The Thailand Police revealed on Thursday that two individuals from Singapore who were detained on drug-related charges had been residing unlawfully in Thailand for more than 20 years.
Ong Shao Xiong, 34, and Low Gin Ang, 53, also known as Seng, were captured by drug suppression officers in front of the Ananta Hotel & Residence Ratchada in Bangkok’s Din Daeng area.
Drugs and guns
A vacuum sealer, drug-containment sachets, three sizable loudspeakers that were used to conceal drugs, 2,050 speed pills, 482.5 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, and other items were found in the hotel room of the Singaporean suspects.
According to police, the pair confessed to all charges during questioning. They informed officers that they had purchased the drugs in Laos. An agent there hid them in speaker cabinets and shipped them to Thailand.
The Police also found 84 rounds of bullets and a pistol
According to Pol Gen Chinnaphat Sarasin, deputy national police chief and head of the narcotics prevention and suppression center, the arrests happened after a raid on a nightclub in Yannawa district on Wednesday.
104 patrons in total, 99 of whom were Chinese citizens, tested positive for narcotics during the raid on three nearby structures that were functioning as a nightclub unlawfully. The karaoke rooms and other areas were searched.
