A major fire broke out at a hotel in Pattaya on Thursday night (21 May), with reports indicating that multiple guests were trapped inside the burning building as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
The blaze erupted at the Sunday JA Plus Hotel, formerly known as the J.A. Plus Hotel, located along Pattaya Third Road in the Nong Prue area of Bang Lamung district.
Local media reported that the fire started at around 9pm.
Flames Seen Engulfing Parts Of Hotel
Videos circulating online showed intense flames and thick smoke pouring from sections of the hotel building as firefighters battled to contain the blaze.
According to the Facebook page Fire & Rescue Thailand, several guests were believed to be trapped inside when the fire broke out.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and rescue personnel, were quickly deployed to the scene to evacuate stranded occupants and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were inside the hotel at the time of the incident, or whether there were any injuries or fatalities.
Rescue Operations Ongoing
Footage from the scene showed emergency crews continuing rescue efforts while firefighters sprayed water onto the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Officials are expected to investigate whether the blaze may have been linked to an electrical fault, kitchen fire, or another source once the situation is brought under control.
The incident caused concern among both tourists and local residents, especially as Pattaya remains one of Thailand’s busiest tourism destinations with a large number of hotels and nightlife establishments concentrated in the area.
Pattaya Sees Series Of Fire Incidents
The hotel fire comes amid several recent fire-related incidents reported across Thailand, including another blaze earlier this week that damaged an Indian restaurant and a suit shop in Pattaya.
As of publication, Thai authorities have not released an official statement detailing the number of people rescued or the extent of the damage at the hotel.
Investigations are ongoing as emergency services continue operations at the scene.
