30 Y.O MOTORCYCLIST INJURED IN JIALAT HIT-&-RUN ACCIDENT @ MCE, APPEALING FOR WITNESSES

A netizen is appealing for witnesses to come forward regarding a hit-and-run incident that occurred in the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) tunnel on May 25th, 2023, at approximately 6:40 PM.

The victim, a motorcyclist, was side-swiped by a black car, causing him to skid and sustain significant injuries. The driver of the black car fled the scene without stopping to assist the injured motorcyclist.

According to reports, the victim’s friend took to social media to seek help in identifying potential witnesses to the accident.

The motorcyclist was travelling in the MCE tunnel towards the East Coast Parkway (ECP) when the collision took place. The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and fall, resulting in multiple injuries.

The injured motorcyclist also received stitches on his forehead, along with treatment for a broken clavicle, abrasions, and lacerations on his body. The victim has since filed a police report as well.

APPEALING FOR WITNESSES FOR HIT & RUN ON MCE TUNNEL – 25 MAY 6.40PM

Hi all, my friend got into an accident on 25th May 2023 around 6.40pm while travelling in the MCE tunnel towards ECP.

The driver that side swept him and caused him to skid and fall did not stop and just drove away, leaving him injured and bleeding on the road alone.

My friend had to have stitches on his forehead, had a broken clavicle, many abrasions and lacerations on his body.

My friend has since made a police report.

We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward if they saw anything with regards to the accident which involved a black car and my friend’s motorcycle.

Potential penalties

Hit and run

It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.

Reckless driving

Drivers who drive in a manner that is dangerous to the public is guilty of an offence under section 64(1) of the Road Traffic Act (RTA).

Persons found guilty face a jail term of up to 1 year and/or a $5,000 fine.

If the driver causes hurt, he faces a jail term of up to 2 years and a fine of $10,000.

If the driver caused grievous hurt, he faces a jail term of betewen 1 to 5 years and disqualified from driving for at least 8 years.

If the driver’s actions caused death, he faces a jail term of up to 2 to 8 years and disqualified from driving for at least 10 years.
