The suspects, aged between 17 and 24, were detained by police in Kuala Lumpur following investigations into the footage, which allegedly showed multiple riders carrying out reckless manoeuvres in the middle of the night.

Police Track Down Riders After Viral Videos

According to Malaysian authorities, officers launched investigations after several videos surfaced on Facebook showing motorcyclists performing wheelies on public roads.

The clips allegedly featured three motorcycles, including two Honda EX5 motorcycles and a Yamaha 135LC FI.

Police believe the incidents took place between 2am and 2.30am on June 6 and June 7.

Following investigations, officers carried out a series of operations across the Klang Valley and arrested three riders along with one pillion passenger at their respective homes between 12.30am and 1.30am on June 9.

One Rider Seen Crashing During Stunt

Videos circulating online showed four individuals participating in the stunt riding activities.

One of the clips reportedly captured a rider on a Honda EX5 losing control while attempting a wheelie.

The rider subsequently fell from the motorcycle and crashed onto the road.

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as a result of the incident.

However, the footage attracted widespread attention online and prompted authorities to take enforcement action.

Facing Investigation For Dangerous Riding

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said the suspects are being investigated under Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987.

The offence relates to riding in a reckless and dangerous manner that could endanger both the riders themselves and other road users.

Police stressed that such behaviour poses serious safety risks, especially when carried out on public roads where other motorists may be present.

Authorities Warn Against Street Racing Culture

Authorities also urged members of the public, particularly young riders, to avoid participating in illegal street racing and stunt-riding activities.

Police noted that wheelie stunts and similar dangerous acts are not only unlawful but can also lead to serious injuries or death.

The arrests come amid ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to crack down on reckless motorcycle activities often associated with illegal street racing groups.

Videos of dangerous riding stunts continue to regularly surface on social media, with law enforcement agencies increasingly using online footage as evidence to identify and track down offenders.

Those found guilty of dangerous riding offences in Malaysia may face fines, licence-related penalties and other legal consequences depending on the severity of the offence.
