes to 3mins but the thing is, a lot of drivers often press “they arrived” cause they don’t want to wait then end up we pay extra for nothing. This is ridiculous.
The penalty should go both way, if the driver no show but put as “arrived” they should give us some discounts.
